Chapter 392 Administrator Privileges
If someone who wasn't an administrator tried to enter an administrator password, they would be treated as a troublemaker, thrown out by security, and banned from approaching the research institute's entrance again.
Isabella nodded with an unchanged expression.
The staff member led Isabella to a machine. "Please enter your administrator password here. If your password is correct, we'll issue you an access card for the entrance, making it easier for you to come and go in the future."
Isabella entered a six-digit password on the machine: "091209"
"Don't listen to her, she couldn't possibly have an administrator password!" Jerald said. "Look at her—does she look like management staff here?"
Jerald really hadn't expected that this staff member would actually allow Isabella to enter an administrator password.
Jasmine, Theodosia, and the others looked at Isabella like she was an idiot. They couldn't understand how Isabella dared to falsely claim she had an administrator password. Who did she think she was?
They all showed looks of disdain and contempt.
After the password was entered, the screen displayed "Loading."
Then Isabella's facial photo appeared.
The display showed:
The machine prompted: "Password correct!"
"Facial recognition correct!"
"Please enter your fingerprint!"
Isabella pressed her finger on it.
A few seconds later, the machine prompted:
"Fingerprint correct!"
"..."
The machine's successive prompts rang out.
In an instant, all the color drained from Jerald's face.
How was this possible?
Jerald was utterly incredulous. He stared straight at Isabella. "How could you possibly have administrator access here?"
This completely exceeded Jerald's understanding.
Who exactly was Isabella?
Why did she have administrator access to the Powell family research institute?
Jasmine's gaze also froze. Her eyes fell directly on Isabella, her mind somewhat confused.
The staff member was the first to react. Looking at Isabella again, his tone became nervous. "Miss, please wait, I'll go get you an access card for the entrance right away."
The staff member went and returned quickly, handing a brand new access card to Isabella with a very respectful attitude. "Please go in. If you have any problems, feel free to find me anytime."
"Thank you." Isabella swiped the card to open the gate and walked in.
"Jerald, what are you still standing there for? Didn't you say you wanted to tour the research institute? Why aren't you going?" Isabella glanced at Jerald lightly.
Isabella's casual remark felt like a slap in Jerald's face. Jerald felt his face burning with pain. Just moments ago, to prevent Isabella from entering the Powell family's research institute, he had torn up Isabella's temporary pass. In the blink of an eye, Isabella had obtained a permanent access card, making his behavior look like a joke.
His eyes looking at Isabella now held more nervousness. "Isabella, how do you have..."
"What's it to you?" Isabella coldly interrupted him.
Jerald choked, feeling even more ashamed under Isabella's cold gaze.
He just couldn't figure out how Isabella could have administrator access to the Powell family research institute.
You have to know that many senior researchers here could at most only get low-level access to the research institute, yet Isabella directly had administrator access.
Who exactly was Isabella here? Did she have some relationship with one of the leaders here?
If that was really the case, should he change his attitude toward Isabella? After all, he was going to enter this research institute in the future.
As the group walked inside, many people looked at Isabella with strange expressions.
Too odd.
How exactly did Isabella manage this?
"Isabella, where did you get the administrator password?" Domingo lowered his voice by her ear. "Tell me honestly, do you have some identity we don't know about? Are you a researcher here? Or are you the daughter of some executive here?"
"I'm not a researcher here, but this research institute belongs to my family, so naturally I can get access here," Isabella said.
Domingo: "..."
Reid, who was nearby, also heard this and his mouth twitched slightly.
"Isabella, stop joking with me. Last time you told me you lived in the Powell family castle, and now you're saying the Powell family research institute belongs to your family. You're getting more and more outrageous each time!" Domingo complained.
He admired Isabella's imagination. She really dared to dream.
Kennedy glanced at Isabella and Domingo. When Isabella said the Powell family research institute belonged to her family, she had almost believed it. If Domingo hadn't said Isabella was joking, she would have actually been fooled by Isabella's joke!
Kennedy smiled at Isabella. "I almost believed it."
Isabella: "..."
"Fine, don't believe me then."
Isabella sighed and walked forward leisurely.
She knew that no matter what she said, they wouldn't believe her. Even if she told them her mother was Gwyneth, they definitely wouldn't believe it either.
Cecilia walked with Jasmine and the others. She occasionally glanced in Isabella's direction, biting her lip.
Since Isabella had administrator access to the Powell family research institute, she felt that maybe she could be friends with her after all. Maybe she'd need her help in the future...
As Cecilia was thinking this, a sharp female voice suddenly rang in her ear:
"Cecilia, what are you looking at?"
Jasmine stared at Cecilia with cold eyes. "What? Keep looking over at Isabella—do you want to go talk to her? Planning to betray us?"
Cecilia was startled, her face immediately turning pale. "No, I was just curious how Isabella got administrator access..."
"It's just access, what's the big deal?" A flash of disgust crossed Jasmine's eyes.
"I'm warning you, Cecilia. I'm now completely at odds with Isabella. If you dare to suck up to her, I'll destroy you!"
Jasmine said viciously.
Isabella had insisted on going to Red Ridge Pier late at night, causing her family to lose 1.3 billion dollars. She would definitely not let Isabella have a good ending!
Thinking this, Jasmine looked at Isabella with eyes that wished she could cut her into a thousand pieces.
The person from the research institute responsible for liaising with Radiant University was a young woman.
The woman wore black high heels and a lab coat. The ID badge on the upper left of her clothing read: "Senior Researcher, Cressida Vale."
"You're the students from Radiant University?" Cressida looked at everyone with a superior attitude. "I'm here to supervise you."
"Floors one through three, you can tour freely, but don't go to the fourth floor and above! If you accidentally enter a research lab or if any materials go missing from a lab, you can't bear that responsibility!"
This research institute belonged to the Powell family. If they caused any loss to the institute, no one could bear the Powell family's accountability.
Jerald knew Cressida—one of the few senior researchers at the Powell family research institute and one of this year's candidates for outstanding physicist.
You have to know that if he entered the Powell family research institute, he would start as a junior researcher. Only after reaching senior researcher level could he qualify to participate in major projects and accumulate major project experience. After accumulating enough experience, he could apply for the outstanding physicist selection, and only then could he gain the qualification to change his surname.
And Cressida, so young, had already accumulated enough major project experience. She was only one step away from changing her surname to Powell.
So there was still a big gap between him and Cressida.
"Don't worry, Ms. Vale, I won't let my students wander around," Jerald said.
Just as Jerald finished speaking, a female researcher rushed over, looking very flustered.
"Cressida, there's a problem with a computer—it can't receive experimental data. You need to go up and check it out right away!"
Hearing this, Cressida looked at Jerald. "Jerald, I have something to deal with. You take the students on the tour first. I'll come back when I'm done."
Without waiting for Jerald to say anything, Cressida hurried off.
Jerald watched Cressida leave, then pointed ahead. "Let's go check that out."
After touring the first floor, Isabella sat down to rest.
A young man came out of the elevator. Seeing Isabella, he quickly walked toward her.
He came up to Isabella and said respectfully, "Ms. Isabella Powell."
Isabella looked up, somewhat puzzled as she looked at the man. "You are?"
"I'm Asva Powell. I was responsible for entering your administrator identity information. I've seen your facial photo, so I recognized you," Asva said.
Isabella saw the ID badge on the upper left of his clothing, which read "Senior Researcher."
"Ms. Isabella Powell, you came to tour with Radiant University this time, right?" Asva asked.
Isabella nodded.
"You've been touring all morning—you must be hungry. I have a coffee and a dessert here."
Asva handed over the coffee and dessert in his hands.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." Asva smiled. "I'm on the third floor. If you need anything, feel free to find me anytime."
Not far away, Cressida and a female researcher had just come out of the elevator and saw this scene.
"Cressida, isn't that Asva? Why is he with a female student?" the female researcher asked.
Cressida's brow furrowed slightly.
Cressida naturally saw clearly Asva's gesture of handing the dessert and coffee to the girl.
"Learning to seduce men at such a young age—how interesting," Cressida sneered.
Asva was her boyfriend—handsome, gentle, accomplished at a young age, and a member of the Powell family. Having Asva as a boyfriend had always been Cressida's pride.
Almost all the female researchers envied her.
And some female researchers, even knowing she was Asva's girlfriend, would still desperately try to get close to Asva.
Cressida had a strong sense of crisis, so she kept a tight grip on Asva. She didn't want to miss out on such a good man.
But Asva also gave her enough security. He never had any contact with other women in the research institute, except for work-related exchanges.
This was the first time Cressida had seen Asva be so warm and attentive to a girl, directly giving her his own dessert and coffee.
Cressida immediately felt a strong sense of crisis!
After Asva left, Cressida walked over. She looked at Isabella, her gaze scrutinizing.
After a few seconds, she said coldly, "You're pretty clever. You know this opportunity isn't easy for you, so you hurry to find an excellent man to hook up with, is that it?"
