Chapter 84

Chapter 84
Laura stepped into her apartment with Leo following right behind her. Taking in the sweet and soothing scent of her home, her shoulders immediately relaxed as she made way further in.

“Who knew I would miss home so much.” She muttered under her breath. Hearing the sound of the door shut, she turned around to Leo who took off his shoe at the entrance. “You wouldn't have a problem waiting for a while, would you?” She took some steps towards him.

“It's fine.” He said as he placed his hand on her shoulders. “You should freshen up so you'd feel relaxed. Maybe I'd…”

The sound of Laura's stomach growling immediately cut Leo's sentence midway. He stared down at her stomach and then back at her face that was already flushed in slight embarrassment.

“Sorry. It seems to pick weird moments to make noise.” She said shyly as she lowered her gaze

All Leo could do was chuckle at her already reddened face. “While you go take a shower, I'd be here making you something to eat.”

At his words, her gaze moved back up to land on him. “Huh?”

He nodded. “You heard me. So you have nothing to worry about.”

She shook her head. “You really don't have to do that. I can just…”

“It's fine, really.” He cut her off. “Did you even get anything to eat at all at Nathan's?”

She stared at him for a brief moment before nodding. “I actually was given a lot to eat. Let's say two times daily.” She said, “But…I didn't eat any of it.”

Leo blinked at her. “So you starved yourself the whole day there?”

“Well, it's not technically starving if you're not hungry.” She said and as if on cue, her stomach growled again.

Leo huffed. “Clearly.”

“Shut up.” She rolled her eyes as she moved away from him.

“Well you better drop your pride and go freshen up so you can head back down for lunch.” He said, placing his phone into his pocket. “Alright, go.”

Laura clasped her hand behind her with a small smile. “What do you plan to make?”

Leo shrugged. “Not sure yet. You'd probably find out when you get back downstairs.

Laura scoffed as she turned on her heels to head upstairs. “Please, try not to burn yourself. Or my kitchen. Or my house in general.” She made her way upstairs

“We both know you have the money to always refurnish.”

“Yeah right.” She muttered under her breath before disappearing upstairs.

After some minutes, she stepped out of the bathroom after letting herself soak in the warm liquid bathtub for almost 30 minutes, letting all her stiff and tensed nerves release themselves slowly.

She felt extremely better.

She wore a robe while she wet her fell towards her shoulders as she approached the mirror. Suddenly, a scent began to fill up her room and she felt her stomach growl again the moment it wafted into her nostrils.

Whatever it was smelt amazing.

Deciding to head towards to check up on what Leo was cooking, she tied the rope around her waist tighter as she ruffled her wet hair and made her way out of the room.

As she descended the stairs, the scent only got stronger each second and Laura could feel herself getting more hungry than she had given herself credit for. She made her way into the kitchen to sight Leo who stood in front of the frying pan as the sound of frying filled the room along with the sweet scent of fish and veggies. Almost like a salmon salad.

“I don't know what you're making, but it smells amazing.” She said, causing Leo to tune back to her and she passed him a smile. “Hey there chef.”

“When did you get out of the shower?” He asked as he reduced the fire underneath the pan before turning to face her clearly.

“A few minutes ago.” She said as she stretched her neck to try and see what he was frying. “So what is it that you're preparing that smells so good, it literally pulled me out of my bedroom.”

“Well, like I said, you'd find out when the food is ready.” He said

“And how long would that take exactly?” She asked as she folded her hands across her chest. “Because I doubt my stomach can endure any more torture from smelling something this good and I still can't eat.

Leo chuckled. “Unless you don't want to get your tongue burnt by eating it from the pot, I'd suggest you wait until it's ready.

“Well, Mr chef, make sure to check your food so it doesn't burn.”

Leo immediately turned his attention back to the pan as he turned off the fire quickly. “Thanks for almost letting my fish burn.”

“You're very welcome.” She said with a small chuckle.

Leo leaned against the counter as he stared at Laura with a smile on his lips as she watched her ruffle her wet hair

“What? Why are you staring at me like that?”

Leo tilted his head to the side. “Like how?”

“You know…” she gestured at his face. “The way you're smiling.”

“That's such a vague answer.” He said jokingly and Laura shrugged

“Well, that's the best way I can explain it.”

Suddenly, Leo lifted himself off the counter and moved closer to Laura who watched his every step.

“You look tempting even with a robe on.” He said as he lowered his gaze down at her as something flickered in his eyes.

Laura on the other hand felt his closeness bring about a heat to wash over her slowly regardless of the coolness of her body a while ago. She opened her lips to say something but immediately closed it back at the way Leo's eyes held her face before moving it down to her lips.

“I'm really trying my best not to kiss you, Laura.” His words were almost like a whisper.

Laura stared at him, her mind ringing in a million voices. Then she took a step closer to him. “Who said you should try your best?” The words left her lips before she even realized it.

With just those words, Leo slammed his lips against Laura's and she did nothing to stop him. She let him hold on to her and pulled herself closer. With one swift, he pulled her off the floor and made her sit against the kitchen counter as his lips held firmly to hers and Laura melted underneath the heat his body was bringing. Leo's hands slowly moved down towards the belt of her robe. The moment he moved to lose it, Laura immediately held his hand.

Leo suddenly broke away from the kiss and exhaled heavily. “I'm sorry, I know that would be going far. I just…”

“Not here.” She suddenly said and Leo looked at her with confusion.

She suddenly loosened the first tie of the knob, leaving the last one which caused the robe to loosen slightly around her body as Leo could already have speak of what was on the other side of the white fabric

“My room isn't far away from here, you know.” She said with a teasing smile.

Getting the memo, Leo didn't waste time to pick Laura up in princesses style and matched towards the door.

“What about the food?” She said lightly as they exited the kitchen.

“Why eat that when I can have something better?

Days passed and Laura had comfortably returned back to the office officially. No one in the office besides Fina knew that she had been missing and thankfully, she was lucky it stayed that way. She couldn't have another set of staff going all protective on her the way her assistant has been doing since she finally returned.

Even though she wasn't gone for too long.

She had been busy the whole day as she had missed several meetings all in the span of two days and now she had to meet up with the time Nathan had made her waste away from work. Then her telephone rang.

“Yes, Fina?” she picked

“Ma'am, someone is here to see you.”

Laura's brows furrowed as she stopped typing. From what she knew, she wasn't having any other meetings again that afternoon.

“Who is it?” She asked

“He said Mr Demitri Carter.”

At the mention of the name, surprise washed over her face. She wasn't expecting him.

“Ma'am, should I send him in?” Fina asked

“Um, yeah yeah, tell him to come in.” With that, she placed the telephone back down. She moved her chair away from the desk so she could get up.

Hearing a knock, she made her way towards the door to pull it open and her eyes landed on the older man who had a smile on his
