Chapter Forty

Chapter Forty

THORAN'S POV

The preparations for the inevitable war against Elara and her pack were going smoothly… Or so I had thought. Shortly after Yvonne left, I had received an anonymous message from a private number, informing me about a possible… no not a possible traitor, the sender has been very specific about the traitorous spies who had infiltrated the pack.

I had gotten them thrown into the dungeon immediately and then conducted an investigation concerning the allegations. It did not take long to discover the truth about them. They had indeed been in contact with Elara and were trying to gather sensitive information about the pack to send to her. Fortunately, most of the sensitive information was handled within the soundproofed hall.

Unfortunately, the IP address had been untraceable at first. It had taken almost two weeks to trace the anonymous text. Fortunately, when we were finally able to trace the text, it led us to the rogue pack's hideout. We were yet to figure out the sender of the message, so we were unable to determine if the sender was helping us or using us.

However, till this day, I found it unsettling that Elara’s puppets had managed to infiltrate the pack. It was time to tighten the security while rooting out any possible rats still hiding within the pack.

I tried not to dwell on that. Today was a special day. For the first time in the history of Stormhowl, we were hosting the leaders of other packs. It was a great way to kick off our alliance. I had decided not to inform the pack until the last minute, to prevent Elara's spies from catching wind of it, if there were any left. The pack had been quite surprised at the news, since it had never happened before. But, they soon warmed up to the idea, especially after I informed them that the purpose was to go on the offensive and attack Elara while she was in Kaida's ex-pack. I had done this, in part, to carry the pack along.

On that day, when we opened our gates for our allies, my pack mates had watched curiously from the comfort of their homes. I watched in amusement as they entertained themselves with the sight of the Alphas and Luna's from the invited guests.

The pack hall was packed with Alpha couples and representatives from other packs: We had Alpha Gilmar and Luna Bia from pack Lua da Floresta; Alpha Aryan and Luna Shreya from Meena's birth pack, Shashanka; to represent the crescent moon pack, Dylan and his mate Auri were present. The newly mated wolves sat side by side. Their mating ceremony was held two weeks ago, and the union had been a great one; it had served to boost the morale of the pack.

Dylan had also turned out to be a great addition to the pack. He was a great warrior, the kids loved and adored him, and he was very good at settling disputes within the pack. Yet he had also proved himself to be a strict disciplinarian when it came to enforcing law and order in the pack.

These Alpha pairs had come with the number of warriors they were offering as support. The Alphas who were unable to make it over had sent more warriors alongside their representatives.

Soon, it was time to begin the meeting. I leaned forward to address them. “I want to thank you all, once again, for heeding to my call for an alliance and for your support. Without further ado, my Beta, Zarek, will begin by recounting all that we have learnt about Elara and her evil plans, just so we're all on the same page.”

For the next couple minutes, Zarek shared copies of the documents bearing all the information we had gathered on the rogue with. He started by narrating her history and giving a detailed summary of who she was. Then he proceeded to inform the alliance of all the atrocities she had committed and her attempts to sabotage the pack. By the time he was done talking, a somber mood had settled into the room.

“This is so much worse than I expected it to be.” Luna Shreya commented with a sorrowful look. “Elara Nyx needs to pay for her crimes.”

Her mate nodded vehemently. “I agree. I am surprised that she has survived this long without repercussions after all that she has done.”

“Till now. She's gone scot free till now.” I reiterated firmly. “Elara screwed up the moment she decided to go after Kaida's birth pack and ours. She messed with the wrong packs. Now we're going to serve her with the best justice possible.”

Luna Bia watched me curiously. “Seems like you've already got a plan.” It was a statement, not a question. I smiled. The Luna's perception was truly as remarkable as they said.

“Yes. Kaida and I did come up with a plan.” I said as I rose to my feet. I had already confirmed that the sound cancelling magic was working effectively, so there was no need to hesitate. “I know I initially stated that we would be making a sneaky attack on Elara on Nyx grounds. While that is true, I would like to propose another attack. We recently discovered the lair for Elara's rogue pack.” I paused dramatically as the information sunk in. Varying degrees of gasps reverberated around the room. Murmurs questioning why we weren't attacking instantly could be heard.

“Why aren't we attacking immediately?” Alpha Gilmar asked, echoing what everyone was thinking.

“Because we need to be smart about it.” I said curtly.

The Alpha inclined his head in agreement. “So which one do you intend to attack first?”

I shot him a smirk. “We aren't going to attack them one after the other. No. We are going to split into two groups and attack them simultaneously.”

The group exchanged glances and began to discuss within themselves the implication of this new development. “So when is this attack supposed to happen?” Alpha Aryan asked.

“We are going to make sure that this full moon is the last one that Elara Nyx will ever experience. We celebrate the night of the full moon, then we attack at dawn.” I said firmly. “Kaida and I will lead the attack against Elara in the Nyx pack. While Zarek and Zeph will lead the attack against the rogue pack. Wilson will split the group into two under these leaders.” I concluded.
