Chapter 43 Pull Her Up
It took Elizabeth a long time to react. Her eyes instantly turned red with anger, and she raised her hand to slap Isabella. "You bitch..."
Before her hand could touch Isabella, Isabella grabbed it firmly.
"Let go of me!" Elizabeth shouted in dissatisfaction, looking at her wrist held tightly by Isabella.
"Can't you break free yourself?" Isabella asked her.
Elizabeth was furious. While struggling hard against Isabella's grip, she shouted, "Aria, Zoey, what are you standing there for? Are you stupid?"
Aria snapped out of it and immediately walked toward Isabella.
Before Aria could get close, Isabella kicked her far away. She fell to the ground and knocked over a water bucket.
Aria clutched her stomach, looking at Isabella in disbelief.
"Aria, what's wrong?"
Zoey rushed to help Aria up.
Aria sat on the ground holding her stomach, tears coming out from the pain. Her face looked terrible. "It hurts so much, Zoey. My stomach really hurts."
That kick was really powerful.
Zoey saw it too, and her look toward Isabella now carried some fear.
Elizabeth's expression also turned ugly. She yelled at Isabella, "What's wrong with you!"
That sharp voice hit the eardrums directly, making Isabella frown.
She squeezed Elizabeth's wrist bone hard.
This joint was much more fragile than any other joint Isabella had broken before.
Elizabeth gasped in pain.
Isabella didn't want to make this bigger and pushed her away directly.
Elizabeth fell to the ground awkwardly.
Knowing she wasn't as strong as Isabella, Elizabeth didn't dare move. She could only look at Isabella with angry and humiliated eyes. "Have you thought about the consequences of treating me like this?"
"Nope," Isabella said carelessly.
She turned around and glanced at Scarlett, who had countless scratches all over her body.
Isabella frowned. "Come on, let's go to the infirmary."
Elizabeth looked at Isabella's back and started crying from anger. "Just you wait, I'll make you pay!"
——
Isabella didn't expect to be assigned to the same dorm as Elizabeth and her group.
She was in Class 11, while Elizabeth was in Class 10 next door. Logically, she shouldn't be in the same dorm as Elizabeth's group.
The only possibility was that Class 11's dorms were full, and only Class 10 had space left, so the school arranged it this way—after all, she had applied to board midway through.
But whatever the reason, being assigned to live with this group made Isabella very unhappy.
Who wants to sleep with a bunch of mean girls every day? There'd probably be trouble every single day.
Just as she was thinking this, Scarlett's voice came to her ears.
"Isabella, thank you."
She hadn't met her before. It was only when Isabella introduced herself just now that she learned her name was Isabella.
Isabella came back to her senses and smiled. "You're welcome."
Looking at Isabella and remembering Elizabeth and her friends' unwilling expressions after being taught a lesson, Scarlett felt guilty and worried. "You're in the same dorm as Elizabeth. Will she take revenge on you?"
She was really panicking now.
She knew how terrible it was to be targeted by Elizabeth and her group. She had experienced it herself and lived in pain every day. She didn't want Isabella to get into trouble.
Isabella looked up at her and said very calmly, "You just saw it—they can't hurt me."
Looking at Isabella's fair face showing no trace of worry, Scarlett was curious why Isabella wasn't afraid of Elizabeth and her friends.
"Elizabeth's family seems really rich. The Perez Family must be in business and has some influence here. If the Perez Family comes after you..." Scarlett frowned. It would be a lie to say she wasn't scared.
Isabella just gently pulled her arm. She knew Elizabeth had the Perez Family behind her and understood Scarlett's worries. "What Elizabeth did wasn't anything good. She won't take this to her parents."
Actually, she wasn't sure what methods Elizabeth would use against her, but saying these words now was just to comfort Scarlett.
She also had the Taylor Family behind her.
Although she had suffered betrayal from family and no longer trusted the Taylor Family, no matter what, the current Taylor Family was one of Emerald City's elite families.
Not something a small Perez Family could compete with.
Scarlett pressed her lips together and said nothing more. Although she was still worried, seeing Isabella's confident appearance, she instinctively believed her.
At the infirmary, the school nurse was startled when she saw the disheveled girl. "What happened? How did you end up like this?"
Scarlett's clothes were dirty, her sleeves torn, and she had scratches of all sizes on her arms, ankles, and face. The serious ones were already seeping blood.
"I'm... I'm fine," Scarlett said softly with her head down. "I just fell."
The nurse immediately took out medicine and cotton swabs. "Come, sit down. Let me treat your wounds."
Isabella looked at Scarlett's pained but enduring face with mixed feelings.
She didn't know if her intervention could change Scarlett's tragic ending from her past life, but she hoped her help could pull her out of the abyss.
Coming out of the infirmary, Scarlett looked at her. "Thank you for coming with me."
Isabella handed her a packet of milk and cookies. "See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow?" Scarlett blinked in confusion.
"Yes, I'm also in Class 11, so see you in class tomorrow."
Scarlett was surprised. She didn't expect her to be in Class 11. Seeing her in the same dorm as Elizabeth and her group, she thought she was in Class 10.
Scarlett looked at the milk and cookies in her arms, her eyes getting moist.
If it hadn't been for Isabella today, she really didn't know what terrible things she would have faced.
——
"Oh my god, what is all this cheap junk!"
Dorm 701 was in chaos after Isabella left.
Elizabeth and the others surrounded Isabella's suitcase, laughing hysterically.
"Three-dollar shampoo?"
"Haha! And look at this—people still use bar soap!"
Elizabeth, thinking of the humiliation she had just suffered, used scissors to cut up all of Isabella's clothes.
Fabric scraps were scattered all over Isabella's bed.
"Scarlett is poor, but I didn't expect this Isabella to be even poorer!"
Thinking of Isabella's arrogant attitude earlier, Elizabeth wanted to flip Isabella's bed over.
Zoey brought over a bucket of water and poured it all over Isabella's bed.
"Poor person with no money or power!" Elizabeth cursed viciously. "How dare she act so arrogant in front of me!"
