Chapter 33 The Land Delivery Issue Is Likely Off
There are many people with the last name Brown.
But there's only one person surnamed Brown who gets addressed with such respect by Ryder.
That would be William, the head of the Brown Family—one of the four great families!
Looking at the man again, he stood tall with a stern face. His eyes showed little emotion, yet he exuded an inexplicable sense of pressure from deep within.
Indigo suddenly snapped back to reality.
The person in front of her was... William?!
In an instant, Indigo felt a chill run from head to toe, finally understanding why Ryder was so furious with her.
She didn't dare breathe, her face turned pale, and her legs trembled uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Brown..." Indigo finally couldn't withstand the pressure, her voice shaking as she spoke. "I made a big deal out of nothing. I shouldn't have been disrespectful to you. It's all my fault."
The whole room erupted in commotion.
"This person is actually William!"
"I heard Ryder owns a piece of land that the Brown Group took interest in and included in their development plans. Ryder was quite generous—to get in good with the Brown Family, he actually offered to give the land to William as a gift. That's why William came here personally to discuss the land deal with Ryder."
Otherwise, why would someone from the Brown Family lower themselves to come to this kind of event?
"You know what, Ryder's pretty smart. So many people want to give land to the Brown Group but don't get the chance. He's just lucky that the Brown Group happened to want his land."
"Plus, I heard this William is super low-key. He never appears publicly in the media, and very few people know what he looks like. No wonder Ms. Indigo Rodriguez didn't recognize him."
"Indigo's got some nerve. She was just demanding that Mr. Brown be thrown out."
"She's in trouble now."
"Just because she's latched onto the Martinez Family doesn't mean much. The Martinez Family, no matter how powerful, can't even break into the annual rankings of the four great families. The Brown Family, ranked ahead of them, has held their position for decades without being challenged! I think she got carried away and forgot her place."
"Mr. Brown." Ryder looked at William, only daring to speak softly. "I'm truly sorry. Our Indigo offended you. Let me apologize to you again on her behalf."
William's face was dark as water. He didn't say he forgave her, nor did he say he didn't.
Just then, David rushed over to William's side after taking a phone call. "Mr. Brown, there's a problem with that shipment from Eldoria..."
Hearing this, William's expression changed. Without another glance at Ryder, he hurried away.
Ryder's eyes followed his retreating figure. He wanted to say something, but the words died on his lips.
The land deal was probably dead.
Ryder angrily glared at Abigail and Indigo before turning to go upstairs.
With the truth revealed, people looked at Abigail with strange expressions.
"This Ms. Abigail Rodriguez is really domineering and unreasonable."
"If Mr. Brown hadn't happened to see it just now, she would have completely twisted the truth!"
No one would question what William said. Since William said he saw it, everyone naturally believed that Abigail had bumped into Isabella herself but then turned around and blamed her.
"Actually, I saw it too." Someone spoke up quietly.
Earlier, seeing the Rodriguez Family's aggressive attitude, they didn't dare speak up. But now that everyone was criticizing Abigail, there was nothing to worry about.
"It really was Abigail who bumped into that girl. It looked intentional."
Indigo's expression changed slightly. She frowned at Abigail. "What exactly happened?"
Didn't she say that girl deliberately bumped into her?
Abigail's face darkened as people talked over each other. She bit her lip, not knowing how to defend herself. "Sis, I just..."
How could Indigo not understand her? Seeing her like this, she knew Abigail had indeed wrongly accused someone. Her face immediately darkened. "Abigail!"
"Do you know how much trouble you just caused?!"
Indigo hadn't expected to be used like that. Heartbroken with anger, she didn't want to look at Abigail anymore and stormed off.
Abigail was too angry to speak. She could only glare at Isabella through gritted teeth.
This was all her fault!
If it weren't for trying to teach that bitch Isabella a lesson, she never would have caused such an embarrassing scene.
——
"Mr. Brown, did you really see it?"
David was driving, unable to contain his curiosity. He glanced at the figure hidden in the corner of the back seat.
Hearing this, William looked up slightly, confused. "See what?"
David: "That it really was Abigail who bumped into that girl?"
William said flatly, "Not sure."
David: "...?"
What do you mean not sure?
"Didn't you say you saw..."
"Didn't see it." William's tone carried a hint of impatience.
David was speechless.
Wait, you didn't see anything but stood up and made stuff up? Is that appropriate?
But then David thought about it.
He was William. There was no such thing as "making stuff up" for him. Whatever he said was the truth.
Still, David didn't understand.
William clearly stayed out of everything except work and didn't care about anyone unrelated to him. When did he start meddling in other people's business?
Watching the drama was one thing, but actually stepping forward to give false testimony for a girl he'd never met?
"By the way, Mr. Brown, we just left like that. What about the Rodriguez Family's land..."
"Don't want it."
——
After all that chaos, Olivia had no mood to stay at the Rodriguez Family's event any longer. She took Isabella and Bianca home.
Thinking about the ridicule and humiliation she'd suffered, Olivia could no longer contain her fury. As soon as Yves handed her a coffee cup, she smashed it heavily at Isabella's feet.
"What's wrong with you? Why do you always cause me trouble?"
Isabella looked at her quietly, saying nothing.
There it was again!
Looking at her with those cold, indifferent eyes. No matter what she said, it was like punching cotton—completely powerless.
Olivia felt like she was going to die of anger. "I'm talking to you. Are you mute?"
Isabella looked expressionlessly at the hysterical woman in front of her. "You saw it. It was Abigail who was looking for trouble with me."
Not her looking for trouble.
Olivia sneered. "Abigail doesn't bother Bianca, doesn't bother anyone else—why does she only bother you?"
Isabella shrugged. "That's a question you should ask Abigail."
