Kristen's pov.
My mouth fell open as I watched Noah fall unconscious to the ground. A cold chill ran through my spine as I stared at his unconscious body.
“Fuck” Jake cussed slamming his head in frustration. “Look what you did” he snapped.
“What I did do?’ Dominic scoffed. “He tried to hit me first” he defended.
“Hey, what is going on here?” I heard a voice call as it approached us.
“Fuck” Dominic eyes widened in fear as he exchanged understanding glances at Jake. “We need to roll,” he said as they both ran away.
“Noah” I fell to the ground. Tears prickling my eyes. “Wake up” I shook him but he didn't move an inch.
“What are you doing?” Dominic shouted as he ran back pulling me up. “We have to go”. He revealed as he ran with me.
I followed sheepishly without any question. We ran to a dark alley, where Jake stood there waiting for Dominic, his brows furrowed in anger as he saw me with Dominic.
“You brought her here?” He shot. “What are you thinking?”. He scoffed nodding his head in disbelief.
“Well, I couldn't just leave her there” Dominic defended as he turned to me. “Are you alright?”
“Alright?” I scoffed. “You killed my brother” I snapped, anger thrummed through my veins as I clenched my fists in anger.
“You are welcome” Jake frowned, his face contorted with a mixture of irritation and anger.
“We didn't kill your brother” Dominic reassured me. “I just made him unconscious, I am sure he would wake up in a minute”.
“I am going back” I revealed as I turned to go, but Dominic grabbed me.
“Are you related to Lidya?” He bolted out.
I stared at him suspiciously, this was my first time outside in the human world, and I could not trust anyone. I glanced at Jake, his facial expressions uncertain as he stared at me, his eyes suddenly flashed with resentment as I locked eyes with him.
My brows furrowed in curiosity as I wondered whether I was seeing things or I actually saw the flash in Jake's eyes.
“Not really”. I shook my head as I turned to go. My heart hammered loudly in my chest as sweat appeared on my face. I was filled with fear. “What if they decide to do something bad to me here?” I said to myself as I bit my lips anxiously.
“So you are not related to Lidya?” Dominic face flickered to a mixture of suspicion and curiosity.
“I just said no” I snapped as I turned to go.
“Have you been to the human world?” He bolted out. “Do you have a license or something?”
I turned back as my heart lurched into my throat. “What are you talking about?” I swallowed hard avoiding his piercing stare.
“You know what I am talking about” He insisted.
“I do not know what you are talking about” I snapped angrily as my eyes widened in fear.
“I am Dominic,” he said gesturing me a handshake, his lips curled into a faint smile.
“You told me your name the other time”. I rolled my eyes, knocking his hand away.
“I didn't” he defended. “But I guess you heard my name somewhere”. He shrugged.
“Can I go now?” I frowned, clutching my hands on my chest. “Do you have anything to say to me?”
“She is right” Jake chipped in. “You should go and meet your brother before someone takes him”. He suggested.
I scoffed. “You don't need to tell me what I should do” I snapped.
“Snappy” Dominic smiled as he placed his hand on my shoulder. “I love that” he laughed, exchanging glances with Jake.
“Do you know who I am?” I asked, my voice laced with venom. I smoldered as Iocked eyes with him. I made my facial appearance look more intimidating but the two guys stood still not feeling intimidated.
“Who are you then?” Jake scoffed. “You are a werewolf, just a lone wolf standing in the midst of real wolves”.
I staggered backward in shock as my eyes widened in shock. “What… are you talking about?” I stuttered.
“Are you surprised?” Dominic mouth opened in disbelief. “Couldn't you sniff us?”
“I couldn't pick your scent” I defended as my face fell in shame.
“What?” Jake scoffed, nodding his head in disappointment. “What are you, a lost cause” he eyed, his voice laced with mockery.
“Okay, that is enough”. Dominic turned to Jake. “You shouldn't have done that”. He warned.
“She is a lost cause” he added. “She has no idea if the environment around her” he eyed.
“Where are you from?” Dominic asked as he stared at me.
I bit my lips anxiously as I contemplated whether to tell them where I was from, one of the rules if a rogue hunter was never to reveal your identity, I couldn't break that rule.
“Where are you from?” Dominic asked again.
“I am from…” I paused as I turned back. “You know what, there is no need” I reassured them.
“I am guessing you are a rogue hunter” Dominic bolted out, I halted immediately turning back.
“I didn't tell you anything”. I replied as my face flickered to fear. “I didn't tell you I was a rogue hunter”.
“You don't have to tell me” he smiled walking closer. “You sold yourself out” he revealed.
“How are you sure she is a rogue hunter?” Jake asked him. “She looks like a lost duck”. He laughed.
“I could take you there” Dominic suggested.
“There is no need” I replied nodding my head in disagreement. “I just have to find Noah or Lidya and they will take me back”.
“Wait” Dominic stopped me as he sniffed the air. “They are here” he revealed, Jake tightened his fist as he glanced around.
I scoffed as I nodded my head in disbelief. “Ohh, I am scared” I mocked. “Do you think you can fool me?” I laughed, immediately Dominic pulled me closer as a dagger flew past my back.
Three rogues appeared from the dark as they clenched their fists tightly, they were smoldering at me.
“Lucas” Dominic called. “We do not want any trouble, we are not in your territory, so you should leave”.
“We didn't come for you”. He revealed as he walked closer. “We came for her,” he said pointing at me.
“Why do you want her?”. Dominic asked as he pulled me to his back.
“That's impertinent” he scoffed. “Give us that rogue hunter and we will be on our way, she is related to Noah”.
“Aren't you scared of Noah?” Jake frowned.
“We were but if we get her, we have no reason to”. He explained as his men walked closer.
“You should leave, you are not going with her” Dominic revealed.
“Let us find out”. Lucas smiled as he pounced on him.
The rest became a mystery to me as fear couldn't let me remember the incident clearly my vision narrowed into a pinprick, as I saw the gushing of blood from their bodies.
“You decided to betray your own…” Lucas stuttered as blood pooled out of his mouth, Dominic did not wait for him to finish his statement before using his claws to tear open his throat. I fainted immediately.
I woke up on my bed, starring at me was Noah, his face etched with worries as he bit his lips.
“Noah” I called sitting up. “What happened?”
“You are alright” he smiled as he pulled me into a hug.
I looked around and everything felt normal, could it have been a dream?
“How are you doing?” A familiar voice asked it was Dominic. “It wasn't a dream” I scoffed getting up from the bed. “What are you doing here?”. I frowned.
Noah turned to Dominic gesturing him to leave, Dominic nodded in agreement as he turned to leave, Noah watched him slam the door before turning to me.
“Are you nut?” He snapped.
It was at that moment I remembered what happened, I brought Dominic and Jake home because they told me they had nowhere to go, so I thought I could return the favor by sheltering them in our pack, I blacked out because Sir Patrick informed the council about my behavior and I was to be trial.
Slowly my mind went back to the present as I stared at Noah. I could only feel regret if I had listened to Noah from the very beginning.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I could no longer hold the pain, I betrayed my pack for a rogue, I left my pack to be with a man who doesn't still care about me, but that was going to change, I was willing going to do anything to change that history and protect the ones that truly loves me. But first I knew I had to get rid of Dominic at all cost.
