Chapter 304 He Has Deprived You of the Opportunity for Promotion
On the other side, Knox walked up to Ollie and the guards.
"Knox! You're saying Ms. Powell is sick? Why is she treating Isabella so differently! This Isabella is clearly a fraud!"
It was bad enough that Isabella had been scamming food and drinks, but now she'd even conned Gwyneth into favoring her so much.
He never imagined Gwyneth would trust Isabella this much. If he'd known earlier, he never would have made that bet with Isabella.
Knox looked at the furious Ollie and pressed his lips together.
Ollie had left before him, so he didn't know about Gwyneth's later announcement that she wanted to take Isabella as her apprentice. If Ollie found out, he'd probably be even more angry.
Knox glanced at him and said, "You lost the bet with Ms. Taylor. What are you going to do about it?"
Ollie's face immediately turned ugly.
He'd said before that if he lost, he would resign from his position as deputy head of the guards at the Powell family castle.
Ollie clenched his fists and said darkly, "I absolutely will not resign from my position as deputy head!"
If he resigned, wouldn't that be exactly what Isabella wanted?
Isabella had just come out and heard Ollie say this. A glint of interest flashed in her eyes. "People need face like trees need bark. I didn't expect you to throw away all shame, Ollie. You're already planning to go back on the promise you just made when betting with me?"
Ollie turned to look at the approaching Isabella, hatred flashing in his eyes. "So what if I don't honor it? You bitch, how long are you going to keep deceiving Ms. Powell? Sooner or later, I'll expose your true colors!"
"Oh really?" Isabella raised an eyebrow. "Then tell me, what are my true colors?"
Ollie glared at Isabella. "Your true colors are that you're a fraud!"
"No, actually my true colors are that I'm your daddy."
Ollie: "......"
"You......"
"I'll kill you!"
Ollie really didn't expect her to say something so outrageous. The veins on his forehead bulged immediately, and he swung his palm toward Isabella.
Isabella watched Ollie's movement with cold mockery in her eyes.
As she dodged to the side, she grabbed Ollie's arm with one hand, applied a little force, and flipped Ollie to the ground.
Ollie cried out in pain.
Ollie scrambled up from the ground and, in his rage, tried to attack Isabella again, but Knox held him back.
Knox looked at him with a serious expression. "Enough! You're no match for Ms. Taylor at all. Why humiliate yourself?"
Sometimes he really couldn't understand Ollie's impulsiveness and recklessness.
"Knox is right. You've been defeated by me over and over again - you're only embarrassing yourself." Isabella looked at him calmly. "However, I just want to say that since we already made a bet, I hope you'll keep your promise and go find Gwyneth yourself to resign from your position."
"What can you do to me if I don't!" Ollie shouted.
Isabella shrugged and turned to the guards present. "Everyone witnessed Ollie's bet with me just now. Now that he's lost, he should resign from his deputy guard position. Once he resigns, a new deputy head will be chosen from among you. But now Ollie plans to go back on his word - this is basically robbing you of your chance for promotion!"
Hearing this, the guards immediately started discussing among themselves.
That's right! As long as Ollie resigned, they'd need to select a new deputy head.
That meant they all had a chance to compete for the deputy head position!
They'd never thought about this aspect before.
But now that they understood this, the guards were suddenly ambitious!
The deputy head's salary and benefits were three times that of an ordinary guard!
They all wanted this opportunity!
"Ollie, we all saw you bet with Ms. Taylor just now. Now that you've lost, Ollie, you really should keep your promise and resign voluntarily!"
"Exactly, Ollie, we men can't go back on our word!"
"We all agreed to witness for Ms. Taylor just now. Ollie, don't blame us for being fair rather than loyal..."
Hearing these words, Ollie was furious. He really didn't expect Isabella to be so vicious - this was blatantly driving a wedge between him and the guards!
These people had clearly been his brothers before, but now they'd all turned and were loudly calling for him to step down!
How outrageous!
"You people are completely blinded by greed!" Ollie stared at the guards, almost grinding his teeth to dust. "With just one sentence from her, you've all turned against me. Have you forgotten all our brotherhood?"
Isabella smiled and said slowly, "If you're brothers, then you should resign from the deputy head position. Why are you hogging the position and not giving other brothers a chance?"
Isabella's words were very clever. The word "hogging" made the guards feel as if something that belonged to them had been snatched away by Ollie, and they all frowned.
Someone spoke up directly: "A real man keeps his word! Ollie, you're going back on your word. Someone like you leading us - I really can't accept it!"
"That's right! If you lose, you should admit it. We don't need someone who breaks promises and dodges responsibility to lead us!"
The guards were worked up and directly started protesting, saying that if Ollie was going to shamelessly continue as deputy head, they would no longer follow any of his orders!
Things had somehow escalated.
Ollie looked at the rebellious guards, very angry.
He turned angrily toward Isabella, gritting his teeth. "Isabella! Are you doing this on purpose? You're trying to force me to resign, aren't you? I really didn't see it - you're so smooth-tongued, stirring up trouble!"
Isabella said with a cold laugh, "How am I stirring up trouble? Weren't you the one who insisted on betting with me just now? Now asking you to honor the bet doesn't seem wrong, does it? If I were you, I'd definitely honor the bet and not give people something to talk about. Otherwise, how will you continue working here in the future?"
Ollie's face turned extremely ugly. He glared at Isabella through gritted teeth, wishing he could tear her to pieces.
But he couldn't do anything. Not only could he do nothing, he couldn't say anything either.
Knox saw the situation gradually getting out of control and, worried it would affect their patrol work, also looked coldly at Ollie and said, "Ollie, since those were your own words, then go find Ms. Powell to honor them and voluntarily request to resign from your position!"
Ollie didn't expect Knox to also advise him to resign. A flash of disbelief crossed his eyes as he said, "Even you want me to step down?"
