Chapter 418 Isabella Is Back
Lumaria.
Seventy percent of the Taylor Group's shares had been acquired. William told Isabella the news.
"Mr. Brown, regarding the movements of the Taylor family members you asked me to monitor, I just discovered that Hayden and Chase have hired professional private investigators to search for Ms. Taylor's whereabouts," David came in and said.
William's eyes darkened slightly at the news.
He knew it.
The Taylor Group shares were acquired under Isabella's name. Hayden was afraid Isabella would be out of his control, so his next step would be to find Isabella, no matter what, to firmly control the seventy percent of shares in her hands.
Without hesitation, William called Isabella directly.
"Hayden is sending people to find out where you are."
Isabella's face showed no sign of panic.
"I know."
"Don't worry about him for now. As for the shares, I'll go back in person tomorrow."
There were some procedures Isabella needed to return to Lumaria to handle.
Isabella removed Hayden's number from her phone's blacklist and called him.
As soon as the call connected, Hayden's gentle, fatherly voice came through. "Isabella, you're finally willing to contact me."
"I know you're sending people to find me," Isabella got straight to the point. "But you don't need to waste your effort. You won't find me."
Even if he did find her, he couldn't even enter the Powell castle.
Hayden frowned slightly. "Where exactly are you? Why did you run away from home? Isabella, no matter what you're thinking, we're still family. You should come back home as soon as possible and stop staying out there."
"I didn't run away from home," Isabella said flatly.
"What is this if not running away? How long has it been since you came home?"
"That's not my home. You've got the wrong person. I'm not your daughter," Isabella said.
Hayden laughed in frustration. "Do you have to say such things to upset me?"
Isabella was actually saying she wasn't his daughter. Was she trying to cut ties with him?
"I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just telling the truth."
With that, Isabella hung up.
Hayden's face immediately turned extremely ugly.
What was this if not trying to cut ties? She wouldn't even acknowledge him as her father anymore.
Did Isabella really think that just by hiding abroad, he couldn't find her?
With a dark expression, Hayden dialed the number of the private investigator in the Northern Ice Empire.
"Have you found any leads on the person I asked you to find?"
Hayden had sent Isabella's photo to the private investigator, asking them to help find Isabella's current address and whereabouts.
However, despite their initial agreement, the private investigator's tone was mocking. "Mr. Taylor, are you joking with me?"
Hayden was stunned. "What do you mean?"
"You're telling me the person in this photo is your daughter? That she ran away from home, and you're looking for her?"
"Yes."
The person on the other end laughed in anger. "If she's your daughter, then I'm your father!"
Gwyneth's daughter's identity was public knowledge. When the private investigator traced the photo, he discovered that the person he was supposed to find was actually Gwyneth's daughter. He was completely stunned.
He just wanted to make money, not get himself killed.
The private investigator didn't dare reveal any information, afraid of unknowingly offending the Powell family.
"I can't take this job. It's impossible. Mr. Taylor, I'll refund your deposit!"
Before Hayden could say anything, the other party hung up directly. The next second, his phone received a notification that the deposit had been refunded.
Hayden gripped his phone, his face dark with anger.
He contacted other private investigators, but some blocked him directly, while others cursed at him over the phone, saying he was trying to get them killed.
Hayden didn't understand. He was just asking them to find someone. How was that going to get them killed?
"A bunch of useless trash!" Hayden cursed in dissatisfaction.
Hayden raised the fee, but after contacting countless private investigators, no one was willing to take the job. When he asked why, they wouldn't reveal anything. However, one person did give a reason, saying they didn't dare offend the Powell family.
What was the Powell family?
Didn't dare offend the Powell family?
What did this have to do with Isabella?
Hayden was completely puzzled.
But as long as he couldn't find Isabella, he was anxious, because most of the Taylor Group's shares were currently in Isabella's hands. He absolutely couldn't let Isabella roam free outside.
——
After a week of detention, Olivia was finally being released from the police station.
That day, Chase went to pick her up.
Olivia looked disheveled, and her mood was absolutely terrible.
Who would have thought she'd be sent to detention by her own daughter?
She was truly disappointed in Isabella, so disappointed.
"Did you and your father find out where Isabella is?" Olivia asked Chase.
Chase shook his head. "No."
"Dad contacted many private investigators, but no one would take the job."
Just as Olivia was about to say something, her eyes suddenly caught sight of a girl standing not far away on the roadside.
The girl looked thinner, wearing a long coat. She was tall with fair skin and striking features that were hard to miss.
Olivia's expression changed immediately.
She looked in that direction in shock, her pupils widening, her voice carrying strong disbelief. "Isn't that Isabella?"
"What!"
Chase was startled and looked over, recognizing her immediately.
"It's her."
Isabella had actually come back.
Isabella walked toward Olivia and Chase, looked Olivia over a few times, and smirked. "Mrs. Taylor, you just got released? Must have suffered quite a bit in there?"
Olivia felt terrible inside. Of course, the days in detention weren't pleasant, but who was she detained because of?
"Isabella, is this how you treat your own mother?" Olivia stared at Isabella. Somehow, the current Isabella seemed completely strange, totally different from how she looked on the first day she came back.
"Own mother?" Isabella shook her head. "So how did you treat your own daughter? Sending people to trash my shop - is that what you, as a 'mother,' do?"
Olivia was at a loss for words. "I just wanted you to come back."
"Are you a child?" Isabella sneered. "Using this kind of method to get my attention - isn't that a bit childish?"
"Isabella, even so, you shouldn't have called the police and had Mom thrown in detention," Chase said in a heavy tone. "No child would be this heartless to their own parents."
"Chase, you don't need to act all righteous either," Isabella scoffed. "Weren't you and Hayden looking for private investigators to track me down? Well, I'm back now. Satisfied?"
For Chase, Isabella's return wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
He cleared his throat and softened his tone a bit. "It's good that you know how to come back. Since you're back, hurry up and transfer the seventy percent of Taylor Group shares in your hands to my name. Oh, and Celestial Jewels - you should return that too."
