Chapter 86 Found the Cheating Tool
"This girl has some nerve." One of the teachers picked up Isabella's backpack, unzipped it, and started rummaging through it.
While searching, he said mockingly, "Bad grades are one thing, but poor character too? No wonder Mr. Wright is so angry."
After finding only homework and textbooks in the bag, he dumped everything out onto the desk.
"The stuff's not in the backpack."
The people from the Academic Affairs Office looked down on students who broke the rules.
Their faces were full of contempt.
"Let's make sure everyone knows Isabella cheated. That'll teach her not to do it again!"
"Exactly. This kind of thing should be known throughout the whole school, so other students won't make the same mistake."
Hannah walked to the classroom door. She thought the classroom would be empty, but caught sight of several figures in the back row.
She craned her neck to look and saw they were from the Academic Affairs Office, so she quickly walked over.
"Mr. Stewart, what are you doing?"
Hannah glanced at Isabella's messy desk and frowned. "Why are you going through students' things in our classroom?"
"It's nothing." The teacher named Stewart was Juan Stewart.
He glanced at Hannah. "Just checking if students are carrying prohibited items."
"That's not how you do a search. Did you tell the student beforehand? Did the student give permission?"
Juan laughed at this. "Ms. Nguyen, we're from the Academic Affairs Office. Do we really need to ask students' permission to search their things?"
The Academic Affairs Director Jeremy was his distant relative. He got into Stellar High School's Academic Affairs Office through this connection.
Jeremy would soon be promoted to backup vice principal.
When that happened, he would naturally take over Jeremy's position as Academic Affairs Director.
So he didn't care about a mere homeroom teacher.
"The Academic Affairs Office can't go through students' personal belongings either."
Hannah reached out to stop the teacher who was about to search the drawer, but Juan pushed her away.
"What are you doing? Ms. Nguyen, are you openly opposing the Academic Affairs Office? Or is your student hiding something that can't be discovered?"
Hannah stumbled back several steps. She steadied herself against a desk and looked at Juan and the others, finally sensing something was off. "What exactly happened? What are you looking for?"
Today was the grade-level assembly, and all the students were downstairs right now.
Yet Jeremy had people come search Isabella's drawer at this exact time.
What was he trying to do?
"Looks like Ms. Nguyen doesn't know yet." Juan sneered. "Mr. Wright plans to publicly criticize your class's Isabella for cheating on the exam at today's grade-level assembly."
Hannah's expression changed.
"What? Isabella from our class cheated? Why wasn't I notified?"
Juan looked mocking. "Maybe Mr. Wright wanted to give you, the homeroom teacher, a surprise."
"Even if Isabella cheated, he should have notified me as her homeroom teacher first!"
Hannah's expression became uncontrollably serious. "Besides, there are so many people at today's grade-level assembly. Publicly criticizing her on that occasion will destroy Isabella!"
How could a seventeen-year-old girl bear such humiliation?
"Well, she brought it on herself." Juan said.
Just then, a teacher pulled two phones from deep in the drawer and shouted excitedly, "Found Isabella's cheating tools!"
One white phone, one black phone.
The white phone was a common ordinary phone from the market, but the black phone had no brand markings and felt heavy—clearly a modified high-tech device.
Juan waved the phones in front of Hannah, saying smugly, "See? We found the cheating tools too. Now we've caught her red-handed."
Hannah frowned at the black phone in Juan's hand, bit her lip, turned around and headed straight for Jeremy's office.
She forcefully pushed open the office door, quickly approached Jeremy, and demanded with a tight voice:
"Mr. Wright, you've determined Isabella cheated. Why didn't you tell me, her homeroom teacher, beforehand?"
Jeremy squinted at her and said disdainfully, "Tell you? And then what? You'd just protect her again, wouldn't you?"
"I've never protected any student. I just deal with things fairly..."
"Enough, the grade-level assembly is about to start. I don't have time to talk to you." Jeremy stood up to leave.
Hannah blocked him. "Mr. Wright, you can punish Isabella any other way, but not like this. With over a thousand people staring at her, Isabella can't handle it. She won't be able to stay at Stellar High School after this."
Jeremy snorted. "A cheater naturally can't stay at Stellar High School. Stellar High School doesn't allow such stains to exist."
"Mr. Wright." Hannah stood in front of him, her eyes almost pleading. "Can't you handle this differently? What you're doing will really destroy this student."
Jeremy stared at her for two seconds, then finally brushed past her impatiently and hurried out of the Academic Affairs Office.
As soon as he left, he received a call from Juan.
"Mr. Wright, we've confirmed this black phone is definitely a cheating tool. We tested it with our equipment, and it really can't be detected. Plus, the exam room's signal blocker has no effect on it."
So Isabella could easily bring this phone into the exam room and use it to cheat.
"I know."
Let's see how Isabella tries to deny it now.
Jeremy smirked and confidently walked toward the field.
——
At 7:50, all the students from Stellar High School had gathered on the field.
Music played through the broadcast system across campus.
The students below were chatting.
Especially the seniors—they were particularly noisy.
"Did you guys hear? The reason the monthly exam results haven't been announced yet is because someone cheated during the exam."
"How's that possible? You can't bring anything into the exam room, plus there's signal blocking and two teachers patrolling front and back. How could anyone cheat?"
"I don't know, but people who want to cheat will always find a way."
"Besides, someone in my family knows people in the Academic Affairs Office. A teacher from there said so."
In Class 11's area.
Violet looked confused. "I think I heard them saying someone cheated on the monthly exam. What's going on?"
After speaking, seeing that Isabella in front of her didn't respond, she tapped her from behind. "Isabella, did anyone in your exam room cheat?"
Isabella shook her head. "Didn't notice."
The grade-level assembly officially began. Seeing the teacher take the stage, the whispering discussions below stopped.
Jeremy walked onto the stage with a microphone.
