Chapter 191: I Want to Kill Magnus

Kael

I looked down at the blood on me. It wasn't mine-it was Seraphina's.

At that moment, my body trembled as I held Seraphina in my arms. She lay there lifeless, devoid of any sign of vitality. My chest felt as though it was being crushed, my breath coming in shallow, frantic gasps.

"What do I do? Her wounds are far too severe. I can't help her," I muttered.

"Kael, you can't. Not only has your power not fully recovered, but even if it had, you're not skilled in healing-especially with injuries as grave as hers. You need to get her to David," Shadow urged me.

Though I had broken free of the drug Magnus used to suppress me and regained my strength, Shadow's words struck a painful truth.

But this place-it felt as if it was completely isolated. I couldn't send any signal to David.

Magnus. His intelligence was terrifying. He had accounted for everything, even the defenses around this secluded area. No wonder this place was so hidden. Even if my allies tried to reach me, it would take time.

I had no choice-I needed to get Seraphina out of here as quickly as possible.

I tried to teleport with her in my arms, but my strength had been drained. The best I could manage was a kilometer. We were still trapped within this forest.

Never had I felt so powerless.

I looked down at Seraphina in my arms. Her eyes were shut tight, her face pale as snow. Although her bleeding had stopped, her wounds were too deep, too severe. Her life was slipping away, moment by moment.

"Seraphina, wake up. Please, wake up!" I called out, desperate.

But there was no response. She remained still, as if the last flicker of her life had already faded. Seeing her like this filled me with unbearable pain.

I pushed myself to teleport again, pouring every ounce of strength I had left. This time, I only managed two kilometers. Still within the forest. Damn it! I had never hated myself more.

Suddenly, I felt the presence of danger. My senses sharpened, and I became immediately alert.

"Kael, give her to me!"

Magnus appeared before me, his voice cold and commanding. His usually smug face was now uncharacteristically grim.

I held Seraphina tighter in my arms. There was no way I would give her to him.

"Hurry up. You know she won't survive much longer. If you don't hand her over, she'll die," he said.

"No. You're the one who hurt her like this. I'll never give her to you."

"Hurt her?" Magnus let out a low, mocking laugh. "If I told you it was an accident, would you believe me? I care for her deeply, Kael. I want her to belong to me and me alone. Why would I hurt her?"

"This is all because of you. You never should have been here. I could've had a perfect life with Seraphina."

"You're insane," I spat through gritted teeth.

Magnus's expression darkened. He suddenly appeared in front of me, grabbing my arm with a crushing grip.

"If you won't let me take her, I'll kill you first and then take her. Look at you-you're too weak to stop me, Kael."

I glanced at Seraphina, lying motionless on the ground.

No, I couldn't let Magnus take her. But I also couldn't afford to waste time fighting him.

"Shadow, can you still fight?" I asked.

"Of course. For Seraphina, I'd gladly give my life. I'll kill Magnus," Shadow growled, its voice thick with fury.

Without hesitation, Shadow burst out of me, launching itself at Magnus.

Magnus sneered and summoned his wolf. They clashed violently.

Magnus's men arrived, rushing to his aid, but Shadow let out a deafening roar. The sheer force of its cry sent them sprawling to the ground.

"Kael, I'm here!"

I turned to find Marek approaching. It was really him. He was battered and bruised, his body covered in wounds. It must've been a brutal journey for him to get here.

"Marek, are you okay?" I couldn't help but ask.

"I'm fine. What about Seraphina?" His eyes fell on her still form lying on the ground.

"She's badly hurt. Please, take her to David. She needs treatment immediately," I said, my voice firm despite the desperation in my heart.

"But if I leave, you'll be on your own. Can you hold out?"

"I'll manage. Even if I can't, I must. Marek, go! Please, save her!"

With that, Marek nodded and picked up Seraphina. I watched as he disappeared into the distance, taking her to safety. A weight lifted from my chest, and I exhaled in relief.

Magnus's voice cut through the air, sharp and venomous.

"Oh, Kael, you'll regret this. If anything happens to Seraphina, it'll be your fault."

"Shut the hell up!" I roared, charging at him.

I slammed him to the ground with such force that the impact created a three-meter-deep crater. My fists, like iron, pounded into his face again and again. Blood poured from his mouth, and his face swelled grotesquely.

But letting him die so easily wasn't enough. He needed to suffer.

His men tried to come to his aid, but none could get close. A surge of raw power erupted from me, sending them flying.

I could feel it-my strength had grown. Perhaps everything I had endured today had pushed me past my limits.

"Magnus, you didn't expect this, did you? Today is the day you die!"

My vision blurred with rage as I thought of what he had done to Seraphina. My hands trembled with the desire to tear him apart.

I reached for his arm, ready to rip it off, then his claws lashed out toward my face, releasing a black mist.

Magnus was always concocting strange poisons. The moment I saw the mist, I knew it was another toxin.

I quickly retreated, keeping my distance.
