Chapter 75
The designers who had been working stopped and rushed to the manor. They had heard the news and knew they needed to help the servants organize everything before the family arrived.
Mr Gibson found it hard to believe that his new boss had such a hidden background. He sent his wife to go and help, though there wasn’t much that could be done.
The Coles, Davis, and Nelsons had already sent chefs to cook and were also present.
When Jalen received the news, he was startled and with anger, he led his team to finish up the Orcos who were in hiding before leaving his own people to do the cleaning. He, together with his trusted aide and a few of the men, got into the private plane. These were the people who had been given to him by his mother.
In two hours, City N airports started receiving the planes. The citizens never saw such many planes flying. They understood the power of money more than they had previously thought. They thought that none of the wealthy families in the country could compare to that wealth.
“Tell grandpa and the others they should land on the premises. There is an airstrip within, but some kilometres away. They will be picked there,” Scarlet said after talking to Mrs Cole, who had just been told about it by her brother, who had toured the whole property.
This has now changed everything. Some of the planes and jets had just flown up again in that direction. This stirred the city, and the reporters who had been eagerly waiting for the Singhs outside the airports were disappointed.
It was a restless night for all, even for the citizens who didn’t know Shanaya.
Martin, together with Austin, went to the place that Sophia had told them they had buried Shanaya. They wanted to make sure that everything was alright, cause if anything happened, no one could prevent the bloodshed that would happen.
That night, the Singhs started arriving one by one. When Scarlet saw her grandparents, tears started flowing down. Those faces, she had never seen them in her past life. She had thought that they didn’t care about her. They never met, just talked to each other on the phone, but they were kind of close.
“Grandpa, grandma,” she called them softly, making Old Mrs Singh's tears turn red as she thought of the struggles her grandchild had gone through. Though Shanaya had a lot of adopted sons, Scarlet was her daughter’s only blood.
She held Scarlet, who cried all the grievances she had suffered. When her mother had died, she was in sorrow, just as the reality had started hitting her, her father brought the mistress and those kids home. How could she have the time to take out everything?
Now with her family around, she felt safe and at the same time in pain.
The next morning. The citizens of City N were on the streets, some holding the chrysanthemum flowers, others roses. However, they weren’t mourning as the Singhs and the workers; they were there to watch the fun.
The top three families had been provided with the best cars to drive them to the grave. The authorities were leading the convoy to avoid anything happening.
Arthur had sent some men to the Jenkins to make sure that none of them left the house. He understood how shameless that family could be and might show up in the name of being Shanaya’s ex-husband. He didn’t want them anywhere close, afraid that Jalen might do sth when he saw them.
When they arrived at the grave, there were cries everywhere, and the reporters were taking pictures endlessly.
“We pay respect to grandaunt,” five little kids knelt in front of the grave and gave three bows.
“We pay respect to Aunt,” Scarlet’s cousins, led by Arthur, said. They weren’t wearing any masks, and some of them were well-known figures, leaving those watching the live stream stunned.
“We pay respect to the young miss,” the elders in the family said as guilt ate them up.
“Hope you forgive us,” the oldest said as he bowed his head, hitting the ground as he felt like a sinner. He had caused the death, that was what he felt.
“We pay respect to our sister,” her brothers, together with their wives and Sophia, walked over after the elders stepped aside.
Scarlet knew her grandparents should be the last, so she stepped in front. However, she was stunned when she saw her uncles stepping forward too. She looked at them in confusion, but when she was still doing that. Shane knelt.
“Your unfial oldest son is here, mother. I am sorry, please forgive me,” Shane said as he bowed down.
“Your second son pays respect to mother,” Martin said as he knelt.
“Your third son pays respect to mother,” Jalen said following his brother’s action.
“Your fourth son, Austin, pays his respect,” Austin said as he took off his mask, and the atmosphere in the live stream froze. Who didn’t know him? The international racer?
“The fifth son pays respect, mother,” Santino said as he removed his mask. His eyes were red. The audience was stunned. They had never heard anything about Santino’s background other than the rumor that the company he was working under was in his name, which was opened by his family for him. However, knowing he was part of the Singh's family and Shanaya’s son, this was the biggest shock.
Scarlet got her composure and knelt. Though she had questions about what was going on, she knew better than to ask questions in front of everyone. At this time, she understood why her mother had left Martin as her guardian. It was because he was her brother.
“Mother,” Scarlet said as she bowed down. She kept hitting her head till everyone was terrified. Her head was covered in blood, and her eyes were red due to crying. No one understood why she was doing that.
However, she understood what she did in her past life. She believed her stepsister and started hating her mother. Started hating that she never left anything for her cause; she had been told that. When she was signing the properties, she had been given a letter that had been ‘written’ by her mother asking her to hand the properties to her father. At that time, she never had any issues, but when she was being mistreated and hearing the awful things about her mother, she started slandering and hating her. Not even once had she ever visited her.
This had been eating her up. That was why she wanted her mother to be given a proper burial, the respect she deserved, the recognition. She had wanted to get evidence on how she died before she came to see her, but who knew that everything would change? She was now in front of her, but with no evidence.
“I am sorry,” she shouted, though her voice was coarse cause of crying before fainting.
Seeing that, Shane and the others panicked. Shane lifted her while the medics who were present ran over. They had guessed that someone would faint. Yes, some had fainted after giving their respect, but no one expected Scarlet, who had been consoling them the previous night, to faint. They had thought she was strong.
With their granddaughter fainting, Old Mrs Singh started crying. All the strength she had gotten disappeared. She staggered in front of the grave and fell. She lay on the tomb as she cried.
“Why couldn’t you have come home when you realized something was wrong?” she scolded as if the person were present.
“Grandma,” Santino called her as he tried lifting her. He was close to the old woman; he was her favorite grandson, and that was why she followed his news.
“Santy, she is gone,” the old woman said as she held her grandson’s hands with her trembling hands.
Santy, who had been trying his best not to cry, sniffed and started wiping her tears.
“Grandma, Mom is in a good place. She is now at peace and won’t keep hiding,” Santino said.
“But she left us. How could she?” the woman asked stubbornly, making her husband walk towards them.
“Look how strong Santino is. You should be the one comforting him, not the other way round,” he said, making the woman look at Santino’s eyes, and when she saw how red his eyes were, she felt hurt.
She lifted her hands, wanting to touch his face, causing Santino to lower his head so that she could reach him.
“Shanaya, dear. Father is here to bring you home,” he said as he stubbornly refused to shed tears.
“Start digging her out,” he told the man beside him, who nodded his head.
He gave a bow to the grave before Jalen’s men walked forward.
However, just as they were about to start, all the subordinates under Scarlet’s brother walked forward, gave a bow. They had been with the guys since they were small. They had been chosen by Shanaya to help her boys. She had also saved them.
“We will do the digging,” they said stubbornly, causing Jalen’s men to look at Jalen’s trusted aide, who nodded his head as he understood his colleague. They had all grown up together.
“Thank you, everyone, for coming. We will give her a proper burial in three days at the Singh's ancestral land. Also, this goes to all our companies around the world. All companies under the Singhs' cooperation, under the Singhs' children, will be closed for six months. No work will be going on. We will be conducting prayers and mourning during that period. You will still receive your salary, no need to panic,” Arthur said as he stood in front of the reporters.
“Mr Singhs, aren’t you worried that your enemies will take this time to swallow your businesses and properties?” a reporter asked as Arthur’s words had shocked everyone. They had all heard of the two-month mourning period the Singhs went but never expected it to be excessive this time. Also, they never shut their businesses, but it was different this time.
