Chapter 301 She Sure Thinks Beautifully
"Ms. Powell, you can actually hypnotize exotic beasts now?" Wilmer looked at the scene in disbelief.
It wasn't that exotic beasts couldn't be hypnotized, it's just that very few people could do it to this extent.
But this was only temporary. Soon, the python's eyes focused again, as if it had briefly disconnected and then came back online. With its dead-fish-like eyes, it lunged fiercely at Gwyneth and Isabella again.
However, during those few seconds it was hypnotized, Gwyneth had already snatched the knife from Wilmer's hand, gotten onto the snake's back, and with a swift motion, sliced the massive snake in half.
After killing the python, Gwyneth tossed the knife back to Wilmer. She was somewhat displeased, her voice low, "Wilmer, you've slipped up twice. You need more practice."
Wilmer felt a bit guilty.
"Yes."
Isabella stared at the huge snake head that had fallen right in front of her, less than a meter away, her eyes full of astonishment.
The python died just like that?
The python that had been toying with her was easily killed by Gwyneth in just a few seconds?
Isabella looked at Gwyneth in shock.
Just how strong was Gwyneth?
Yet The Whispering Sect had people even more powerful than her.
So what was the limit of strength in this place?
Gwyneth looked down at Isabella lying on the ground, "Can you get up?"
Isabella slowly climbed to her feet, looking at Gwyneth with newfound admiration mixed with a pitiful expression.
"Can you be my master?"
"What?"
Gwyneth frowned, thinking she had heard wrong.
"Can you be my master? You're really strong, I want to learn from you." Isabella blinked as she spoke.
Gwyneth raised an eyebrow, glancing at her, "Don't you already have a master? If you suddenly want me as your master, even if I agreed, wouldn't your master mind?"
"I... my master, she... she's just my master in daily life. She's not as good at fighting as you." Isabella touched her nose, feeling a bit guilty, "And besides, she's disappeared, so..."
Gwyneth heard this and laughed coldly, "So you're abandoning your master to find a new one?"
Isabella: "..."
"Also, didn't you say you wanted to find your master?" Gwyneth asked again.
"Yes, I still need to find her."
"So if you find her one day, who would be your master—me or her?"
Isabella: "..."
Gwyneth looked at her speechless expression and somehow found it amusing. She smiled but said nothing more.
Just then, Knox spoke up: "Ms. Taylor, you're being delusional. With Ms. Powell's status, whether it's royal children or outstanding members of the Powell family, they all want her as their master. Ms. Powell letting you stay in the castle is already incredibly generous. How dare you ask her to take you as a student? You're really dreaming!"
He couldn't believe Isabella even dared to think it.
Who wouldn't be better for Gwyneth to take as a student? Taking a royal child would strengthen ties with the royal family, taking a Powell family member would strengthen the family...
But taking Isabella as a student? What would Gwyneth gain?
Why would she take someone completely unrelated to her as a student?
Besides, in the Northern Ice Empire, the master-student relationship was taken very seriously. The master was the student's support, and the student was the master's reputation. Once this relationship was announced, it meant telling all of Novaria that the two were inseparably connected, second only to family.
If you wanted to bully someone's student, you'd have to see if their master agreed first.
So if Gwyneth agreed, it would mean she'd have to protect Isabella forever, and even the entire Powell family would have to protect Isabella. That way, Isabella would basically be securing the most powerful backing for herself.
Nice try.
But that would never happen.
Hearing Knox say this, Isabella couldn't help but respond: "I'm pretty talented too. Whether it's the Martinez family head or Ollie, none of them are my match. I've also fought with outstanding Powell family members like Kismet and Finnegan, and they're not stronger than me either."
She looked at Gwyneth seriously and promised earnestly: "Gwyneth, if you take me as your student now, I'll definitely make you proud of me in the future!"
Gwyneth glanced at Isabella but said nothing.
As if she hadn't heard, she turned her attention back to the severed snake and instructed: "Knox, this snake is a rare exotic beast. Some parts of its body have medicinal value. Take some people and process it. Also, this tomb should be cleaned up."
"And notify the families of the guards who died because of the python and issue compensation."
Knox nodded vigorously, "Yes."
After Gwyneth arranged everything, she turned and walked toward the exit.
Isabella, still badly injured and clutching her aching chest, followed her. "Gwyneth, what do you think about what I just said? I'm very diligent. I'll definitely work hard and practice. I won't let you down!"
Knox watched Isabella eagerly following Gwyneth and was surprised she still hadn't given up.
Knox glanced at the silent Wilmer, "Do you think Ms. Powell will agree to take her as a student?"
Wilmer thought for a moment and said, "I disagree with you. I actually think she will."
Hearing this, Knox clicked his tongue twice. "You really are an ice block, completely unable to read people. Looks like I understand Ms. Powell better than you. Let me tell you, Ms. Powell will absolutely never take Ms. Taylor as a student."
Outside the tomb, in stark contrast to the inside, it was bright daylight with warm sunshine.
Gwyneth told Knox and Isabella to return to the castle first. She needed to see Pippa with Wilmer.
Gwyneth and Wilmer arrived at the cave where Pippa was being held.
Seeing Gwyneth, Ollie quickly bowed respectfully, "Ms. Powell."
"I'm going out tomorrow, and Pippa needs to come with me, so today I have a few things to say to Pippa," Gwyneth said.
Hearing this, Ollie immediately opened the stone door. "Ms. Powell, please go ahead. Pippa is inside."
Gwyneth and Wilmer walked into the cave one after the other, heading deeper inside.
Pippa was sleeping in its den.
Gwyneth went over and woke it up.
When Pippa opened its eyes and saw it was Gwyneth, it wiped away the drool from sleeping and happily nuzzled Gwyneth's hand with its head.
"Pippa, last time you told me you know Isabella."
"This time I want to ask you, who exactly is Isabella?"
Pippa froze, then started crying out anxiously.
Gwyneth: "...I don't understand."
Gwyneth tried a different approach. "Let me ask you this—do you know Isabella's master?"
Pippa's cries stopped. It seemed to hesitate for a moment, then shook its head.
"You don't know her master?"
Pippa started crying out anxiously again, then began nodding.
"What do you mean? You do know her master? Right?"
Pippa nodded vigorously, pawing at Gwyneth's clothes with its claws.
"Why are you pawing at me?" Gwyneth removed its paw. "Since you know her master, that means I also know her master, right?"
Pippa hesitated again, then nodded once more.
"I see." Gwyneth looked thoughtful. "So I am indeed acquainted with her master. That would explain why my crest ring ended up in her master's hands and was eventually given to her."
Gwyneth narrowed her eyes, thinking carefully.
What exactly was her relationship with Isabella's master?
