Chapter 90 Your Daughter Can Actually Score So Well
Jeremy was still in shock and hadn't snapped out of it. He couldn't understand how someone like Isabella could possibly score 1440.
"Mr. Wright." The vice principal looked at him coldly. "As a faculty member, you jumped to conclusions without getting the facts straight and insulted a student's reputation. Don't you think you owe Isabella an apology?"
Jeremy's body stiffened. In front of the entire school, his face burned with shame.
When had he ever been so humiliated?
But he couldn't bring himself to apologize to Isabella.
This student didn't deserve it.
Jeremy explained, "Mr. Sanchez, Isabella's previous grades were so poor that I misjudged her. I didn't intentionally slander her."
"Nonsense!"
Albert Sanchez was furious.
He strode up to Jeremy, pointed at him, and said sternly, "What are you trying to say? You made a mistake, and now you're blaming Isabella for doing poorly before?"
"Just because Isabella didn't do well before, she deserves to be accused and slandered by you?"
"Jeremy, students have been reporting problems with your conduct to me all along. I thought it was just because you were a bit strict, but now I see you have serious issues!"
Jeremy was stunned.
"What are you standing there for?" Albert shouted at him angrily. "Now, in front of all the students, apologize to Isabella for what you've done!"
"I..." Jeremy tried to say something, but seeing Albert's angry expression, he had to stop himself.
He was about to get promoted soon.
He shouldn't clash with his superior at this critical moment.
Jeremy held back.
He clenched his palms, glanced in Isabella's direction, then faced everyone on the field with the microphone and said painfully:
"Regarding today's announcement criticizing Isabella from Class 11, Grade 12 for cheating on the exam - I made an error in judgment and wasted everyone's time. Isabella did not cheat. I apologize to everyone here for my mistake, and I apologize to Isabella."
Below the stage, Bianca clenched her fists, her lips trembling.
Isabella actually... didn't cheat.
But 1440 points - how was that possible?
Wasn't that a bit too fake?
"Gabriel, your sister is amazing."
A male student behind Gabriel patted him, looking amazed. "A total genius!"
Gabriel hadn't recovered from his shock either.
When he first heard Jeremy announce on stage that Isabella had cheated, he wasn't surprised at all.
It wouldn't be strange for Isabella to do anything embarrassing.
He never thought Isabella could have been wrongly accused.
He just couldn't understand...
Isabella grew up in such a poor place and never received any proper education. She should have been crude and ignorant.
How could she score so high?
With this score, she could apply to any top program at any university in the country.
After graduation, she would definitely become a top expert in society.
A talent...
Gabriel had never thought of Isabella as talented before.
"Isabella is pretty, lots of guys like her, and her grades are good too." The male student didn't notice Gabriel's reaction and kept talking to himself.
"If I had a sister like that, I'd be too happy to sleep."
The student didn't have a sister, only a brother who fought with him every day - actual physical fights.
He was so fed up with it.
He really envied classmates who had sisters and dreamed of having one, since sisters were sweet and soft, so much better than brothers.
Gabriel's palms tightened, his expression shifting slightly.
So in other people's eyes.
Isabella was that good?
——
The driver parked the car outside the school gate.
Olivia got out with her bag.
She had been holding back her anger the whole way, and as soon as she got out, she walked quickly through the school gate.
She said to the security guard, "My daughter is in the Grade 12 international class. Can I ask if the grade assembly inside has ended?"
Hearing it was the international class, the guard immediately nodded, "Just ended."
Olivia thanked him and walked in, when she spotted a wealthy-looking woman walking toward her - someone she knew.
Olivia's body instinctively stiffened.
Thinking that the other person might already know about Isabella's cheating, her first reaction was to turn and avoid her.
But it was too late.
The other person had already seen her.
"Mrs. Taylor."
Olivia clenched her palms, stood still, and forced a smile. "Mrs. Morris."
With Isabella doing something so shameless, she had no face to see anyone.
Marlowe Morris approached, "What a coincidence, I didn't expect to see you."
Olivia could only nod with a faint smile in response.
She was in no mood to chat and was about to make an excuse to leave.
"Mrs. Taylor, I just saw this exam's grade rankings!" Marlowe spoke up. "I really didn't expect your daughter to do so well. She's amazing!"
1440 points.
She wouldn't have dared to imagine it.
Hearing this, Olivia's expression didn't show much emotion.
She was used to it - Bianca's grades were always excellent, and this time was no exception.
All along, everyone she met praised Bianca for being pretty and well-behaved, smart and clever, good grades, good at piano...
Such praise was countless.
Yes, Bianca had always been her pride. She never regretted putting so much effort into raising Bianca.
"I have an appointment with someone," Olivia said hurriedly. "I have to go."
Marlowe was stunned, taking a few seconds to react.
"Okay, see you."
Watching Olivia's departing figure, Marlowe looked puzzled.
That was 1440 points - if her daughter scored like that, she'd be grinning from ear to ear. How come Olivia had no reaction at all and even seemed to be in a bad mood?
Olivia returned to the car, relieved that Marlowe had been tactful and didn't mention Isabella's plagiarism.
Otherwise, she really wouldn't know how to respond.
Olivia pressed her temples, angry and annoyed.
Seeing more parents coming out from inside, many of whom she knew, she immediately gave up the idea of going in to find Isabella.
"Let's go back," Olivia told the driver.
She really couldn't afford to lose face like this.
——
Violet hooked her arm around Isabella's shoulder as they left the field.
"Come on, let's go to the store. I'll buy you snacks. You did so well, you deserve a reward."
Isabella was so impressive.
Aurora and Scarlett followed behind them.
Aurora suddenly remembered the bet Isabella made with Abigail from the international class on the forum.
The grade rankings just came out - Isabella was first, and Abigail's name wasn't even in the top ten.
"Isabella, this time Abigail didn't beat you, so doesn't that mean she..."
Has to accept the punishment.
Just as Aurora finished speaking, Violet's sharp eyes spotted several figures from the international class ahead, one of them being Abigail!
