Chapter 159 I Will Definitely Get Back Leqi's Things for Her!
Sofia's tears kept falling.
"Bianca, do you know how Isabella got that spot?" someone asked.
Bianca shook her head, looking confused herself.
She had never expected Isabella to be on the list at all.
"Isabella isn't even in the international class. This isn't right or fair!"
The complaints grew louder.
Claire said weakly, "I saw Isabella's registration form last time. She did... sign up."
"Why would someone from the regular class sign up? This spot is for our international class. Only seven spots for both classes combined - they're so hard to get. What right does she have to take one? It should clearly be Sofia's. Everyone knows how good Sofia is at calligraphy!"
Hearing this, Sofia cried even harder.
Suddenly, the classroom door was pushed open. Sofia's boyfriend Sidney Lawson came in from the class next door. He glanced at Sofia lying on her desk, saw her crying, and quickly pulled out tissues for her. "Sofia, don't cry."
He turned to look at Bianca, very unhappy. "What's the deal with your sister who came back from the countryside? The spot that should have been Sofia's - why did she get it?"
Bianca looked innocent. "Sidney, I don't know how this happened either. My sister has never studied calligraphy. I never thought she would sign up for a calligraphy competition."
And actually make it onto the participant list...
"That's ridiculous. Never studied calligraphy but wants to join a calligraphy competition? Bianca, why don't you control her?"
Sidney fired questions at Bianca, and the boys who liked Bianca immediately couldn't sit still.
"Sidney, what does this have to do with Bianca? Why are you targeting her?"
"Exactly. If you want to find someone, go find Isabella!"
"Bianca has always thought of her classmates first. She didn't even take one of the school's spots. If it weren't for Bianca, Sofia wouldn't even have had a chance! How can you blame Bianca?"
"Fine! Then I'll go find Isabella!"
"I'll definitely get Sofia's spot back for her!"
Sidney stormed out of the classroom and headed toward the regular class building.
"This is going to be good!"
Everyone ran out after him.
Soon, Sidney and his group were blocking the entrance to Class 11.
"Isabella, it's a bunch of people from the international class. They seem to be looking for you," a boy ran in from the door to tell her.
Isabella looked at the commotion outside and walked out.
"Isabella! You're so shameless. The calligraphy competition spot clearly belongs to our Sofia. How dare you take it?"
"If you don't give up the spot voluntarily and return it to Sofia, I'm not done with you!"
"..."
Isabella understood what was happening through all the noise.
Because Cillian had Kellan submit her name, she had taken one of the seven spots, causing Sofia, who should have been selected naturally, to lose her chance to compete.
So this group was here to settle the score with her.
Violet rolled up her sleeves. Facing this group of troublemakers from the international class, she wasn't scared at all.
"Are you sick? Can't get a spot because you're not good enough - whose fault is that? Our Isabella earned her spot fair and square. What's it to you? Are you just jealous of our Isabella?"
"Fair and square?" Sidney sneered. "She's never even taken a calligraphy class! What ability does she have?"
Then Sidney glared at Isabella angrily. "Did you pull some strings? Did you buy this spot with money?"
Isabella looked at this group strangely. "It's just a competition spot. Why would I need to buy it?"
She didn't understand.
Sidney was furious. "If you didn't buy it, how did you get it?"
"I write well," Isabella said.
"No matter how well you write, can you be better than Sofia?" Zhang Chi didn't believe it. "Bianca said you never studied calligraphy!"
Bianca was in the crowd too.
Isabella glanced at her when she heard this.
Bianca immediately pressed her lips together and lowered her head. For some reason, meeting Isabella's cold, sharp gaze made her feel a bit guilty.
But was she wrong?
With Isabella's previous circumstances, how could she possibly have been exposed to something as refined as calligraphy?
Isabella looked away and said to Sidney, "Sofia not getting a spot is her own problem. If she had any backbone, she could have pushed her average score up one more place and it would have been secure. If she's useless, whose fault is that?"
Getting the advantage and still being smug - Sidney was really angry. "You bought your spot with money, how dare you talk about Sofia? Besides, what good is your bought spot? You can't buy first or second place in the calligraphy competition!"
The international class students all agreed. "Exactly."
No one approved of Isabella's behavior, and they all pointed fingers at her.
Isabella said coldly, "I'll say it again - I didn't buy the spot with money."
"If you didn't buy it with money, how else did you get it? Isabella, stop making excuses!"
"What's all this noise about?"
A middle-aged male voice came through.
Sofia turned around and saw it was the Dean of Students, Jeremy. She immediately said with red eyes, "Mr. Wright, make Isabella give the spot back to me!"
Jeremy frowned and asked what happened. His stern gaze swept over Isabella. "The calligraphy competition is for the international class. Why are you getting involved? And taking someone else's spot?"
Hannah had also heard the news and rushed over. Hearing this, she immediately said, "Mr. Wright, the calligraphy competition is for the international class, yes, but the participant list was decided by Mr. Hawthorne. I think we should have Mr. Hawthorne come out and explain this clearly. Those of us who aren't involved shouldn't judge too much."
Jeremy's face immediately turned ugly. "I'm the Dean of Students. I don't have the right to judge?"
"That's not what I mean. Mr. Hawthorne is an expert in calligraphy. Since Isabella is on the list he gave, he must have his reasons. It's really not appropriate for you to accuse Isabella right away."
Jeremy stared at Hannah and stroked his chin. "I'm just curious, Ms. Nguyen, are you deliberately opposing me? I've noticed that every time I say something about your class's Isabella, you have to come out and argue with me!"
Hannah: "I'm just being fair."
"Nonsense!" Jeremy said coldly. "I think you're just protecting Isabella! She's in a regular class - she should focus on the SAT! Not stealing other people's calligraphy competition spots and causing all this trouble!"
Then he looked at Isabella meaningfully. "What? Got first place a few times and now you're cocky? Not working hard at your studies anymore? Always causing me problems!"
"Mr. Wright!" Hannah couldn't take it anymore. "You shouldn't say these things. Isabella has always been serious about her studies. She's not arrogant. With her as an example in Class 11, everyone is really motivated to prepare for the SAT!"
