Chapter 256 Thirty-Six Nobles
Isabella quickly gathered her thoughts and greeted naturally, "Hello, Ms. Waverly."
"Rosalind, this is my girlfriend, Isabella." William introduced from the side.
Rosalind glanced at Isabella and curved her lips slightly.
Girlfriend?
So this was the girl Alton told her about, the one William was dating?
She really does have the face of a seductress.
But she didn't care at all.
A woman with only looks is nothing more than a man's plaything.
The woman who would end up with William could only be her.
Thinking this, Rosalind was full of contempt inside, but still maintained a perfectly measured smile on her face, "Hello, Ms. Taylor."
William's gaze swept over Rosalind, then turned to Isabella. His originally distant and cold eyes softened considerably, "Isabella, Rosalind was just talking to me about business matters in Novaria. However, she came today for another reason, related to our trip to Novaria."
Isabella paused, "What is it?"
"I've found out where they're auctioning the anti-Edra virus serum, but that place requires a Novarian noble to lead us in."
"The so-called Novarian nobles are different from nobles here in Lumaria. They must be from one of the thirty-six families on the noble list."
Every year, Novaria would select thirty-six representative noble families through elections. These families not only had the strongest wealth and power in Novaria, but also needed to have a certain social influence. Most importantly, they needed the approval of several top mysterious families.
"In short, you can't become one of the thirty-six nobles just by being rich."
"But fortunately, the Waverly family is one of the thirty-six nobles, on the noble list." William said, "So Rosalind can lead us into the auction venue as the second daughter of the Waverly family."
Rosalind also looked at Isabella and said, "That's right, I can lead you into the venue where they're auctioning the anti-Edra virus serum. Once inside, you'll have no restrictions and can bid on whatever you want."
Isabella hadn't expected Novaria to have so many rules, and these rules were clearly meant to emphasize class divisions. This way, ordinary people who hadn't connected with the thirty-six noble families didn't even have the qualification to enter.
No wonder someone like William needed to work with Rosalind. Without Rosalind smoothing the way, doing business in Novaria would probably be impossible.
Isabella looked at Rosalind, "Then we'll trouble you, Ms. Waverly."
"You're welcome." Rosalind smiled lightly.
She agreed to help entirely for William's sake. However, she didn't initially know that William was doing all this for Isabella, otherwise she wouldn't have volunteered to help.
Rosalind turned to look at William again, "William, then I'll go with you tomorrow. This time when you go to Novaria, you can also meet the clients there."
"Alright." William nodded slightly.
Rosalind glanced at Isabella once more before turning to leave.
Alton had appeared at some point and was standing at the study door. Seeing Rosalind come out, he was very attentive, "Ms. Waverly, let me see you out."
Rosalind smiled at him, "Alright, thank you."
Seeing Rosalind smile at him and thank him, Alton's heart raced.
Rosalind was gentle and dignified, so much better than Isabella.
Alton felt even more resentful. Why would William pass up a wonderful woman like Rosalind and instead fall for a worthless woman? William's taste was really terrible!
Alton led Rosalind to the courtyard and saw Tyrell practicing martial arts under a tree.
Rosalind watched for a moment and nodded with slight appreciation, "The Baldwin family's martial arts techniques are quite good."
Alton smiled, "Our little tricks aren't worth mentioning, they can't compare to you, Ms. Waverly."
Alton and Tyrell were cousins, both from the ancient martial arts family, the Baldwin family, but their family wasn't very famous, and they were far less skilled in ancient martial arts than other ancient martial arts families.
But Rosalind was different. Since the Waverly family could become one of the thirty-six nobles, their ancient martial arts foundation must be extraordinary. After all, Novaria respected the strong, and if they couldn't even rank in the top thirty-six in martial prowess, the Waverly family naturally couldn't be one of the thirty-six nobles.
In terms of ranking, the Baldwin family probably ranked outside the top hundred. Alton knew very well that he could never be a match for Rosalind.
Hearing Alton's words, Rosalind said, "Actually, there are hundreds of ancient martial arts families, each with their own characteristics. They're all equal."
Although Rosalind said this, Alton knew it was just a humble statement.
"Ms. Waverly, you don't need to be so modest. Although we're all ancient martial arts professionals, our abilities can be worlds apart."
Those ancient martial arts professionals who had trained to a certain level could even materialize their Inner Energy and kill with it.
Whether they mainly practiced fist techniques or leg techniques, once they trained to the extreme, they could fight ten or even a hundred opponents alone.
"And the ways of cultivating Inner Energy are different. Some people have mastered the fastest cultivation methods and can grow faster. Otherwise, how could those few families be so powerful?"
And the unique cultivation methods involved each family's secret techniques, which wouldn't be easily taught to outsiders.
Rosalind also sighed, "So the gap between the thirty-six nobles and those few families is inherent from birth."
The few families Rosalind mentioned referred to several mysterious families that weren't among the thirty-six nobles, but above them, holding an unshakable position in Novaria.
"Ms. Waverly, I wonder if I could spar with you?" Alton suddenly asked.
Rosalind smiled, "Of course."
Alton genuinely wanted to spar with Rosalind. He wanted to see the gap between himself and Rosalind, and also wanted to learn some techniques from her.
The two came to an open area.
Alton clasped his fists and bowed to Rosalind, "Ms. Waverly, don't hold back later, just attack freely."
Rosalind nodded, "Alright."
Alton took a deep breath, "Then I'm starting."
As his words fell, Alton swung his fist rapidly toward Rosalind.
He used seventy percent of his strength in this punch. Since he couldn't gauge Rosalind's abilities, he was still afraid of hurting her, so he didn't use full force.
Rosalind stood in place without dodging, simply raising her hand lightly and catching Alton's fist with one palm.
Seeing this, a flash of disbelief crossed Alton's eyes.
The next second, Rosalind's hand moved around Alton's hand and struck his chest with one palm.
Alton felt as if what hit his chest wasn't a hand, but a boulder. A tremendous force struck him, and unable to withstand it, Alton staggered back several meters!
This sparring match had no technique involved, just pure power overwhelming him.
Alton's eyes widened as he looked at Rosalind in disbelief.
He'd only heard that the Waverly family was powerful, but he hadn't expected them to be this powerful.
