Chapter 137 I Am Naturally on the Side of Justice
Maddox keenly noticed Isabella's face change and smiled meaningfully, "What? You really think the Anderson Family has no one left? When you barged in here, you should have thought about the consequences."
Isabella bit her lip, "It's not just the Anderson Family's lives that are precious. Ordinary people's lives matter too. You randomly kidnap people for your granddaughter's kidney transplant—how is that different from being a thug?"
"I'm taking her with me today no matter what!"
"Good! Very good!" Maddox laughed in anger.
At death's door, and still so stubborn.
"Do you think you're so great? You're just a small Obsidian Circle captain, and you dare act so arrogant in front of me?"
Maddox spoke, "William, do it."
As soon as the words left his mouth, Maddox felt himself being kicked.
He fell to the ground unprepared, looked up in disbelief, and saw that the person who kicked him was actually William. His face instantly turned ugly.
"William! What are you doing?"
William glanced at him coldly, "Maddox, I understand you're desperate to save your granddaughter, but I never thought you could do something that treats human lives like nothing."
Maddox looked at William's sanctimonious appearance and laughed in anger.
"William, are you criticizing me now?"
"Hard to believe—since when did you become so righteous?"
When it came to seizing power and scheming for money, had William done any fewer shady things than him?
William secretly glanced at Isabella, coughed twice, "Maddox, I'm not you. I've always had principles. I never do things against my conscience."
"Haha!" Maddox laughed out loud, "You have principles? William, are you joking with me? What about all those people you ruined financially? You act so righteous now, but aren't you just someone who only cares about profit?"
William pressed his lips together, looking serious, "Maddox, you can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want. What do you mean ruined financially? What do you mean only caring about profit? I don't understand what you're saying."
Maddox couldn't take it anymore and pointed at him, "William, did you forget what you said at the door? You said you'd cooperate with me! Are you backing out now?"
Isabella blinked and looked at William in confusion, "Cooperation?"
"What cooperation?" William looked at Maddox in confusion, "Maddox, what are you talking about? When did I ever say I'd cooperate with you?"
Maddox was furious, "You said it yourself. You promised to help me deal with these people, and in exchange, I'd give you that shipment..."
"Enough." William coldly interrupted him, "Stop slandering me. How could I have such low principles? You're so vicious—how could I possibly cooperate with someone like you?"
"I came here today only to discuss business with you."
Maddox: "..."
William turned his face away, not looking at him, "Maddox, I advise you to have some principles. It's better not to do things that harm others and yourself."
"I would have let it go if I hadn't seen it, but since I've seen it today, I advise you not to target this girl anymore."
"You...!"
Maddox's hand pointing at William was trembling slightly, and his chest was hurting in waves.
From anger.
"William, which side are you on?"
William answered without hesitation, "I'm naturally on the side of justice."
Maddox: "..."
"William, are you possessed?! You must be possessed!"
Maddox's shoulders shook violently with anger. He glared at William hatefully, "I should never have trusted you!"
"Grandpa!"
Just then, Andrew ran out.
When he saw William, he froze for a moment, then immediately ran to Maddox's side and bent down to whisper something in his ear.
Hearing this, Maddox's face changed dramatically. He could no longer contain himself, his facial muscles twitching, his expression twisted as he looked at Isabella, "You dared to break my granddaughter's leg!"
William's eyes also changed slightly, almost imperceptibly.
Isabella met Maddox's gaze, her eyes showing no fear, only determination and defiance.
"Just giving you a taste of your own medicine."
Maddox's face became even more twisted.
Aurora's injury couldn't wait. Isabella stopped wasting time and helped her leave.
William: "I'll see you out."
"William, have you thought this through?" Maddox stared at William intently, "If you let these people go today, from now on, you and the Anderson Family will be enemies!"
Maddox rubbed his green ring, his eyes gleaming, "I may be old, but I'm definitely not soft-hearted!"
William's thin lips curved into a cold smile, "We'll see."
Maddox's face looked terrible. He clutched his chest and fainted from anger.
——
Early morning.
Hospital.
Isabella finally waited for Aurora's surgery to finish and breathed a sigh of relief.
The surgery was arranged by William, with the best orthopedic doctor in Emerald City.
"You're sleeping here tonight?"
William watched Isabella arrange the empty bed nearby and frowned.
"Yes." Isabella nodded, "Aurora needs someone to take care of her. I'll make do at the hospital for one night."
"I'll arrange a place for you to rest. I'll have someone watch your friend." William suggested.
Isabella shook her head, "I'd better take care of her myself. If she wakes up and doesn't see me, she'll probably worry."
Aurora didn't know William's people, and if something came up, she probably wouldn't feel comfortable saying anything.
After thinking it over, Isabella felt it was better to watch over her herself. She had originally planned to notify Aurora's parents, but Aurora didn't want to, didn't want to worry her mom and dad, and planned to keep it from them for now.
William naturally wouldn't force her, but he felt a bit jealous inside.
Isabella was pretty good to her friends.
Better than she was to him.
Isabella was tired and lay down directly on the small bed.
Noticing William was still sitting in the chair, she couldn't help but ask: "It's so late, aren't you leaving?"
"No."
William said calmly: "You're here, where else would I go?"
Isabella looked at him while lying down, "But..."
William waited for a long time for her to continue, but when he leaned in to look, Isabella had already fallen asleep.
William: "..."
Isabella's profile was facing his direction, and she made small snoring sounds when she slept.
This was William's first time hearing a girl snore, and he couldn't help but walk to the small bed and stare at her.
Isabella's hands and legs were curled up, a small bundle, like a newborn kitten, soft and cuddly.
Isabella's pink little mouth was slightly open, and those small snoring sounds were coming from inside.
William got up and brought over a blanket, gently covering her with it.
He reached out and pinched her cheek, his tone helpless, "You're someone who needs taking care of yourself, yet you always want to take care of others."
