Chapter 299 FIERCE OF JEALOUSY

Chapter 299 FIERCE OF JEALOUSY
Percival

Edeline’s eyes were locked on me as she marched over, grabbing my forearm and pulling me along with her. The contact felt like fire igniting on my skin. She was fired up—angry, for sure.

She dragged me into the equipment shed, out of sight, and then—wham!—she whacked me right in the eye.

I let out a low growl and slowly turned my face back to hers. Anger radiated off her as she raised her other hand, ready to swing at me again. I managed to grab her wrist before she could land another hit, squeezing gently around her slim wrist. “What the heck, Edeline?!” I exclaimed, my lip curling to reveal my fang. Low warning growls rumbled from my chest. The wolf inside me was not thrilled, but at least she appreciated that this wasn’t happening in front of the pack. Don’t mess with my authority.

“Hey! Did you give that girl false hope or what? I know you have not hooked up with her because I would have sensed it!” Her nose wrinkled, eyes blazing with fury.

Then, I caught a scent from her that I never expected to smell—something that stirred a twinge of envy in me.

I pulled her close, gently gripping her hair as I looked into her vibrant green eyes. “I did not do anything like that. I have never even touched or talked to her at all.” My voice was deep, steady.

Edeline squinted at me, her expression a mix of suspicion and adrenaline. “So, who was she to you back then? What was her role?”

“She was my best fighter. The women led the charge...”

Just when I thought the tension could not get any thicker, something I totally did not see coming happened.

Edeline broke free from my hold and landed a punch on my other eye this time. I felt a surge of anger and annoyance welling up inside me.

“That is for letting her flirt with you! I know she did! You just let it happen and did not say a thing to her, did you?!” Edeline swiped at me with her claws, her wolf showing through.

Great. Now I was dealing with a jealous girl.

This was brand new territory.

I would have preferred it to be a big, tough male wolf.

With a growl, my wolf took charge, grabbing her wrists and pushing her down onto her back, making her gasp for breath.

I really did not mean to hurt her; I just wanted her to chill and stop hitting me.

“Hey, cut it out! Right now!” I commanded, my voice firm while she squirmed in my hold. The moment she met my gaze, which had turned gold with frustration, her body froze. My chest heaved as I fought the urge to just take my girl and show her there was no reason to be jealous. I wanted to have some fun until she was begging me to stop.

I did not say anything else. I simply picked her up and tossed her over my shoulder, carrying her out of the shed. Pack members watched with wide eyes and knowing smirks as Edeline fidgeted in my grip. I was not about to let her slip away.

She had just taken down her opponent, which had my wolf all hyped up, and now she was revealing a bit of her jealousy...

In that moment, I was totally into my cute friend, and every part of me was screaming that I should prove to her she did not need to feel jealous—that she was the only one for me.

Then, I noticed her scent shifting. The vibes were so strong around me, coming straight from her. I froze, my eyes widening as it hit me.

She could feel her heat approaching...

Way too early.

I could feel my chest rising and falling as I stood there with her body on top of mine, breathing in deeply and filling my lungs with her scent. She had stopped thrashing, but her body started twitching—her thighs tightening, her muscles coiling with tension.

Suddenly, I felt an intense urge building within me—an appetite I could not ignore. I sensed her anger fading away, replaced by something much deeper—desire—as a soft whimper escaped her lips.

“Shit,” she murmured, her voice muffled. Ugh, the timing of her heat could not be worse. She was considering shutting herself in, but she still had not made up her mind.

I heard a growl behind me and turned around to see a few guys stepping forward. Their eyes were wide open, almost black. Edeline’s scent filled the air, calling out to them—letting them know she was ready and in her prime.

The female warriors outnumbered the guys, doing their best to keep everyone else at bay. Some of the younger guys took off, clearly scared of what they were feeling.

The three in front of me puffed up, throwing me challenging looks as I set Edeline down on the ground next to me. I leaned in close, whispering softly into her ear, “You are marked, so I know you will not react to them. If anyone comes for you, take them out. I will deal with these three for now.” I kissed her cheek, feeling the fire still lingering from our earlier moment, and turned to face the guys, trying to bulk up my own presence. My friend going into heat meant I was about to become an even bigger force to be reckoned with.

But those guys could not see that. All they could see was a golden opportunity—a girl in heat, just waiting for something.

I let the wolf in. Skin shifted, bones crackled, and fur popped out through my pores. The guys were completely zoned out as they shifted too, those wolves craving something that was not meant for them.

Without waiting for the last guy to finish shifting, my wolf jumped in, quickly grabbing onto the neck of the smaller dude, who was about the same age as me. In one smooth motion, I tore his throat out. Blood splattered all over my coat and got on my buddy standing a bit behind me, keeping an eye out for anything that might threaten us.

The two remaining male wolves hesitated, glancing at each other as if they wanted to back off. But the enticing scent in the air held them in place. One of them lunged at my wolf, and my wolf snapped back, swiping with sharp claws.

They were both going to kick the bucket today. An alpha is not a fan of other wolves sniffing around his girl. Trying to take her from me was like throwing down a gauntlet.

My wolf was not holding back anymore. It knocked the attacker down hard and stood over him, quickly biting into his throat. No need to pull; he would take his time dying.

The last wolf was checking me out. He was the biggest, but not bigger than me.

He danced around, teasing me while my wolf clawed at the ground, chest lowering, getting ready to jump.

I heard some commotion behind me, and my wolf turned to check on Edeline. She was facing off against a guy, battling him in her own skin. She knew that moving would put her in a riskier spot, but she was holding her own.

That one look from her really set me back...

When my wolf shifted focus back to the remaining wolf, he leaped, tackling me as we landed. Rage filled me. I needed to get Edeline home, so I started thrashing around, my hind claws digging into his belly. My teeth chomping at whatever I could reach.

Warm liquid began to flow down my wolf’s back legs as the other wolf’s claws finally cut through the skin. He jumped back, but he was not really going anywhere.

We went after him. I nipped him in the side, and he went down. I was all over him, ripping into flesh with some serious snarls and growls, letting my primal instincts take over.

With one last yip and whine, the light faded from his eyes. The wound finally took him to the moon. I glanced over at the other wolf, who was already gone too.

I spun around and dashed toward Edeline, who was just finishing off her opponent. Howls rang out behind me, mixed with whimpers from the females as the males moved in and started to charge.

I had to get Edeline out of there.

Shifting back to bare skin, I tossed her over my shoulder again, and she did not mind at all. My legs moved quickly as I headed for the trees.

As soon as we reached the edge of the forest, four big wolves jumped out from the shadows, darting past me and heading straight for the group of guys rushing in.

“Hey, we got some backup coming in!”

I recognized Maxim's voice. Wait, was that Nixx? So Edeline's dad showed up, along with Jack and Gaspar, too, even though I had no idea they were coming today. Their wolves charged in, moving fast, taking guys out left and right who got a little too close. Jack and Nixx were not the type to go too far, but Maxim and Gaspar definitely would. They only targeted the ones who acted like a threat. The others would have to give in.

We were about to lose a few guys today—more than I wanted to—but not enough to really matter. Still, who wants to lose their warriors?

I picked up the pace, running hard while Edeline bounced on my shoulder. Her hands clung to me tightly, and I could feel her weight, but I was still quicker than her. It would not be cool to let her down, and she totally knew it.

I made a beeline for my old family home, now just sitting empty, far from the other wandering pack members. But her scent would still be picked up—a path that led us right to this spot. I would have to cover up the trail once I got her inside.

I slid through the door, slamming it shut behind me, and dashed up to my old room from a few years back, flopping her down onto the king-sized bed. I had not slowed down at all since I picked her up, so there I was, out of breath, my face flushed, sweat and blood running down me.

I had a couple of cuts, but it was not a big deal.

She jumped on the bed, giving me a fierce look from below. “What the heck, Percival?” It came out with a snarl.

I let out a growl that was way deeper than hers while I stared at her intently. “What the heck is going on, Edeline?” I was really feeling it. “Did you really think it was a good idea to come outside today? You almost kicked off a war! Actually, you did! Do you have any idea how many guys I lost today because of this? What were you thinking?” Her eyes widened, and her full lips parted in surprise. I had never raised my voice at her before. No way.

“Per—”

“No way!” I said, moving a bit closer to her. “Today was such a total mess! All because of your heat. It started! You knew being near me could trigger it sooner, yet you still put us both in a tough spot.” I shook my head, frustration bubbling over.

Her expression stiffened as she got up on her knees. “I did not think! Don’t even try to blame me!”

So, she got a bit jealous, which was kind of cute, but it left me with two black eyes because of it. Now I had to take out a few of my guys since she was in heat, and I kind of knew it might happen sooner with her being around me.

This lady...

I shook my head and held my hands up, trying to shake off the anger while ignoring the smell she was putting out. “You know what?” I looked down at her blood-splattered body, the first wolf's blood—the one I had taken down. I noticed her eyes finally taking in my appearance. She bit her lip, those striking green eyes roving over my entire body, landing on the part of me standing at attention without me even realizing.

“Hey, go wash off your scent. Hop in the shower. Now. Get that blood off you.” I told her, keeping it pretty chill. I grabbed her hair gently and pulled her head back as she let out a gasp. Meeting her wide gaze with my desire-filled one, my voice dropped low and heavy. “Because when I get back, I am jumping in that shower with you to show you what’s up. Trust me, sweetheart. You will not have to worry about jealousy anymore once I am through. You will see just how much I love and crave only you.”

I let her go, and her body relaxed on the bed. My heart raced as those eyes locked onto me, ignited with a fresh spark of interest.

She totally brought out my strongest cravings.

Leaning down over her, I let my lips lightly brush against her jaw as I moved toward her ear. I could feel her whole body lock up, her breath catching in her throat. “I am going to eat you alive, babe,” I whispered softly. The throaty sound of her voice was a clear sign of just how turned on she was.

I had to force myself to pull away from her.

After leaving her all worked up on my bed, I grabbed some masking spray and headed out the front door to cover my tracks. No wolf was getting past me to my mate.

It was just me—no wolf around.

My arousal stayed at the forefront the entire time, and I could feel the mate bond pulling me in, messing with my head. I sensed Edeline’s happiness pulsating in my mind, her emotions becoming a little more personal than usual.

Once I finished spraying, I tossed the bottle aside and dashed back inside, locking the door behind me.

It was time to show her what was up. I wanted to appreciate every bit of her until she realized she was the one for me. She was it—my everything.

I just hoped I had some condoms around…
