Chapter 395 My Daughter Is Missing, I Want to Report It
When Cressida walked out of Foxen's office, she still looked dazed.
She had withdrawn from research project A007, and it seemed she'd never be able to take the Powell surname in the future.
Foxen said that the person she offended today was from the Powell family, and no matter what, the Powell family would never allow her to join. Even if she did join the Powell family, she wouldn't be able to face Isabella in the future.
Cressida was filled with regret.
Why did she have to provoke Isabella? Now all her efforts had gone to waste.
Cressida stood frozen in place for a long time before finally returning to the lab.
In the lab, there was no one except Asva.
Looking at Asva's back, Cressida forced a smile, "Asva, we..."
"Let's break up," Asva said.
Cressida froze, the smile on her face solidifying.
She could hardly believe what she was hearing. "Asva, what did you say?"
Asva didn't turn around. With his back to Cressida, he took a deep breath. "Cressida, you're too extreme."
After getting together with Cressida, he had been especially careful about keeping his distance from other women.
But even so, Cressida still felt very insecure.
Whenever any woman got close to him, Cressida would go after that person privately, just like she did with Isabella earlier, completely losing it.
Sometimes he was just having normal conversations with female colleagues, but in Cressida's eyes, it became those women trying to seduce him.
Asva sometimes felt really helpless. He had never thought about betraying this relationship.
But Cressida didn't think so. It seemed that in Cressida's eyes, he was a man who could cheat at any moment.
"Cressida, I'm not breaking up with you because I've fallen for another woman," Asva said flatly. "I just want to breathe. I don't want to be on edge anymore because of your wild thoughts, and I don't want to see you lose it like that again."
After saying this, Asva turned and left the lab without even looking at her.
Only Cressida remained in the lab.
Cressida stood there in a daze, cold from head to toe.
——
Aquilonia.
Lumaria.
A car stopped in front of the Taylor Villa.
Bianca got out of the car.
A few months ago, when the SAT scores came out, everyone knew Isabella had scored 1490 on the SAT, while she had performed poorly and barely qualified for an ordinary university.
Following Kieran's suggestion, Bianca signed with an entertainment company and decided to enter show business. She joined a talent competition show.
The training camp schedule was very tight, and in a flash, she hadn't been back for over a month.
"Ms. Taylor?"
Yves was surprised to see her. "Why are you back?"
Bianca smiled. "I came back to see my mother."
"Mrs. Taylor is inside. Ms. Taylor, please come in."
Bianca followed Yves inside.
"Mom, I brought you a gift."
"Bianca, you're already back, why bring me a gift?" Olivia took the item from her hand and looked her over with concern. "Was it hard at the training camp? You've lost weight."
"It wasn't hard. I made lots of new friends at the training camp. I'm very happy."
Bianca glanced around the living room and asked tentatively in a low voice, "Mom, Isabella... hasn't come home yet?"
At the mention of Isabella, the smile on Olivia's face instantly disappeared.
"No."
Olivia's tone was stiff, and her expression wasn't pleasant. "I might as well consider her dead out there!"
She really hadn't expected Isabella to run away from home.
And Isabella had been gone for half a year without any news!
She called Isabella and was blocked. Hayden called her and was also blocked. Everyone from the Taylor family who called her was blocked by Isabella.
Olivia was almost laughing from anger.
Just a few months ago when the SAT scores came out, she was quite happy to learn that Isabella scored 1490.
But she never expected that after taking the SAT, Isabella would vanish into thin air.
No matter what they did, they couldn't find where Isabella was!
When people asked her where her biological daughter went, she didn't know how to answer.
Because she didn't know where Isabella was either.
Ridiculous, right?
She was clearly Isabella's biological mother, but Isabella didn't care about her at all. Isabella didn't even tell her where she was going and directly blocked her.
Bianca felt relieved to learn that Isabella hadn't come home.
She was glad Isabella had disappeared.
That way, no one would compete with her for the position of the Taylor family's daughter.
Bianca's eyes shifted, showing a somewhat worried expression. "Mom, Isabella has been gone for so long and hasn't come back. Did something bad happen to her? I'm a bit worried about her. Should you have Dad send more people to look for her?"
"Something bad happen to her?" Olivia sneered. "What could happen to her? She's doing just fine. She just doesn't care about me as her mother!"
When Isabella first went missing, Olivia had thought about that possibility. She really thought Isabella had been kidnapped or something.
Until she went to Celestial Jewels and asked around, she learned that Isabella had been in contact with Lila all along. Isabella had been remotely directing matters related to Celestial Jewels' operations. However, she hadn't told Lila where she was over the phone either.
Since Isabella was fine, why didn't she come home?
The more Olivia thought about it, the angrier she got.
She just felt that Isabella didn't care about her at all! Didn't care about this family. She was an ungrateful wretch!
Bianca said nothing more.
"Mom, I'll go upstairs to rest. Don't be angry with Isabella. Maybe she just went out to have fun. She'll come back naturally when she's had enough."
After Bianca went upstairs, Olivia thought about Isabella, her expression growing darker.
After all, Isabella was a piece of flesh that fell from her body. She couldn't really not miss her.
But even though she missed Isabella so much, sometimes even losing sleep over Isabella running away from home, Isabella didn't seem to think about her at all! Was this how a daughter should behave? Was Isabella planning to disown her as a mother?
Olivia felt this couldn't go on. She got up and went to the police station.
If she couldn't find Isabella, surely the police could?
No matter where Isabella was, she had to come back! Blood relations couldn't be severed. Even if Isabella ran to the ends of the earth, she was still Isabella's mother.
——
Police station.
Olivia walked in and happened to run into a familiar officer, Lazar.
"Mrs. Taylor? What brings you here?"
Lazar looked at her and asked eagerly, "Did something happen?"
Olivia's expression wasn't good. "My daughter is missing. I want to file a report."
"Missing?" Lazar was shocked at first, then his expression became serious. He quickly brought Olivia into the office. "What happened? When did this happen? Was she kidnapped?"
The Taylor family was a prominent household after all. For families like this, a child going missing wasn't uncommon—most were kidnapping cases.
"Half a year ago, after the SAT ended," Olivia said.
Lazar paused and looked at her in shock. "She went missing half a year ago, and you're only reporting it now?"
Olivia pressed her lips together, then said coldly, "Actually, it's not really missing. She ran away from home. But she's still in contact with her secretary, she just blocked all of us family members. We can't find her no matter what, and we don't know where she went. It's been half a year and she still hasn't come home."
As Olivia talked about this, she felt wronged, feeling stifled inside. "Lazar, tell me, how can there be such a daughter? It wasn't my fault that she got lost back then. Is she resenting me? Is that why she ran away from home less than a year after coming back? No matter what, I'm still her biological mother. Doesn't she miss me at all?"
"Mrs. Taylor, please don't worry." Lazar poured her a glass of water and asked calmly, "You said your daughter ran away from home half a year ago after the SAT ended, right? From what you're saying, the one who's missing is the daughter you just found, Isabella?"
Lazar had heard about the Taylor family's situation and naturally knew about the switched children incident.
"Yes, it's her," Olivia nodded.
"Are you sure she just ran away from home and didn't meet with some accident?"
"I'm sure. She has been in contact with the secretary at her jewelry company. She sends several work emails every week. Her secretary showed me the emails—they're all about the jewelry company's operations."
"So she's in contact with other people, just not with you?"
"Exactly." Olivia said with an unpleasant expression. "And she was accepted by Stellar University but didn't go to register. She just disappeared. Stellar University has called several times, hoping she can enroll as soon as possible even though she missed the start date. I don't know how to explain this to Stellar University."
Lazar thought for a moment. "Do you and your daughter have some conflict? Is that why she ran away from home in anger?"
"What conflict could there be?" Olivia said impatiently. "She's my biological daughter. Even if there's a conflict, she shouldn't just run away from home, and for half a year at that. You can find her, right? Please help me find her. I want her to come back right now!"
"Alright, please don't get worked up. Please sit here for a moment. I'll help you look into your daughter's whereabouts right now."
In the age of big data, finding a person wasn't difficult. First was transportation information, then bank transaction information. These could basically pinpoint a person's whereabouts and general area of activity.
Lazar quickly found Isabella's current location.
"Mrs. Taylor, look, this is Isabella's flight information. You said she went missing half a year ago, right? Sure enough, half a year ago she took a flight to the Northern Ice Empire."
"Northern Ice Empire?" Olivia frowned, finding it somewhat unbelievable. "What's she doing there?"
The Northern Ice Empire was the world's most powerful nation. Its economic and cultural development was a hundred years ahead of Lumaria, and it held a significant position internationally. Almost no country dared to provoke the Northern Ice Empire.
"Did she not come back after going there?" Olivia asked.
"It appears not at the moment," Lazar said. "Because there's no other flight information for her. Unless she took private transportation, she should still be in the Northern Ice Empire and hasn't returned."
"I see..." Olivia was stunned.
She couldn't understand why Isabella would go to the Northern Ice Empire.
And Isabella had gone and never returned.
"Sir, can you contact my daughter and bring her back?" Olivia asked.
"We can try."
