Chapter 275 Forever Loving You
Chapter 275 Forever Loving You
"Scarlet's sister got sick, so she went back home with her and said she might not come back. She decided to leave the band," Jessica said, shaking her head a little. "I swear, our band has the highest turnover rate in all of Skyview City."
"As long as our music stays solid, we'll keep our fans," Isabella replied, cool as ever.
"Exactly," Cedric chimed in with a sly grin.
Cecilia, sitting nearby, nodded thoughtfully. She looked a bit unsure but decided not to dig deeper.
"Alright, folks, time to chow down!" Lancelot suddenly appeared, carrying a huge platter of grilled meat, the smell filling the room. "I whipped this up myself, so get ready for something special."
Caroline raised an eyebrow, leaning in to sniff the food. "Lancelot, when did you become a master chef? Did Cedric give you lessons?"
"No way."
"You almost blew up the kitchen with me before!"
Lancelot's face turned beet red.
"Okay, okay, I'm just messing with you," Caroline said with a playful grin.
Everyone laughed and took their seats, and the table quickly buzzed with energy.
Matt eagerly shared stories from their tour, with Rachel tossing in jokes and even teasing Matt about crying when Scarlet left. Jessica quietly ate, occasionally flashing a soft smile.
Cecilia sat next to Alaric, watching him skillfully serve her food and pour her water, feeling a warmth in her heart.
In her past life, she had faced too much betrayal and intrigue, but now, surrounded by these noisy yet genuine friends, she suddenly felt that maybe this life could be different.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Alaric noticed her mood and leaned in to ask softly.
Cecilia shook her head, placing a piece of fish in his bowl with a smile. "Nothing, just thinking how nice this is."
Alaric's eyes softened as he gently held her hand.
Across the table, Kian and Caroline were fighting over the last piece of ribs, their utensils clashing, prompting Lancelot to shout, "Are you two in elementary school?"
Isabella seized the opportunity to snatch the ribs, triumphantly stuffing them into her mouth, only to be overwhelmed by the spice.
Rachel laughed, while Matt handed her water, saying, "Serves you right."
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a warm golden glow over everything.
After the meal, Cecilia took a glass of juice to the balcony, where a gentle breeze carried the scent of flowers. In the distance, the city skyline shimmered in the sunlight.
Isabella appeared beside her, holding a can of beer, looking a bit wistful.
"What's up?" Cecilia asked.
"Just checking on you," Isabella said, exhaling slowly. "Harry and I once thought about finding 'Isis's Tear.' Now that we know it might be with you, I strangely feel relieved."
"Harry..." Cecilia paused, "You mean that Ben?"
Isabella nodded.
Cecilia thought for a moment, recalling what Alaric had told her about Harry's past, and suddenly understood Isabella's words.
"Sometimes, letting go and moving on isn't such a bad thing," she said, turning to Isabella. "No one knows what the future holds. I hope you'll trust us more in the future, and not leave me in the dark like last time at the manor."
Isabella nodded, about to speak when Caroline's voice called from inside, "What are you two doing out there? Come have some cake!"
Cecilia smiled, pulling Isabella back inside. "Come on, everyone's waiting for us."
"Alright."
By evening, Cecilia and the crew left the Elikin Mansion and headed over to Blue Lake Mansion.
The living room was softly lit by a warm yellow lamp, casting a cozy glow over an ancient chest from Ethereal Isle on the coffee table, alongside a rusty iron box.
Alaric, Caroline, Kian, and Isabella gathered around Cecilia, their eyes fixed on the chest.
"Ready to give it a shot?" Alaric asked gently, his gray-blue eyes intense in the dim light.
Cecilia nodded, taking a deep breath as she inserted the lockpick into the keyhole, turning it carefully.
With a soft click, the lock gave way.
Cecilia slowly lifted the lid, revealing a yellowed letter and a small item wrapped in red silk.
"Another letter?" Caroline frowned.
"As long as it's not some cryptic symbols," Kian quipped.
Cecilia stayed quiet, picking up the letter. The familiar handwriting made her heart skip a beat.
It was unmistakably her mother Ursa's handwriting!
[To my daughter, Cecilia.]
Her eyes instantly welled up.
[Cecilia, I don't know if you'll ever see this letter, but if you do, it means I'm probably no longer around.
There are things I must write down, and I trust you'll find this. Forgive me for not telling you in person. About your rebirth, the gem inside you, and the fate of our Medici family.
A hundred years ago, your great-grandmother brought back 'Isis's Tear' from an ancient temple during a journey. It's not an ordinary gem but a vessel of some power, capable of influencing time and destiny. She passed it down as a family heirloom until it reached me.
I was curious and gathered all the information I could, even finding the temple your great-grandmother might have visited, and met many seafaring friends.
However, twenty years ago, someone set their sights on it. They weren't ordinary people but a group of fanatics seeking immortality and power. They would stop at nothing, even causing the tragedy that befell your father.
I was desperate and sought help from an old friend. She told me the gem could be fused into a person's bloodstream, hidden within someone close to me.
So, Cecilia, I'm sorry.
When you were five, I had the gem fused into your heart. It won't harm you; in fact, it will protect you, giving you the chance to be reborn, allowing you to change everything at critical moments.
I know it's cruel, but I had no choice.
The gem's power isn't eternal. It activates after you've experienced death, allowing you to return to the past and alter fate. But each rebirth consumes its energy. If you're reading this, it means you've already been reborn once. Otherwise, you wouldn't have sought out these legends.
I don't know how many times you can be reborn, but I hope this is the last. I don't want to see you suffer or live in the past and memories.
There's also something else in the box, a golden phoenix hairpin from an ancient palace. It was a beloved item of a queen, brought out by your great-grandmother. I've kept it safe, and how you use it is up to you.
Cecilia, no matter what the future holds, remember, your destiny is always in your hands.
—Forever loving you, Mom.]
