Chapter 150 FRUSTRATION AND CHOICES

Chapter 150 FRUSTRATION AND CHOICES
Edeline

"That person!" I pulled at my hair, feeling frustration surge through me like a caustic acid.

"Hey, Edeline, just take it easy!"

I stopped in my tracks and shot Mirabelle a glare. "I can’t believe it, Mirabelle. I just can’t calm down when Tatiana went running to her 'daddy' to spill our secrets and beg him to take her back. It is just too much! Conor even suggested marking Percival, which is completely insane! They all need to leave, no doubt about it. They have to go." I crossed my arms and bobbed my head from side to side, my eyebrows raised in disbelief.

Mirabelle plopped onto her bed, letting out a weary sigh. She had been released from Doc's just as our meeting—what I like to call the skeleton exhibit—was wrapping up. Now we were hanging out in her cabin, free from the healer who had been staying next to us since Anita had been sent down to the cellar.

I glanced up quickly. "Oops."

"What’s up?" Mirabelle asked, propping herself up on her elbows, a frown tugging at her lips.

I closed my eyes and dragged a hand down my face in frustration. "Oh, I totally forgot that Anita was sent to the cellar. And guess what? That’s where Darius is..."

Just the thought of them being in the same room set me on edge.

Mirabelle's eyes shifted from their usual brightness to a more serious expression. "Seriously? Edeline, that’s not good... Well, at least she’s chained with silver. Isn’t that what you said?"

I nodded, feeling a flicker of relief as she reminded me of details I had forgotten.

"Edeline..." Mirabelle’s gaze was sharp and knowing. "I think you should go have a chat with Percival. Before you start searching for your dad and have that talk with Nixx and your mom." Leaning forward in her oversized Paramore band t-shirt, she gave me that rare, motherly look she sometimes has.

"I understand that you have been dealing with a lot lately, and it feels like you are stuck in a mystery like Scooby-Doo. It seems like everyone is relying on you, but whether or not you want to talk to Percival, it’s important that you do. I am fully behind you in everything you are going through. It is not right for him to stay with Tatiana just because she is pregnant, but talking with him might provide some clarity. It could help calm your wolf, as I can sense her energy is even more intense than yours. So, would you consider going to talk to him?" Her eyebrows lifted in a gentle, questioning arch.

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as I abruptly stopped my pacing and let out a frustrated growl. "Sure, I guess I will swing by later, alright? You are sure you do not need anything?" I raised an eyebrow, waiting for her response.

She shook her head and smiled. I returned her smile, feeling slightly more relaxed.

As I opened the cabin door, I let out a little squeal of surprise.

There was Nixx, standing right in front of me with a sad expression on his face. He was about to knock on the door.

"Hey, Nixx! What brings you here? Do you want to chat?" I stepped closer, my concern evident in my voice.

Nixx's face turned bright red as he glanced down at his feet. “Hey, I just wanted to see how Mirabelle is doing. We can catch up later,” he said, looking up and offering me a friendly smile.

I raised an eyebrow, puzzled. He never seemed to care for Mirabelle before she left. “Sure, catch you later,” I replied, my tone flat.

He walked past me casually, giving a nod. A faint hint of his cologne lingered in the air. I wrinkled my nose, glancing from the closed door back to the spot where he had been standing.

“Strange...” I muttered to myself. It felt like some kind of mystical visit.

Without a second thought, I strolled away from Mirabelle's cabin, the darkness wrapping around me like a cloak. My main focus was finding Percival. He was my top priority because he had a calming effect on my wolf.

It was amusing how we both had trouble dealing with him at the moment. Yet, Mirabelle wanted his help to relax. The past few days had been intense, with my wolf gone for over twenty-four hours. The chaos that had erupted... I just needed to unwind. I wanted to calm her down. I could put off dealing with the skin side for now, but once my wolf was back to normal, I could tackle that. I was also trying to find my dad, figure out Tatiana’s plans, and hope Anita would change her mind. Maybe Tatiana would decide to move on. And I needed to check on my dad’s well-being. He said he would give Mom a chance to explain. Darius would be fine, I was sure.

I was uncertain about how things would unfold. Annabel did not seem too thrilled about discovering her partner had another son. I had heard I was the firstborn, but I still thought Mom deserved a chance.

Everyone deserves another shot.

It was frustrating how I couldn’t seem to follow my own advice when it came to Percival.

Percival. Nixx. I was torn on who I wanted to take the alpha position. If Percival took it, things would remain complicated among everyone. Tatiana might still have the puppy, and despite Z saying he loved me and wanted to be with me, it felt too late now. If Nixx took the position, Percival would likely resent him. There was a chance Percival might confront Nixx out of frustration, which could lead to isolation or severe consequences. And Tatiana might end up catching Nixx’s attention.

She really seemed to be into alpha types.

I was seething with anger when Conor showed up unexpectedly during our heartfelt reunion. I couldn’t help but find some twisted amusement in the smirk on his face. It made me want to wipe it off.

Can you believe they actually had the audacity to suggest that I should go ahead and mark my mate?
