Chapter 124
“The assistant can go alone over there. He had been with Martin for more than a decade and was personally trained by his mother, together with my assistant,” Shane said when he saw his grandfather frowning.
“No, I am not thinking of that. Actually, your godmother can sign the termination as your mother was the one who had signed with them. She can sign off on the termination, then the assistant can go to the Wilson company and sign a contract with them. As for the engagement, we can do that after the mourning period. We can’t risk giving people something to discuss,” Old Mr. Singh said.
Shane nodded and hung up the call, making his godmother stomp her feet in frustration.
“What do you think of Mr. William, what he said that as he is Scarlet’s dad, he is also your dad. Do you want to acknowledge him?” Old Mr. Singh asked. His eyes stared at Shane, trying to guess what the man was thinking of.
However, there wasn’t any expression on Shane’s face other than disdain when he heard Mr. William’s name being mentioned.
“Gramps, Scarlet has not yet acknowledged the man, and you want us to? That’s not happening,” Shane said, causing the Old man’s eyes flash relief, but his lips were curled downwards.
Sophia rolled her eyes when she saw her father’s actions.
“I know that you guys don’t. But what will happen after we leave you? Will the elders let you leave in peace? They might even claim that everything you have belongs to the family,” Old Mr. Singh said in a serious tone.
On one hand, he wanted Shane and the others to acknowledge Mr. William as their father, but at the same time, he was afraid that after they did, they won’t be close to him anymore. Yes, he knew that he was being selfish, but he had brought up those boys, so the affection he felt was much more than that of the others.
“Then what do you propose gramps?” Shane asked as he stared at the Old man. Though his tone was serious and respectful, he had a mocking smile on his face. How could he not know his grandfather’s thoughts?
“You take Mr. William as your father. Your companies won’t have anything to do with the Singhs,” he said, startling both Sophia and Shane.
“What!” Sophia shouted as she couldn’t believe it. “Dad, do you know what will happen if this happens?”
“I know. However, we can do it this time that we are in mourning. At least the public thinks that our company’s and family position will decrease, so after we get out and see that we have really been surpassed, they won’t think too much,” Old Mr. Singh said, causing Shane shake his head.
He felt pity for the family, though. With the plans Scarlet had made, the Singhs would have topped, but with the step their grandfather wants to take, they might really be surpassed or remain in that position.
“After the oil mine. Okay, let me phrase it this way: if it were the fifth richest family in the country that got to an oil mine, what position would they raise?” Sophia asked.
“By two levels,” Old Mr. Singh answered in a serious tone.
“I almost forgot the newly acquired salt mines,” Sophia said, startling Old Mr. Singh. His eyes immediately lit up as he understood what Sophia was trying to say.
“Then you talk to Scarlet, convince her. After that, we will start the procedure of separating the companies. Your godmother can help with that,” Old Mr. Singh said as he directed the last sentence to Shane, who nodded in agreement.
Even if he didn’t get along with the woman, he couldn’t deny that she was one of the people whom they trusted deeply and knew the company so well.
“Shane, even after you take that man as your father. Don’t join your company in that family. Let them stand alone,” Sophia started, and Shane stared at her before sighing.
“Aunt, it isn’t that easy. I am afraid that if we do that, the elders might think that we had just plotted to get out of the family, not helping them get to the top. There is also the Williams, what will the elders there think if we do that?” Shane asked.
However, deep down, he wished that he could do that. But how would they stand firm with their own family? Won’t it be giving the other wealthy families and the public something to say about the family? Some might even claim that Shanaya’s kids were thrown out after she was buried cause the family realized that they couldn’t offer anything anymore.
“Dad, if Scarlet’s acknowledge that family. Just let the families know. No one else should cause a scene at the moment; the public knows Mr. Jenkins as the father. If we do this, they might start siding with the man. I think we can wait till Scarlet cleans off that man,” Sophia said what she thought.
“We can actually do that. We take that time to develop the family so that by the time we are leaving, the elders won’t have anything negative to say about us,” Shane said, supporting Sophia. He really didn’t care about the other people’s attitude, but what about his younger brothers and sister?
“Also, you should talk to your brothers and the elders about this. Don’t just make a decision, prompting them into thinking that it was Scarlet’s and her brother’s ideas. In the future, I won’t be with Scarlet and will be in another country, so I want her to be safe. No one is looking down on her or hating her cause of her leaving or something to do with the family,” Sophia told her father as she was really worried about that girl.
“Gramps, since you are telling us to acknowledge that man’s family, what about his adopted daughter? Have you thought of whether Scarlet will be at peace with her? Also, that girl won’t, she started scheming against my sister cause she thinks that with Scarlet present, she is there to take what belongs to her?” Shane said.
Old Mr. Singh lowered his head in embarrassment as he had forgotten that the man’s parents had adopted a daughter for their son so that he could have kids even if they weren’t his.
“I will talk to her about it. Maybe the girls should first meet before we make a decision,” Old Mr. Singh said, and Shane nodded, thinking it was a good plan.
On the other side, Scarlet and her friends had just gotten into the mall when they saw people surrounding a certain shop.
“Should we go and watch the drama?” Angela asked, glancing at her friends before staring at that shop curiously. Her brown eyes were shining brightly as she had not come across any drama since what happened. Now that she had seen one, how could she not be happy?
Brooke also looked over when she heard Angela’s words. Scarlet and the others glanced at each other, clearly seeing the helplessness in their eyes. However, in their hearts, they scream. Go! Go! As long its just watching a drama, we are in, of course.
They hurriedly walked over. Since it was quite crowded, they walked around till they saw an open space, and there was even a sofa there. They shamelessly sat down, and Brianna told the salesperson who was nearby to serve them with snacks and the latest limited edition.
If they needed to watch without being thrown out, they had to act to the end!
Scarlet soon frowned when she saw what was happening.
“Just because you think that you are from the Williams’ family, you expect us to bow down to you, huh? You are just a shameless, ugly orphan that the William’s pitied and took you in,” one of the ladies showed at the lady in front of her.
Miss William just stared at the latter calmly as if she wasn’t the one who was being abused. She glanced at her friend, who was just frowning but wasn’t helping at all, and sneered. She knew that even to her friend, she was just an orphan, but cause she had money, she couldn’t help but pretend to like her.
She really wanted to turn and ask her. What is the meaning of a friend?
“Well, I understand that you are jealous that I was taken in instead of you. After all, I have more allowance than you. Cause of it, you don’t understand why they should pamper an homeless girl, right?” she asked the lady who had been shouting.
“No need to shout. I know. However, things changed; I am not a homeless girl anymore, but the daughter of the richest man. I can buy anything I want. Pack everything here and send them home,” she said, then turned to the salesperson behind her and instructed the last sentence.
“Hei, that’s not fair. We are also buying!” Brooke shouted angrily.
They had walked in, interested in the drama, but when they saw the products sold, they fell in love with them and couldn’t wait to buy them. Who knew that things would escalate to this point?
Everyone turned to the five girls who were eating snacks while looking at the products that had been brought out. They were startled as they wondered when the group had shown up.
