Chapter 78
“How things have changed,” Scarlet said without turning back.
“What are your plans after the burial?” he asked her, as he was curious and worried that there might be an argument when asked what she wanted to do.
This time around, Scarlet turned around and stared at his eyes before shaking her head. “We will talk about it later on. Brother, do you think the employees we trust the work with will be able to do a good job? Our company's value and stocks won’t decrease after six months?” she asked.
“Naah. You may not know these. Let me give you an example. You have seen my assistant and your brother’s assistants?” he asked her, and Scarlet nodded her head, though her eyes were full of confusion as she wondered where all this was leading to.
“At the age of eighteen, one is a servant to work for her. These people are trained in our family school. You know it's like a military school. They excel in various fields, including martial arts, cooking, and business management, among others. After turning eighteen, the elders chose the servants according to what they wanted to pursue. However, when you start a business when you are younger, you are given an exclusive someone to work with you, then the rest will be added on your birthday. That is why we trust them so much. They are all orphans who our family gave a life, and they are grateful for that. Also, cause of the training they went through and working with us, their skills are not any less than ours. Do you understand why we have no issue with that?” Arthur asked, and Scarlet nodded, though she was stunned by what she had heard.
However, she recalled that one day, her mother told her not to tire herself knowing so many things, as they will be taken care of in the future. But she had died, she and her aunt did everything on their own, they learnt a lot, even what her mother had refused her to learn. Though her aunt pampered her so much, she had always helped out.
When she came back without her aunt, who was there to protect her, who was there to prevent her from being forced to do something? No one. Now, hearing it from her eldest cousin, though she was stunned, she was only curious about what they were taught and the people who knew how to manage the businesses.
“Sorry, but I overheard that you own a club and a real estate? Also, Sophia is opening her own brand? I believe that grandpa and the others will assign people for you,” Arthur said, and Scarlet opened her mouth wanting to speak, but the latter glanced at her, then added.
“Don’t be quick to refuse. Yes, you have your own team, but they should be kept straight. Let the people the elders will choose for you work together with the people you selected. Let them help in those six months, if they don’t please you, you can return them and choose a few on your own,” Arthur told her, making Scarlet sigh as she couldn’t even say a word or reject the proposal after the latter didn’t even give her a way out.
“Okay,” she said, making Arthur sigh in relief.
That was the only way the elders would let her come back to Country A if that was her plan. If she didn’t agree to the elder's request, he was afraid that she would be locked up in the mansion without even going to school. They would even homeschool her. The elders in the family were tough and didn’t like to be opposed. Even if at the moment they felt guilty, who knew how everything would be after six months?
“Let’s go. Your friends have already boarded the cars. Don’t worry, we will wait for your employees,” he told her when he saw her frowning, thinking it was because of that.
“Thank you,” she said as she walked towards the car.
When she got in, Sophia turned to her. The frown was still on Scarlet’s face, making Sophia chuckle.
“What are you thinking about?” she asked the latter.
“Brother Arthur told me…” she told her aunt what she had been told, and Sophia fell silent.
“This changes everything. I am afraid that their loyalties won’t be with us but with the family. I don’t want to be tied by the family rules or expectations,” Scarlet said, and Sophia shook her head.
“They won’t,” Sophia said, causing Scarlet to stare at her, feeling that her aunt knew something. “I understand you are saying these cause you didn’t see the people who your sister had been given, but actually, they are all managing her companies. Even her lawyers came from the family, which is why they are trustworthy. Their loyalty lies with the family descendants. When they are chosen to work for you, they know where their loyalty should lie.”
“They won’t betray you, and neither will they tell the elders. If they did, why did some of the trusted servants from under your brothers and mother know of her death and never say anything?” Sophia asked her, making Scarlet fall into deep thoughts.
“You should agree to the elders when they give them to you. I know you have big ambitions, and with them at your side, maybe everything will go well. You can just tell them what companies you want to start, where you want them to be in six months. We have already opened a real estate, next, you will open an entertainment company. I know that’s your plan after hearing Eveline and Samantha. From the people given, train your own managers. No, there are a few who have been trained to be managers in the entertainment industry; pick them, let them manage the people you choose. Choose the leader who can manage the company well and let him or her lead. No need to worry too much. This way, you can watch everything from the side. After the six months, you can correct what you want,” Sophia added.
“I think what you should do next is plan. Write the people you are targeting, send people to them, and so all. Guide them through before leaving everything to them. I don’t believe that the elders will find trouble with you for that. Even if we go into mourning, the executives will be reporting everything to the leader, getting their agreement, and so all. Do you get it?” Sophia said, as she had discussed with both Shane and Martin the previous night, so she understood very well what was happening to Scarlet.
Scarlet was stunned when she heard her aunt’s words. She didn’t need a lot of explanations as she understood what the latter was telling her. With these, she sighed in relief, not worried anymore.
She started making plans for everything she needed done in six months and where her companies should be in that time. She had previously made a plan for two months; it was time for her to advance a little bit. She nodded her head at her aunt before closing her eyes to sleep.
“Dad, can we go to America?” Brianna asked her parents, who were seated in the living room watching the news.
“America? To do what?” her brother asked, making Brianna glance at him cause she didn’t appreciate his intervention.
“Scarlet, Shanaya Singh's daughter, is the one whom I told you about the day before yesterday. She is our future customer and maybe the esteemed customer. After all, in city N, no one has a ranch or horses, and she wants to start that business. Also, she is my new friend. Can’t I go to be there for a friend?” she asked, stunning her parents as they found it unbelievable.
“Is what you are saying true?” her father asked, feeling a little bit excited.
“Yes, didn’t you see the Coles in the burial too? They are neighbors, and Scarlet is Angela’s best friend. Dad, if you don’t believe me, I can call her right away; we even exchanged contacts,” Brianna said as she reached out for her phone.
“No, don’t do that. The young miss is tired at the moment. We believe you. If we are going, then we have to set off as soon as possible and book the hotels immediately, cause I am afraid that if we delay even a little bit, we won’t have somewhere to sleep or we will miss the next flight to America,” her father said after exchanging a look with his wife, making Brianna smile widely.
“I will tell Angela about it then,” she said as she picked up her phone and left the living room excitedly. This time, her parents didn’t tell her not to call. It was already a big deal that they would be working with a Singh.
Inside the Jenkins mansion, they all watched the news as bodyguards that were sent by Arthur and Shane stood everywhere. This made it difficult for them to even talk to each other. The more they listened and watched the news, the more they trembled in fear. Mr and Mrs Jenkins were throwing glances at each other while sweat filled their foreheads. Ann was jealous when she watched how rich the Singhs were and how Scarlet was pampered. Her attention was on all that and didn’t see that anything was wrong with her parents. However, it was different for John, who was staring at them deeply, wondering whether there was something they were hiding from them.
“When will you guys be leaving?” he asked the nearest bodyguard coldly.
