Chapter 16

Chapter 16

After waking up from such a disgusting scene, Emily walked to the bathroom to splash water on her face. The remnants of her dream clung to her mind, refusing to disappear. As she exited the bathroom and caught sight of the large bed, a cold shiver ran down her spine..

Victor's last look in her dream was almost cruelly indifferent, like she didn't mean anything to him. His voice was filled with so much impatience and hatred.

The dream had felt so real as if she had been transported back to her past life, and her spirit revisiting this very room made her relive the moment she had endured with Victor and Susan.

Reminded of the red silk nightgown,  Emily quickly went to the wardrobe, opened the door, and located the red silk nightgown among the racks. It was the same nightgown she had brought for her honeymoon with Victor that never happened.  With a cold stare, she grabbed a pair of scissors and savagely cut it into pieces!

She then threw the shredded nightgown into the trash bin, took a deep breath, and was beginning to calm down when she caught a slight echo of arguments outside the villa.

“ Who the hell are you! I'm the head of this household! Who gives you the right to stop me from coming in?!”

Victor's angry voice rang loud in the air..

Triggered by the nightmare she had just experienced, Emily's eyes were filled with deep hatred, and she walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, drew down the heavy curtains, and looked down at the garden side not too far from the gate.

Outside, the early morning sky was dimly lit, a misty haze covering the whole city.

Down at the gate side,  Victor was sitting in a wheelchair, and standing behind him was Alfred, who was pushing. They were confronting the two muscular men in black suits at the entrance of the villa.

Emily gave the scene a cold glance, then turned to check the clock in the room. It was 6:55 am. Victor had shown up unexpectedly early.

At that moment, her phone rang, it was Evelyn calling, probably caught up with the commotion..she immediately picked up.

Evelyn's worried voice rang through the line, mingling with the sounds of the wind. “ Mrs Callum, are you awake? Mr Callum is here, and I'm not sure what's happening, but two unknown bodyguards have appeared at the entrance of the villa. They are blocking Mr Callum from entering, and he is causing a scene, even threatening to call the police!”

Emily raised her brows slightly, taken aback, “Was this your doing?”  she asked, not so sure of what was even happening.

Evelyn was confused and quickly responded. “ No, it wasn't me. I don't even recognize those guys maybe you should come down and handle it”

“Alright”

Emily ended the call and snatched her long beige trench Coat from the closet and quickly left the room heading outside

She was not concerned about Victor's well-being if he was being bullied. Her curiosity was piqued by the origin of the mysterious bodyguards and their refusal to let Victor in.

By the time Emily arrived at the villa entrance,  it was exactly 7 am. The two Bodyguards, cautious of the time, looked at each other and walked away, heading straight toward the villa across the street.

Alfred looked at the villa across the way where the gate had just shut, then turned to Victor who was still on his phone, “ Mr Callum,  they've left. We should go inside and find Mrs Callum”

Victor, unaware of their departure, glanced around,  looking for where the men had left.  “ They left? Where did they go?” He asked, still glancing around, he had been so engrossed in his phone conversations earlier that he didn't take notice.

Alfred pointed at the villa across the street,  “It looks like they are from the neighbors over there”

Victor looked over at the villa and was surprised, “The villa across the street? Are you sure of what you're saying? I thought it was empty and the owner lives abroad”

Alfred was about to reply when he saw Emily approaching them. He stopped and gave a slight nod, “ Good morning Mrs Callum”

Victor turned to see Emily not too far, staring at him icily through the gate holes. His temper immediately rose up and he wheeled his automatic wheelchair closer  and started shouting at her,

“Emily, have you lost your mind? I heard what happened last night! How could you throw all the servants of the Callum family out? Do you realise how much you have upset my mother? You clearly don't want this marriage to continue!”

Emily chuckled at his audacity.  He thought shouting at her that way would warrant her to go on her knees to beg? Keeping on dreaming Victor, I would rather marry a tree than spend any last minute with you!

With her mind fully made up, before she could respond “Mr Callum!” Evelyn's voice echoed as she stepped forward to defend her mistress. Her face was covered up with disappointment as she spoke, “ Mr Callum,  Violet was rude to Mrs Callum first and Mrs Callum was only trying to…”

“Shut up!” Victor ignored Evelyn's explanation, staring at her angrily. “Who do you think you are? Huh? To put your mouth in a private matter between me and my wife. Don’t you know your place? A mere servant like you has no right to interfere!” He shouted, unable to hold back his anger. The constant pain in his groin was a sharp reminder of what Emily had done to him to put him in this condition, and seeing her now only added more fuel to his burning anger. His eyes were already bloodshot and underscored by dark circles, indicating his restless and sleepless night.

The previous night, after hearing the complaints from the bodyguards and receiving a distressing call from his mother, he was so angry that he wanted to leave the hospital and confronted Emily about her madness.  However, Susan suggested he rest and address it with her in the morning.

If it wasn't for his groin injuries and he didn't want his family members to know about it, he would have rushed over the previous night and given Emily what she deserved.. This lady was crossing the line!

Emily's eyes turned cold as she stared at the shameless man on the other side of the gate.  She stepped forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Evelyn, her voice was low but somehow harsh,  “You are the one who needs to shut up. This property is in my name, and if I decide for anyone to leave, they must leave, and that includes you!”
