Chapter 15 Chapter 15
Amelia
I pushed open Adele’s door and stepped into her living room, only to be immediately confronted with a sight that made my stomach drop. Adele was straddling a man’s lap, her hands tangled in his hair pulling it so hard, and her face twisted in pleasure. She was moaning loudly, completely lost in the moment.
“Fuck me harder please.”
The man beneath her was groaning too, his hands gripping her hips tightly. I wasn’t sure if his sounds were from pain of the way she was pulling his hair, from pleasure, or a mix of both.
They didn’t even notice I was there. My presence seemed to mean nothing to them.
I took a hesitant step forward, I raised my hand and tapped gently on Adele’s shoulder.
The reaction was instantaneous. “Holy fuck!” she screamed, jerking upright and tumbling off the man’s lap onto the floor. My initial urge to laugh nearly got the better of me, but the tension in my chest kept me from fully enjoying the moment.
The man scrambled to cover himself, quickly grabbing a pillow to hide what he could, his eyes wide with embarrassment. Adele lay on the floor for a moment, blinking rapidly as if trying to process what had just happened. The room felt heavy and awkward, every second stretching longer than it should.
I cleared my throat, trying to regain control of the situation. “Uh… hi,” I muttered, my voice sounding small even to my own ears. Adele finally sat up, her face flushed, The man stayed frozen, the pillow still clutched to his chest, unsure where to look.
“What the actual fuck, Amelia?” Adele exclaimed, brushing herself off the floor. I could see the mix of shock and anger in her eyes. The guy she had been with quickly scrambled to gather his scattered clothes from the floor.
I hadn’t realized how long I had been staring at his ass and dangling balls until Adele suddenly shoved her hands in front of my face. “Eyes up here, freak!” she snapped, and I quickly looked away.
The guy straightened up, shaking his head in disbelief. “Lose my number, you crazy freak,” he said, glaring at me. “I should have known you were unstable from the way you were pulling my hair. And you have got a crazy friend too.” He gave one last look at the both of us before storming out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
Adele turned to me, her face a mix of frustration and disbelief. “Your stupid action just cost me a good man,” she said, her tone exasperated but also a little funny.
I couldn’t help but smirk, shaking my head. “No, no, you mean a good dick,” I corrected her, trying not to laugh. “Literally, he would have ghosted you anyway after this. The poor guy was in pain the whole time, I just helped him.”
Adele glared at me for a moment but couldn’t suppress a small laugh.
I sat down on the couch, trying to calm myself after the chaos. Adele, still flustered, grabbed her scattered clothes from the floor and quickly slipped them on. She smoothed her hair and narrowed her eyes at me.
“I think I need to collect my key back from you,” she said, finally taking a seat across from me.
“And whatever reason you showed up at my place unannounced better be worth it."
I took a deep breath. “Declan showed up at my office,” I said, keeping my tone neutral, though my chest tightened at the memory.
Adele’s eyes widened, and she leaned forward. “What does that demonic son of a bitch want? Why is he popping up in your space all of a sudden?” Her voice was a mix of anger and disbelief.
I ran a hand over my face, trying to steady myself. “You won’t believe what he did,” I said.
“That day at the supermarket, I don’t even know how he got it, but he took something, maybe Aria’s hair to do a DNA test.”
The moment the words left my mouth, Adele bolted upright from the couch, her expression a mixture of shock and fury. “WHAT?!” she shouted, nearly standing on the couch in her haste.
I winced, realizing just how explosive this news was. Adele’s eyes were blazing, and her hands were clenched into fists.
“He did what? How dare that irritating bastard, after you clearly told him the kids aren’t his? What does he even want?” Adele demanded, her hands flailing as she spoke.
I sighed and tried to keep my tone calm. “Apparently, the DNA test showed that the kids aren’t his, they actually belong to his brother.”
The moment the words left my mouth, Adele burst into laughter, doubling over in disbelief. She laughed so hard she could barely catch her breath. But the laughter died abruptly when she noticed the seriousness in my expression.
Her eyes narrowed. “Wait, did you fuck someone else before Maxwell? Because there is no way on earth that struggling, broke Declan could be related to Maxwell Sinclair,”
she said, shaking her head as if trying to wrap her brain around it.
I shook my head, the memory of that day still vivid. “Exactly what I said when he showed up at my office. I didn’t believe it either until he showed me a family picture. Him, Maxwell, and their parents all together.”
I shook my head. That’s exactly what I had thought when he showed up at my office, until he showed me a family picture, with him, Maxwell, and their parents. The funniest part, I realized, was that I had always wondered who exactly my girls looked like, because they didn’t look exactly like us, even though they had clearly inherited some of our features.
“But looking at the pictures he showed me, my girls looked exactly like Mrs. Sinclair. That’s how Declan concluded they were related,” I explained.
“Are they related? You actually saw the pictures?” Adele asked, leaning forward.
“Yes, I saw them,” I said.
“Are you sure they are not pictures he created with AI? You know how shady that guy can be,” she said, narrowing her eyes.
I shook my head. “No, they are real. I even saw childhood pictures. The girls look exactly like Mrs. Sinclair.”
Tonia, quickly grabbed her phone and searched for Mrs. Sinclair online. She whistled in disbelief. “How on earth is Declan poor if his brother is a trillionaire who can buy anything and has that much influence?”
I thought about it for a moment. That had always confused me too. When we were dating, Declan never mentioned that he came from a wealthy family. He had always portrayed himself as a struggling, poor man.
“What does he want now?” Adele asked softly.
“Is he threatening to tell Maxwell about your return and about the kids?”
“No,” I said, shaking my head. “He hasn’t said what he wants yet. But I’m scared he is going to start blackmailing me for money, probably to fund his so‑called career. I am really confused right now and scared.” My voice cracked. “I don’t want anyone taking my kids away from me. They are my life.”
Adele moved closer and sat beside me. She reached for my hand and squeezed it gently.
“Listen,” she said, smiling in an unsettling way.
“If he threatens you, we will murder him. And it would be completely justified, because he already tried to destroy your life once. If you weren’t given a second chance back then, things would have gone differently, we wouldn’t even be here right now. I know it sounds crazy, but—”
“You are crazy,” I cut in, pulling my hand away.
“And we are not murdering anyone.”
I shook my head firmly. “Do you want to go to jail? I have been there before, and trust me, it wasn’t pleasant at all.”
Adele sighed, rolling her eyes, but she was only trying to protect me in her own unhinged way.
She reached out for me again, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “We will watch all those crime shows so we can learn how to get away with it.”
I stood up and shook my head. “I forgot you give the worst advice ever.” I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. “I should be going. When your brain is calm, you know where to find me.” I started heading toward the door.
“Fine,” Adele called after me, a grin spreading across her face. “How about we hire a private investigator and dig up dirt on him? He must have done a lot of shady things, I’m sure of it. Then we can threaten him with it and get him off your back.”
I stopped mid-step and turned to her, smiling. “Excellent. I will start looking for an investigator right away.”
I ran back to her and hugged her tightly. “Thank you so much, girl. You are the best!”
She pushed me away with a laugh. “You are welcome. But seriously, can you go now? I need my vibrator to finish what you didn’t let Hulk finish earlier. And don’t forget , you owe me a man,” she said, shoving me gently toward the door.
I couldn’t help but laugh as I left her apartment. Once outside, I pulled out my phone and dialed Kelvin. “Hey, I need your help finding aprivate investigator, yes, it’s urgent.”
Author's note: Adele😂😂, leave the guy hair alone😂, but what does Declan want🤔🤔
