Chapter 30 Welcome Home!
After announcing Alpha Gideon’s arrival the maid left.
The two women looked at each other. Their heads were filled with thoughts running amok in their chaotic minds.
“You stay here and wait for me. We can’t rush to see him together, besides only family are allowed to see and talk to him,” Mira told Luna Rosie in a voice filled with authority.
Luna Rosie snapped. “Shut up! I’m his wife. I’m the real Luna Rosie. I should be the one who welcomes him with open arms.”
Mira sighed. “That’s true, but given that I am in your body, I’m the one who should be there to welcome him. If you go there, the royals will be shocked to see you hug Alpha Gideon. Can’t you imagine the surprise look on their faces? Please don’t make things complicated for us. This is not the time to argue,” she said, eager to welcome her husband home.
“Fine, leave now!” Luna Rosie finally relented. Her eyes gleamed. The royals are busy welcoming her husband. They won’t notice her presence if she goes downstairs to take a glimpse of her husband.
Mira quickly left the room.
Luna Rosie followed Mira downstairs to the living room where Alpha Gideon was currently lying comfortably on a bed stretcher surrounded by his worried parents and siblings. Her heart was bleeding upon seeing her husband’s arms covered in bandages. Good thing his face was spared but visible signs of bruising were present. She wept in silence as she watched him from afar. Inside she was disappointed that she couldn't even get close to him to hug him to tell him how much she misses him.
She watched as the royals parted so Mira could reach her husband’s side. The couple embraced each other. She bit her lip, feeling hurt and jealous. Her eyes burned with rage. She should be the one embracing him. Not the impostor Mira!
But there’s nothing she can do about it. She can only watch helplessly as another woman embraces her beloved husband.
Meanwhile…
Everyone in the living room felt emotional as the couple locked themselves in a tight embrace.
Mira rubbed her husband’s arms tenderly, trying to ease his pain. “Welcome back husband, I’m glad to see you again. You have no idea how scared I am after learning that you were injured,” she said in a shaky voice, her tears falling from her eyes.
“Wife, the war was brutal. Swift death is imminent on the battlefield. But I survived because I wanted to see you again. Our love protected me from death. I’m excited to go home into your arms and caress your tummy. And now it’s finally happening. I’m back in your arms, safe and sound. We are reunited again. Such a wonderful feeling. I love you so much,” Alpha Gideon said in a tone filled with sincere affection.
Tears flooded Mira’s eyes, moved by his heartfelt devotion to her. “I love you more than words, my husband. Now that you are back, we shall never be separated again,” she said wistfully.
“How’s our baby in your tummy?” he asked, looking at her baby bump but can’t touch it with his arms because it hurts so bad. His wounds are still fresh.
Mira caressed her tummy. “The baby is fine, we are both fine,” she assured him. “Let’s get you to our room so you can rest. The journey must be very tiring for you,” she said, very much concerned about the state of his health. She wants him to recover quickly so she can spend some time with him. Together they will create memorable moments before she reveals the truth to him.
“Pardon my intrusion, Luna Rosie, but Alpha Gideon can’t stay in your room at the moment because he needs to recuperate in a separate room due to his injuries. Rest assured, if his wounds have already healed he can finally return to your room. I hope you understand his situation," the pack doctor said.
Mira nodded her head, feeling disappointed because she really wanted to take care of her husband while he was recuperating. "Ah, okay, no problem. Am I allowed to visit him every day?" she asked.
“Of course, family can visit him,” the pack doctor replied with a smile.
“Alright, bring our son now to the recuperating room. We have prepared a room for him here on the ground floor for easy access,” Alpha King Samuel ordered.
The couple parted with love shining brightly in their eyes.
The pack doctor and his assistant push the bed stretcher in the direction of the recuperating room located near the living room.
Mira and the royals stayed outside the room, waiting for the pack doctor and his assistant to finish relocating Alpha Gideon into his temporary room.
After Alpha Gideon settled comfortably on the bed, his parents entered the room to talk to him. Mira and the other royal members waited outside for their turn to bed him good night.
Mira went to the sofa and sat down because her stomach was getting heavier after standing for so long. Her emotions weighed heavily on her chest. She noticed Luna Rosie standing in the corner, watching things unfold in front of her. She heaved a sigh. The guilt is back, pinching her conscience and making her chest throb painfully.
The truth is she pitied Luna Rosie’s situation. The poor woman should be the one welcoming her husband into her arms, not her. Luna Rosie is right, she is an impostor!
The sooner she can tell Alpha Gideon the truth about the soul swap the better for her and Luna Rosie’s mental and emotional well-being.
Luna Rosie approached her location and whispered, “How’s it going? How is my husband? He won’t be staying in my room while recuperating? But why?” she asked anxiously, annoyed that they hadn't brought her husband to her room upstairs on the second floor.
“Because he needs to recuperate alone, attended to by the pack doctor. His injury will heal faster that way,” Mira explained. “Besides, our bed upstairs is not designed to hold an injured man who needs enough space to move around,” she added.
“OK, I got it. But how can I visit him? They won’t let servants enter the room, right?” Luna Rosie asked anxiously, her tone laced with disappointment.
“That’s the problem. You can’t visit him. You can’t talk to him as well, but let’s try to see if the doctor will allow us to enter the room. There is no harm in trying, but if you are not allowed, don’t force it. Let’s not create a scene that only adds to your husband’s problem,” Mira said, hoping Luna Rosie would cooperate and not let her diva attitude get the better of her.
“Fine,” Luna Rosie murmured. She fell into deep thoughts after analyzing the situation carefully. The only time she can sneak into the room to see her husband is if she comes along with Mira for a visit. The pack doctor will never allow servants to enter the room unless needed. She took a deep breath, annoyed that in moments like this when her husband needed her most she couldn't even stay by his side to comfort him.
Mira watched the royal members leave the room one by one and head back to their rooms on the second floor. When everyone had already finished visiting her husband, it was finally her turn. She stood up. “I’m going inside to bid him goodnight.”
Luna Rosie quickly snapped into attention, falling into step beside her. “I’ll come with you.”
Mira walked straight to the door, but the pack doctor saw them.
“Luna Rosie you may enter the room and please make it short so Alpha Gideon can finally take his rest. He is exhausted from his journey,” the pack doctor said.
Mira nodded her head. “OK.”
But when Luna Rosie was about to enter the room, the pack doctor stopped her. “You are not allowed to enter the room only royal family members are allowed inside, so step back.”
Luna Rosie gritted her teeth in anger. GRRR! He allowed the servant entry to the room while she, the real one, was not given entry. So damn annoying!
Mira looked at her companion and said, “Wait on the sofa.”
Frustrated, Luna Rosie could only nod her head. “Copy Luna,” she obediently said and walked away.
Mira proceeds inside the room. The place was spacious with a clean bathroom inside. She walked to the bed and smiled brightly, meeting her husband's gaze.
“My love, come to me." Alpha Gideon summoned his beloved wife to his side. “I missed seeing your lovely smile,” he said, his tone filled with affection.
“Can I sleep here in the room with you, my love? I want to stay by your side and take care of you,” she said, kissing both his cheeks and holding his hands lovingly, showing him how much she loved him.
Alpha Gideon smiles. “That would be nice but you won't be able to sleep here comfortably because the bed isn't big enough for two people. You are pregnant, you also need comfortable sleep. Don’t worry my love, once my wounds are healed we can finally sleep together in our bed. So for now let’s just bear with the situation. Okay?”
Mira smiled. “OK. I don’t want to put pressure on you, so yeah, let’s follow the doctor's order.”
“Good girl,” Alpha Gideon grins happily, gazing at his wife's beautiful face tenderly. “Kiss me on the lips, my darling wife. I’m craving the taste of your lips, so sweet as honey,” he said passionately.
Mira’s eyes widened, startled by his request. Should she obey his order and kiss him wantonly on the lips?
