Chapter 167 MARKED BY MOONLIGHT

Chapter 167 MARKED BY MOONLIGHT
Edeline

“Edeline, I just wanted to let you know that I love you,” he murmured, his breath warm against my skin. He pressed his lips to mine for a final, lingering moment. Our kiss was a timeless dance, filled with rhythm and passion, a wild frenzy of intertwined bodies and fervent embraces. The air was thick with gasps of pleasure and unyielding desire. He stared deeply into my eyes, pushing me to the brink of madness, teetering on the edge...

Then, as if summoned by our intense connection, our wolves emerged, and we became a fierce team. His teeth and claws materialized, sinking into the side of my neck. The sensation was electrifying, sending me spiraling into a free-fall. I bit back, sinking my own teeth into his neck in a retaliatory embrace.

I could feel him falling with me, as if we were tethered together in a profound connection. The bond we shared intensified, and we experienced an overwhelming sense of happiness, merging on a soul level.

Just one pair.

A couple.

…

Edeline

I felt incredible—my entire body buzzing with pleasure as the events from just hours ago played on a loop in my mind. It was hard to believe, but it seemed like I had been marked.

We both left our marks on each other.

We are mates now.

Things did not go exactly as planned, but maybe the moon had other ideas. Otherwise, this would not have happened.

When I finally woke up, my eyes fluttered open, and a deep sense of relaxation washed over me. The bond between us was so powerful that it had knocked us both out. Percival lay next to me, our bodies still intertwined, as if neither of us could bear to let go.

The lantern had burned out, leaving only the moon to illuminate the scene, casting a serene glow through the curtain of falling water. As the exhaustion from my heat-induced release faded, a gentle calm settled over me.

I could still feel the soreness between my legs, a lingering reminder of the wild night we had shared. It made me feel alive, more alive than I ever imagined possible.

Our bond had intertwined my wolf and human sides with Percival’s, creating a connection so deep that we could now sense each other's emotions and thoughts as if they were our own.

This could be a good thing... or it could be really, really painful.

I sensed the wolf within me stirring, her joy palpable as I pictured her in my mind, her tongue lolling out, absolutely delighted. The warmth in my body began to rise again, but the cool sensation of Percival’s body pressed against mine brought relief wherever our skin met. I found myself panting, my chest rising and falling rapidly, trying to keep up with my racing thoughts.

It had only been a few hours since our bond was formed. Judging by the moon’s position in the sky, it must have been around 2 a.m.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my abdomen, making me tense up, my limbs freezing in place. I gritted my teeth as another wave of intense heat surged through me, almost too much to bear.

When a heat starts, it feels like your brain is fried, and your skin is engulfed in an overwhelming fire. Your insides cramp up, desperate for release—not through fingers or toys, but from a mate. Only a mate can truly satisfy that craving. In those moments, a woman’s mind clouds over, her body yearning for touch... the longing is so intense that it does not matter who she is with. Any man who crossed her path would find both of them eagerly undressing each other.

That is why we have to be locked away.

After a few days—give or take, depending on the female—if pregnancy has not occurred, her uterus lining will shed, similar to a human’s menstrual cycle. But it only lasts a few days.

Thankfully, we do not experience heats every month. Real wolves only mate from January to April, once a year. But since we are half-human, we go into heat every six months. From the very start of our journey, it has been this way. Ugh, at least I will not have to deal with this again for another six months...

How does anyone endure this without their partner to help them?

Percival’s arms tightened around me as I let out a groan. The intense cramping in my insides was becoming unbearable. All I wanted was his touch, his warmth, to make it all go away.

He quickly sat up, propping himself on one elbow, his blue eyes gazing down at me. Concern and longing mixed in his expression as the scent of our mating hormones filled the room. “How are you doing? What’s bothering you?” His voice was soothing, making my muscles tense between my legs as I yearned for him even more.

"Percivaaal," I whimpered, my eyes locking onto his mesmerizing blue gaze. His worry was evident as he sat up, each movement of his fit physique making my heart race.

"Ouch..." I groaned as another wave of pain shot through me, forcing me to curl up into a ball, bringing my legs to my chest. I lay there, trying to breathe through it.

His hand gently caressed my exposed hip, and I sighed, finding some comfort in his touch. I rolled onto my back, feeling his hands glide over my hips and down my thighs. His gaze was intense, the chemistry between us undeniable as my pheromones mingled with the cool air. I was captivated by him, his bare form wrapped in shadows, every flex of his muscles mesmerizing me.

I could sense his desire—so palpable, so intense, it was as if our thoughts were intertwined. Just like mine.

A small whimper escaped me as the pain flared in my loins, causing me to shift away from him instinctively.

“Hey, it’s all good. No need to worry. I’m just doing something,” he said, his voice filled with desire, pulling me back to reality. He had become so adept at reading me, understanding every nuance of my needs.
