Chapter 38 - Change of Plans

**Lily**

"Lily, Wake Up Before I Make You!"

My eyes snap open in pain. A sharp pain stabs my upper chest. I blink. "Where am I?"

"I knew you weren't dead." I hear a sniffle beside me. "You scared me." Chase smiles through his tears.

"I tried, Lily." Joanne mumbles lowly, face tired. She's tied to a chair opposite of me. "I'm sorry."

"I'm alive, right?" I smile through the pain. Though it's somehow disappearing?

"We thought you had died!" Victor exclaims, his voice startling me from my left.

"Victor." Megan scolds him. Through a tired smile she asks, "How did you survive?"

"Survive what?" I'm too tired to speak.

"They said they injected you with melted silver." Chase grits his teeth.

"Oh." I feel my lips tilt at the corners. "I got to choose." I smile softy and look down, satisfied.

"What are you talking about?" Megan tilts her head back, weirded out.

The door on the right opens. "Lily?!" Debra's eyes widen. "How in the world... I - I injected you!"

I shrug. She's so pathetic. "Who knows maybe I'm - " I pause as an attempt to be more dramatic. "Immune." I can't help but whisper.

She gasps.

My uncle runs inside, his eyes burning with annoyance. He halts in his steps, eyes wide. "Lily?! Am I- Debra!?" My uncle glares at her.

The feeling of a small sharp object on my hands causes my lips to lift involuntarily. "Thank you." I whisper and gaze at the ceiling, imagining the perfect sculptured face of the Moon Goddess.

For a moment I see her face, a smile on her face with a twinkle in her eye. She winks and it's gone. She's gone. I get to work on the ropes and use the sharp object to cut the ropes. Sudden determination and pure relaxation is inside my heart. I feel in control and confident I can end this once and for all.

As fast as lightning, I rip the ropes off me and drop the sharp object to the ground. My ungle grins, cracking his neck to the side and moving his shoulders backwards.

All attention goes to me.

I smile a sickly sweet smile. "I think it's just between us now, uncle." My teeth don't grit out the words, they come out calm. His face loses the grin but it doesn't take long for his to his grin to come back.

"Lily are you crazy?!" Jeremy moves his body around as an attempt to loosen the ropes. "Untie me, fast!" He begs me with his eyes.

"No. I can do this." I wink in his direction. He sighs, face falling to the floor.

My uncle scowls with clenched fists, his eyes piercing lasers into my body, my soul.

"I don't think you should do that." Debra whispers as her parents come inside. As if sensing the confidence in my voice, Debra places her arm in front of her parents to stop them from approaching me. My uncle moves his face to the side, warning them with his eyes. They back away, their eyes full of fear.

I smile brightly. I have no idea where all this confidence is coming from but I like it.

I take another step forward, raising my fists toward him. He growls and takes rapid steps toward me. He lunges at me, his fist closing in on my cheek. I duck, my fist clenched on my side. My fist connects with his stomach and unlike anime shows, he doesn't fly off. He grunts, the punch only makes his take a couple steps back.

Believe it or not, I am calm.

"You're a lot weaker than I thought."

"You're the one who missed." I stick out my tongue.

His eyes grow the gold specks and I know he's turning into his wolf. I do the same, trying not to feel intimidated by his. A white wolf larger than my own.

My wolf gives him our best wolfish smile, stretching out our body as its been a while since I've transformed into my wolf.

He growls, his body aiming at our neck. I take a step back and jump over him, my paw softly grazing his back. He's quick. He moves his head back and bites my leg. I hiss in pain, spinning around to sink my teeth into him. He dodges my attack and using my body, I push his against the wall.

I aim for his rear but end up biting his tail which causes a whimper out of him. I grin into the bite and sink my teeth farther into his fur, the metallic taste of blood mixes with my taste buds. I close my eyes and gasp when he jumps, a motion that causes me to release his tail in surprise. He turns around and tackles me to the floor, his teeth sinking into my neck. I whimper and try to bite him away.

"Lily!"

I ignore everyone and focus on my uncle. He growls against my neck while his teeth stay latched on. Unbearable pain erupts from my neck but I ignore it and head butt him. He releases me and I take the opportunity to tackle him and let my teeth connect with his right shoulder.

I close my eyes and sink my teeth as far as I can, trying not to gag at the horrible taste. He howls in pain and growls, his paws trying to claw my face with his left paw. His paw connects with my right cheek that leaves behind a stinking sensation.

"Don't Kill Our Uncle, Lily!"

Shocked by Keely's words, my snout falls in shock.

My uncle slams my body on the ground. I growl and dodge a bite by raising my paw and scratching his nose and cheek. He whimpers again. I pant, gazing warily at him. He's on his side, tongue out and splotches of blood on his white fur.

A weird sensation fills my gut, a sensation of relief and pride at my work. I transform back and quietly growl to myself at the unbearable pain on my neck, leg, and cheek.

He looks defeated, all I have to do is twist his neck and he's dead. He's my uncle, a part of my family no matter how much he disgusts me. I can't kill someone important to the queen. *My* mother.

"What are you going to do?" It's Keely who asks the question, staring at our uncle in disgust and disappointment.

"I don't know." I run a hand through my hair, hands shaking.

"I do."

Debra raises her gun in my direction, eyes hard toward my direction. Her parents are behind her with eyes full of mischief. "I think its time you go to hell." She smirks.

I blank my face, turning my hands into fists. "It feels like I'm there."

"With you gone, everything will be okay. I know so." Debra's eyes begin to shake, face twitching.

I downcast my eyes. "If you think so." And my eyes are back on hers.

"I don't think so!" That voice...

It's Alpha James and a couple people from the Dark Moon Pack.

Debra directs the gun at him. "*I'm* holding the gun."

I take a step forward, raising my hands midway in surrender. "Don't hurt him, this has nothing to do with him. It's between me and you." I take another step forward.

The others shout in protest but I ignore them and walk another step. She directs the gun at me again, almost dropping it in the process. Her eyes go from Alpha James to me.

In this very moment, I realize I'm acting crazy. My hormones and feelings are all over the place. My bones are shaking and my hands are numb. But in this moment, I know it's the right thing to do.

"Debra, give it a rest." Chase interjects. "You'll live in guilt for the rest of your life. It's not worth it." Chase leans forward, eyes on the gun.

Debra's eyes soften. "I wanted you, Chase." She raises the gun to my forehead. I don't drop my eyes and keep my head high. She speaks again, this time directed at me. "You had to be his mate! I love Chase, you *never* did!"

What do you say to a person whose eyes are looking in two different directions?

"Debra," Chase begins. "Drop the gun and we can be together."

What? The familiar sensation grows inside my heart.

"Drop it and I'll become your boyfriend." He gulps. "Hell, I'll marry you. Just don't hurt her." He pleads causing her to lower the gun a few inches down. She looks from Chase to me, debating with herself.

The thought of them together causes bile to rise up my throat. They can't be together. I can't let that happen.

"No!" Was that me?

"I want to be happy with Chase but clearly, you don't agree." Debra glares at the side of my face while I avoid the gazes thrown at me.

"But how will you be happy when Chase isn't?"

"Lily!"

"It's the truth! I - "

I don't have time to react as a figure tackles me to the floor. I whimper in pain but it doesn't last long because my ears begin to ring after a shot gun is fired.

"Lily?" Rough hands caress my cheeks as I bite my lip to prevent myself from screaming at the painful sensation on my cheek. I open my eyes and meet the eyes of Alpha James. His eyes are full on concern as he gazes down at me. A tear slides down my cheek and I wrap my arms tightly around his neck, crying.

"It'll be okay." He hugs me back.

I wipe my tears, slowly standing on my feet. My foot loses its footing, hands grab me by the shoulders, and I lean forward to catch my balance. There is blood around my feet. My uncle's to be more specific. Debra shot him. Straight to the heat.

Debra chokes out a sob, her hand shaking in shock.

I stare at her in disbelief. "You shot my uncle?"

Maybe I underestimated her anger but why do I feel like she did it to protect me? I don't know how to react. Am I supposed to be angry? Thank her? I don't know what to do.

Debra drops the gun."I - I didn't want... I don't know... I just - I just wanted to get revenge!" She shouts the last part, running a hand through her hair.

"Debra!" Her mom stares at her in disappointment. "How could you?" It's obvious she doesn't care about what just happened. She's as careless as the day I left. The dad shakes his head, just as emotionless.

Do they care about anything?

Debra laughs bitterly. "I hate you, guys." It's not directed at us but to her parents. She crouches down and grabs the gun, observing it. For some reason, I don't move away in fear or caution. Mostly because it's pointed towards her parents.

"You're horrible." She shakes her head with a *tsk*. "You shouldn't consider yourself a mom." She directs the gun to her dad who looks absolutely frightened. "Touching a daughter is a serious crime. I hope Lily makes you burn in hell." She growls the words through her teeth. Her hands tighten on the gun.

I try not to look surprised at that horrifying thought. Bile threatens to spill out my mouth but I swallow it up and glare at the person I used to call "daddy".

"I'll see you." She inhales and moves the gun to her forehead. "I'll see you in hell." She looks at them directly.

"Debra, Don't You Dare Pull That Trigger!" I don't realize it's only me shouting in protest.

"I'm so sorry," She grits out the words.

"No!"

She pulls the trigger.
