Chapter 383 Directly Throw Jerald Out of the Window
Jerald was firmly restrained by Isabella, furious with humiliation. "You're crazy!"
"Isabella! You're completely out of control!"
Jerald gritted his teeth, but still couldn't break free from Isabella's grip.
"Let me tell you, Isabella, don't even think about graduating! I'll never let you graduate! You have no respect for your elders, so rebellious. If this wasn't Radiant University, protected by the seven great families, with your attitude, you'd have died a thousand times over out there!"
Isabella's face darkened slightly. "Are you done talking?"
"As long as I'm here, you'll never graduate. I'll make sure you get kicked out of here. Just wait, Isabella, you'll regret this!"
"Looks like you've got endless things to say."
Isabella dragged Jerald straight to the window.
Then, under Reid and Domingo's shocked gazes, Isabella threw Jerald right out the window.
The sound of a heavy object hitting the ground came from outside.
Reid and Domingo were stunned.
This was bad.
Who could have seen this coming?
Isabella actually threw Jerald out the window.
Was this getting a bit too serious?
——
Jerald was thrown out from the third-floor window and landed on the road. Students passing by all stopped to watch.
It seemed like someone had jumped from here before, and now the scene was happening again. The students were quite surprised.
"Is there something wrong with this lab building?"
Jerald was in too much pain to get up.
He even wondered if he had internal injuries.
Crazy!
Jerald gritted his teeth.
Isabella was a lunatic!
He'd been teaching at this school for over ten years and had never encountered anything like this—actually being thrown out!
"Jerald, are you okay?"
Someone recognized Jerald.
Jerald endured the pain and waved his hand. "I'm fine."
"Jerald, why did you..." A female student looked at him, confused, and pursed her lips. "Why couldn't you think straight? Did something go wrong in your life? And even if you were going to jump, you should have picked a higher floor. What if you end up half-dead? Wouldn't that be even more painful?"
Jerald: "..."
"I didn't jump."
He certainly couldn't say he'd gotten into an argument with a student and been thrown out by that student.
"I just accidentally fell."
As Jerald spoke, he limped away under everyone's bewildered stares.
——
The next day, many people were talking about Jerald jumping from the building.
The news even reached Gabriella.
Gabriella called Jerald to her office and asked him, puzzled, "What happened? Why am I hearing that you had thoughts of ending your life?"
She really thought Jerald was under too much pressure.
In any country, the academic path was tough.
She knew Jerald's ambitions went beyond just being a teacher at Radiant University.
Jerald's ambitions indeed lay elsewhere. He came to Radiant University purely to pave the way for entering the Powell family's physics research institute.
All research institutes in the Northern Ice Empire were directly managed by the seven great families, and the physics research institute was specifically established by the Powell family. So the Powell family's physics research institute was essentially the national physics research institute.
Once you entered the Powell family's physics research institute, you could be assigned to participate in key national projects. If he made contributions to a project and was recognized as an outstanding physicist, he could rise to the top in one step and gain the qualification to change his surname and join the Powell family.
Currently, the Powell family's physics research institute had three outstanding physicists who were outsiders who joined the Powell family through this method. And once you became part of the Powell family, you could enjoy the Powell family's resources. All key projects invested in by the Powell family would prioritize you—basically fame and fortune combined.
Jerald came from a very ordinary background and had gotten to where he was through academic research. He knew very well how much power the nobility held in the Northern Ice Empire.
Who didn't yearn for power and influence?
If he could turn his life around and become one of the seven great families, his entire family would benefit, and the whole McClellan family would rise with him.
That's why he cared so much about the excellent professor selection.
If he became an excellent professor, with that honor, his chances of entering the Powell family research institute would be much greater.
Unfortunately, Isabella had ruined everything!
Thinking about this, Jerald still hated her to the bone.
"I had no thoughts of ending my life." Jerald said, "I was reaching for a tree branch outside the window and accidentally fell out."
Gabriella: "..."
She knew Jerald wasn't telling the truth, but Gabriella really couldn't figure out how Jerald had fallen out the window.
"Jerald, don't put too much pressure on yourself." Gabriella just comforted him. "With your credentials, getting into the Powell family's physics research institute shouldn't be a problem."
There was no false comfort in her words.
After all, Jerald had participated in quite a few key projects at the academy, with impressive results.
"I heard this year the Powell family physics research institute is offering fewer spots than last year. I just hope they won't be too strict this year." Jerald said.
Last year he had participated in the Powell family physics research institute interview and was rejected because his papers didn't meet the standard—not enough quantity and not enough quality.
So this year he published two more high-quality papers to add weight to his application. Originally, he was hoping that if he could win this year's excellent professor honor, his chances of passing the interview would be even greater.
He took a deep breath.
The Powell family physics research institute interview was coming up. This time, he had to succeed.
"Jerald, there's one more thing I wanted to talk to you about." Gabriella continued. "Otis Jenkins, who teaches mechanics for the class of '89, was in a car accident and took leave. So I'd like to ask you to temporarily take over the mechanics class for the class of '89. Would that be okay?"
Jerald was primarily an expert in mechanics, which is why Gabriella approached him.
"No problem." Jerald naturally had no reason to refuse.
Gabriella smiled. "Thanks for your help."
She didn't forget to remind him: "There's a mechanics class for the class of '89 tomorrow morning. Don't forget to coordinate with Otis about the content and prepare tonight."
——
Isabella had spent all morning making a model only to have Jerald smash it. Her mood was terrible, to say the least.
Although remaking it wasn't difficult for her, it would take time.
Isabella temporarily left the lab to buy an iced drink from the vending machine on the first floor. She felt she really needed to cool down.
By coincidence, as soon as she went downstairs, she ran into Yasmin.
Yasmin had come looking for her.
She was holding some documents.
"Got something to ask you." Yasmin said.
Isabella took out a cola from the vending machine, opened it, and looked at Yasmin while drinking. "What is it?"
"The physics research institute's recruitment is starting soon. Do you want to join?"
"No." Isabella shook her head without hesitation.
"Not interested?" Yasmin asked.
"I'm really not interested in research and stuff. Doing experiments every day is already annoying enough, and the research institute is really demanding."
Hearing this, Yasmin smiled helplessly. "Alright then."
