Chapter 88 Bring the Test Paper! Let Her Do It On the Spot!
She could hardly believe it.
Isabella had actually cheated.
Bad grades were one thing, but cheating? That was a moral issue now.
Olivia's expression grew increasingly grave, her lips pressed into a tight line, her fingertips gripping the phone turning white from the pressure.
"Mrs. Taylor, what's wrong?" The lady looked at her puzzled. "Why do you look so awful?"
Only then did Olivia realize someone was beside her. She quickly moved the phone away from her ear.
Thank goodness she hadn't put it on speaker.
Otherwise, if these ladies found out Isabella had done something so disgraceful, where would she put her face?
Olivia clenched her fingertips and forced a stiff smile. "It's nothing."
The lady didn't ask further and turned to chat with another lady about beauty treatments.
Olivia couldn't hear a word they were saying. She bit her teeth hard, her chest aching with anger.
How dare Isabella? How dare she cheat? How dare she embarrass her in the first month at Stellar High School?
Disbelief, shame, and rage intertwined. Olivia wanted nothing more than to rush to Stellar High School right now and demand answers from her.
The ladies also noticed something was off with Olivia. They didn't stay long and left after finishing their coffee.
After seeing them off, Olivia's smile vanished instantly, her face falling.
"Yves!" she called out, her voice tight.
Yves hurried over. "Mrs. Taylor, what's wrong?"
Olivia was extremely agitated.
"Arrange a car to take me to Stellar High School right away."
Just thinking about Isabella doing something so disgraceful, thinking about how when word got out people in their circle would know, how she and even the entire Taylor Family would become a laughingstock among the elite families - Olivia was so angry she could die.
She took a deep breath and hurried into the car.
——
The playground at Stellar High School.
After Isabella personally admitted the phone was hers, the murmuring below never stopped.
Some people gloated, some cast contemptuous looks at Isabella, while most were just watching the drama unfold.
Jeremy raised his chin. "Alright everyone, quiet down. Now I'm going to announce..."
"Criticism" hadn't left his mouth yet.
But he heard Isabella say: "The phone is mine, yes, but I didn't cheat."
"..."
Everyone's eyes immediately turned toward Isabella.
Jeremy's expression changed instantly too.
He was so angry he laughed, saying coldly: "Isabella, the evidence is right here, and you're still making excuses?"
"Evidence?" Isabella said with a stern face. "Did you see me bring this phone into the exam room? Or did the teachers in the exam room see me using this phone to cheat?"
"What if I say I never brought this phone into the exam room at all?"
"Or, what if I initially planned to use this phone to cheat, but got scared and didn't go through with it?"
Jeremy was speechless for a moment.
Isabella's questioning voice rang out again:
"It's been three days since the exam. If I cheated, why didn't anyone notice on exam day?"
"Now just because you found this phone in my drawer, you're saying I cheated. Isn't that a bit unconvincing?"
"If I really cheated, why didn't the two proctors see it? Are they dead? Or... are they blind?"
The two proctors who were mentioned looked uncomfortable at these words.
Indeed, they hadn't seen Isabella cheat.
One of the teachers had even participated in grading. When she heard Jeremy say he was going to criticize Isabella at the flag-raising assembly, she had tried to talk him out of it, because she felt guilty herself - without catching someone cheating red-handed, it was really hard to make a judgment.
But Jeremy's attitude was too firm. She couldn't convince him at all.
Jeremy was furious.
He didn't understand why Isabella was still making excuses when she was caught dead to rights.
Now she was even using the proctors' oversight as an argument.
People make mistakes, and two pairs of eyes couldn't possibly watch Isabella the entire time. The proctors must have been careless that day, which is why they didn't catch Isabella cheating.
Jeremy laughed coldly, looking at Isabella with a stern gaze.
"You say you didn't cheat, but I've seen your previous grades - your total score was only 800 points. Yet this time your test score was 1440 points. Isabella, isn't it obvious whether you cheated or not? What's there to argue about?"
Anyway, no one would believe Isabella could have gotten this score on her own.
Hearing Isabella's score, the whole crowd was shocked.
"What! 1440 points? Did I hear that right?"
"How dare she cheat so boldly!"
"I think the highest score in our school's senior year so far was only about 1415..."
Isabella finally understood.
She looked toward Jeremy and laughed coldly.
"So you think I cheated just because you think I couldn't possibly get this score?"
"What else?" Jeremy looked at Isabella disdainfully. "Even I, a teacher with over ten years of experience, couldn't get this score. What makes you think you can?"
With her attitude of not studying properly? Or with the backward education from that crappy place she came from?
The students below couldn't help but chime in.
"Exactly, who does she think she is? 1440 points, how dare she."
"She really has no self-awareness."
"Being so bold about it, does she actually think the score she got from cheating is something she earned herself?"
Isabella was so angry she laughed. "Just because you can't do it doesn't mean I can't. I'm not you - I don't have a brain as dumb as yours."
Jeremy's face instantly turned extremely ugly.
Too arrogant.
She did something wrong and still dared to be this arrogant.
"Good! Very good!"
Jeremy couldn't help pointing at Isabella, his lips trembling with anger. "Even now you're still acting tough."
"Still insisting the score is yours, you just love claiming you're smart, don't you?"
Jeremy ordered sternly, "Juan, bring me the test paper I prepared! Let her do it on the spot!"
Today he would nail Isabella to the pillar of shame for cheating and make sure she couldn't get down!
Juan quickly brought over the prepared test paper.
Jeremy held up the paper, looking at everyone present. "This is a math test paper I printed in advance. The difficulty is very average."
He narrowed his eyes, looking coldly at Isabella. "I'm giving you a chance. Come up here and do it. Whether you cheated or not will be clear as day."
As soon as he said this, the crowd below became restless.
"This exciting? Doing a test paper in front of the whole school?"
"Why am I feeling kind of nervous?"
"The one who should be nervous is Isabella. She probably never expected Mr. Wright to be so serious and make her do a test paper in front of the whole school."
"But honestly, is Isabella about to be exposed?"
