Chapter 213 Is Isabella the One Clarence is Waiting For?
Chase smiled slightly and was about to say something when his phone rang.
Chase picked up his phone, "I'll take this call."
Grace said nothing, "Go ahead."
Chase pressed the answer button and walked out of the room, "Dad, what's up?"
"How are things going at the Baker Villa?"
"Still talking, but judging from Grace's attitude, this marriage shouldn't be a problem."
"Come back right now." Hayden said urgently, "We're calling off this engagement."
"What?" Chase froze, confused, "Why?"
"Clarence just called and said he can give this project to us, the Taylor Group."
"What?" A flash of shock crossed Chase's eyes, "Is this real?"
"Of course it's real." Hayden said, "Isabella is about to go meet Clarence. She says this time she can finalize the contract directly. Once we get the Crown District project, what does the Baker family's little bit of support matter? So come back right now! Don't complicate things!"
"Okay." Chase was somewhat dazed.
How did Isabella pull this off?
This morning Clarence wouldn't even agree to meet with Isabella.
But what Hayden said couldn't be fake.
——
In the living room, Grace kept sneering.
She glanced at Zachary and said slowly, "Did you hear that? Chase just said he not only wants to finalize the marriage immediately, but also wants Isabella to come apologize to me."
"Seems like they're eager to form ties with the Baker family."
"But that makes sense. Our Baker family's business is growing bigger and bigger. It's Isabella's good fortune that we're interested in her."
Zachary smiled along.
It seemed Isabella was quite willing to marry him.
Otherwise she wouldn't agree to come apologize in person. Her willingness to humble herself showed she cared about him.
Just then, Grace saw Chase coming in from outside.
She poured a cup of coffee directly and said with a smile, "Chase, come have some coffee. Since things are settled, we'll be family from now on. If the Taylor family needs any help with business in the future, just ask."
After Grace said this, she saw Chase standing there frozen and motionless.
"Chase?" Grace asked puzzled, "What's wrong?"
Chase snapped back to reality and said, "Sorry, Grace, let's call off this marriage. My sister isn't willing to marry Zachary."
Grace's expression immediately turned ugly, "Chase, what do you mean?"
Just now she was willing, and now she's not?
How can she keep changing her mind?
"Grace, my sister strongly resists marrying Zachary. As her brother, I won't force her."
Grace couldn't believe it, "She doesn't want to marry? What right does she have to refuse?"
Chase ignored her and turned to leave.
"Chase! Stop right there!" Grace was furious, "What exactly does the Taylor family mean? Do you want to form ties with the Baker family or not?"
"Not anymore." Chase said without looking back.
Grace clutched her chest, so angry she almost fainted on the spot.
Zachary watched Chase's retreating figure, clenched his fists, strode over, blocked his way, and frowned, "Chase, if you leave here today, Isabella will never have another chance to marry into the Baker family. Are you sure you want to leave like this?"
Chase thought about how the Baker family had deliberately made things difficult for him that afternoon, and a trace of sarcasm flashed in his eyes.
Before, they needed the Baker family's support, but now they clearly didn't need it anymore, so he said without any burden, "To be honest, my sister says she doesn't accept second-hand junk."
Leaving those words behind, Chase walked away.
"You—" Zachary's face darkened completely.
Second-hand junk?
Was she referring to him?
Is that what Isabella said about him?
Grace was also furious and said coldly, "Zachary, forget about her. One day Isabella will regret this."
Did Isabella think she was the daughter of one of the four major families? How dare she be so arrogant?
Missing this marriage opportunity, she would never find anyone better than their Zachary.
——
Isabella arrived downstairs at Ascend Global Group.
She saw Stanley again.
Seeing Stanley blocked outside the company entrance, Isabella smiled, "Isn't this someone from Zenith Global Group?"
"Didn't you say the Crown District project was yours for the taking? How did things come to this?"
Stanley's expression immediately turned ugly when he saw Isabella.
He didn't know why Clarence's attitude suddenly changed—not only refusing to sign the contract, but directly refusing to meet with him.
"What do you have to be smug about?" Stanley sneered, "You think the Taylor Group is any better off? Even if we don't get this project in the end, it won't go to the Taylor Group either!"
After all, he'd seen Clarence's attitude toward Isabella—absolutely terrible.
And from what he knew, Clarence temporarily changed his mind and planned to give the project to another company, and the reason Clarence hadn't come out all this time seemed to be because he was waiting for that company's representative.
Although he didn't know who Clarence wanted to give the project to, it definitely wouldn't be Isabella.
Stanley was thinking this when he saw Clarence's secretary walking over.
The secretary came straight to Isabella, very respectful, "Ms. Taylor, you're here. Our Mr. Fisher has been waiting for you. Please come with me."
"Okay."
Isabella lifted her feet and followed the secretary toward the elevator.
Stanley watched Isabella's retreating figure in shock, unable to believe what he was seeing.
He rushed to follow, but was stopped by security, "Mr. Ortiz, please don't go up and disturb Mr. Fisher!"
Stanley was held by the security guards, staring intently at Isabella, nearly grinding his teeth to dust.
He simply couldn't believe it.
Could the person Clarence was waiting for be Isabella?
How could this be?
——
"Ms. Taylor, you're here."
When Clarence saw the secretary bring Isabella in, he quickly stood up and greeted her with a smile, "Ms. Taylor, what would you like to drink? Coffee or a beverage?"
Isabella sat down on the sofa, "Mr. Fisher, no need to be so polite. Let's talk business directly."
Clarence also quickly sat down, "Ms. Taylor, about my shipment..."
Clarence was out of options. He'd contacted many people, but no one could solve this problem for him.
"I already made a phone call on my way here. Don't worry, your shipment has been inspected and there's no problem. They won't hold it up anymore." Isabella said.
Clarence was delighted, "Really?"
"If you don't believe me, you can check."
Before Clarence could do anything, a phone call came in.
Clarence answered the phone and heard the other person say, "Clarence, I have good news for you. They said they won't hold your goods anymore and will release them tonight. Now you can relax."
