Chapter 36 Have You Taken a Liking to Me?
Rosalind has always backed John's family, simply because John has a son, while my family only has me, a daughter.
Plus, Willow is good with words. She's been putting on an act all these years, which really pleases Rosalind.
My family can't possibly have a son anymore, because Maria said long ago that I'm the only girl in the family and they won't have more children.
But Willow has always been fake and pretentious.
I just don't believe that after all these years, she hasn't slipped up even once in front of Rosalind.
And then there's Natasha. I just need to wait a few more days. When I play the footage of her having sex with Knox at the wedding, she'll bring shame to the Lockwood family. Let's see how Rosalind protects her then.
Next, only Willow will be left. I just need Rosalind to be disappointed in Willow and Natasha and stop protecting them.
Thinking of this, I pulled out my phone.
"Quincy, I need you to do me a favor."
Quincy's cheerful voice came through the phone. "Just say what you need."
"Help me find someone to watch Willow."
"You mean Natasha's mother, Willow?"
I nodded. "Yes, that's her. Please find someone to keep a close eye on her, and let me know if anything comes up."
As soon as I said this, Quincy, on the other end, got excited.
"Great, Helena! You're really something, quietly planning something big. Did Willow target you again?"
This is why Quincy can be my friend - she understands me so well. I immediately told her everything that happened today.
After hearing it, Quincy exploded.
"Natasha being shameless is one thing, but now even Willow is this shameless. They really are mother and daughter - a pair of shameless bitches!"
After cursing, Quincy said directly, "Don't worry, leave this to me. I'll definitely dig up some dirt on Willow."
"Okay, be careful and don't let anyone find out."
"Trust me with this. Just wait for good news."
I know Quincy has plenty of capable people, so I feel confident leaving this to her.
Henry didn't come back until the next morning. When he saw me, he smiled.
"It doesn't matter."
"Really?"
I'd seen Rosalind's behavior yesterday clear as day, and I seriously doubted she'd let Henry off the hook that easily.
"So what does Grandmother think about all this?"
Henry let out a heavy sigh, and I knew this whole mess wasn't going to be resolved so simply.
My stomach dropped, and I quickly asked, "Did Grandmother give you grief again?"
Henry shook his head: "No, but we probably won't get those items back.
However, I've already told finance to cut off your uncle's allowance."
Hearing this, I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Thank goodness - Henry had finally stopped being such a pushover.
I said, "That's fine by me. Actually, I'm quite pleased about it."
"What on earth are you pleased about, child?"
I shook my head. "No, Dad, I'm not upset."
Henry patted my head. "I've already had my secretary transfer another hundred million dollars to your account. Use this money for now, and if it's not enough, just ask me for more."
Henry said this while shaking his head and sighing.
I know Henry is in a difficult position, but some things need to be said.
"What are you thinking about what Grandma said regarding Ivan?"
I poured Henry a glass of water and sat down beside him.
Henry took the water, drank a sip, and shook his head. "I know what your grandmother means, but I built this huge business for you. No one else should even think about it."
"When Ivan comes back, if he wants to work at the company, he can start from the bottom. If he can't handle it, he can just leave."
Hearing Henry's words, I felt relieved, but thinking of Rosalind, my worries returned.
"But Grandma has always wanted Ivan to inherit our family business."
"That's impossible!"
Henry said angrily, slamming his teacup heavily on the table. "You're the daughter I raised with my own hands. Everything I have is yours. No one else has a chance!"
"Your grandmother is old and confused, but I'm not confused. Helena, don't worry, what you're worried about won't happen."
"In this life, I only hope you and your mom will be well."
After I said this, Henry looked at me for a moment, then smiled. "Yes, we will be."
Henry probably never imagined that John's family, whom he always cared for, would be the ones who killed him and Maria.
On the way back to the company, I remembered that in my past life, Ivan didn't return from abroad until a year after I got married, but in this life, he's coming back early.
Could it be that my changes have altered everything?
Ivan is John's son. If he enters the company, who knows what will happen? I must stop him from joining the company.
Thinking of this, my frown deepened. Just as I was doing my routine inspection of the workshop, I suddenly ran into a familiar face.
When this man saw me, he looked panicked. I looked closer and realized it was Willow's nephew Caleb.
"What are you doing here?"
Seeing him made me suspicious. It was work hours - why would Caleb be in the workshop?
The moment Caleb saw me, he looked alarmed, but he quickly composed himself.
He gave me a grin. "Oh, Ms. Lockwood, it's nothing. Just taking a look around the workshop."
"Taking a look? What's there to look at here?"
I frowned and looked around. Seeing no one nearby, I asked suspiciously, "Instead of working properly at the company, what are you really doing in the workshop?"
Seeing me press the issue, Caleb insisted, "I'm just looking around, not doing anything. Ms. Lockwood, you're not going to control even this little thing, are you?"
Then his eyes roamed over my body without restraint, and he grinned. "Could it be that Ms. Lockwood has taken a liking to me?"
I was instantly furious. "What nonsense are you talking about! Who's taken a liking to you!"
"If you haven't taken a liking to me, why did you put on that show at your house last time? Wasn't it to attract my attention?"
Then he rubbed the corner of his mouth with his thumb. "And now, you're stopping me from leaving. If this isn't of interest to me, what is it?"
He tried to move closer. "Ms. Lockwood, I heard you have a fiancé, but I don't mind."
"Stop right there! If you dare take one more step forward, believe me, I'll have someone break your legs!"
Seeing my stern tone, Caleb finally stopped obediently.
"I was just talking. Why are you getting angry, Ms. Lockwood? Don't forget, my aunt is your uncle's wife. That makes us relatives. Is this how you treat relatives?"
Seeing him being slippery, I frowned directly. "Cut the crap and get lost!"
"Okay, okay, I'll go. I'll go, alright!"
Caleb left cursing under his breath.
After he left, I went straight to the surveillance room to check the footage. But after watching for a long time, I only saw him wandering around the workshop alone, with no one contacting him.
I remembered how in my past life, Caleb constantly used the company's name for his own profit, and I thought of the order crisis the company faced in my past life. Instantly, I connected these two things.
A bad feeling rose in my heart, and I immediately called York.
