Chapter 66: Helping to Seek Benefits
The Reyes Villa
"Mr. Smith, you don't have to wait for me. I might be a while. Plus, you need to get some rest."
Emily spoke up before getting out of the car, hoping to avoid another incident like the one at the orphanage.
Is she worried about me?
Daniel met Emily's sincere gaze and suppressed a smile. "Alright."
Emily took a moment in the car.
Eli, like a cat smelling fish, approached again, eager to catch a glimpse of Daniel's true face.
Emily sneered.
No way was she giving him that chance.
She quickly got out of the car, shutting the door behind her, and York drove off immediately.
Eli was left in a cloud of exhaust fumes.
Emily felt great and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You jerk!"
Eli was furious.
Emily deliberately shook her head, raising her eyebrows happily.
"Emily, this is the Reyes Villa. How can you act like this and make Dad so angry? You should apologize to him right now!"
At that moment, Bianca arrived, disapprovingly scolding Emily.
Emily glanced at her sideways. "Why are you always everywhere?"
"How can you talk to Bianca like that? She's just trying to help you. She has a good relationship with Byron, and she thought she could help persuade the Reyes family on your behalf. You're so ungrateful!"
Eli couldn't help but scold.
Emily rolled her eyes. "I don't need it."
"You..."
"Alright, Dad, I don't mind. Don't scold Emily anymore. After all, this is the Reyes Villa."
Bianca generously advised.
Eli saw the Reyes family's butler coming out and suppressed his anger, not continuing to scold.
It wasn't Eli's first time here, so the butler recognized him and immediately went inside to announce their arrival.
Soon, the butler opened the door and led the group inside.
In the past, Isaac would have come out to greet them. Now, knowing Emily's strained relationship with Eli, he didn't bother to pretend.
So, he didn't come out to greet them at all.
Eli naturally noticed the difference and felt quite displeased.
All of this was because of Emily.
He couldn't help but glare at Emily again.
Once inside.
Isaac, who had been sitting, immediately brightened up upon seeing Emily behind Eli and excitedly got up to greet her.
In Eli's eyes, Isaac's enthusiasm was because he saw Bianca.
Bianca thought the same.
Proudly, she stepped forward with a smile. "Mr. Reyes, I'm sorry about last time. So today, we brought Emily to apologize in person."
Isaac's path to Emily was blocked by Bianca stepping forward.
Hearing her words, he glanced at Emily with some confusion.
Emily mouthed silently, "My identity, keep it secret!"
Isaac immediately understood Emily's meaning.
He withdrew his gaze and nodded at Bianca. "Is that so? I thought the Johnson family was going to pretend nothing happened!"
Bianca stiffened at Isaac's sarcastic words.
But she quickly adjusted herself.
Isaac's harsh words were due to his anger.
Eli hurriedly pulled Emily forward. "What are you standing there for? Apologize to Mr. Reyes!"
He also smiled at Isaac. "Isaac, Emily was thoughtless. She's here to apologize in person. Please forgive her for her youth and inexperience. If you want to punish her, I won't object at all."
Hearing Eli's words, Isaac knew he didn't care about Emily at all.
Emily seemed to have really behaved since entering the Reyes Villa.
When Eli asked her to apologize, she cooperated and stepped forward.
The Reyes Villa
"Mr. Reyes, I'm from the Johnson family. My dad brought me to apologize in person. I'm sorry for the trouble."
Emily obediently apologized.
But Eli and Bianca both frowned unconsciously.
Something felt off.
They soon realized what was wrong.
Isaac understood Emily's intention perfectly.
"Children's mistakes are the parents' fault. Eli, you should discipline your daughter better," he said.
Eli thought Isaac's tone was softening and immediately nodded with a smile. "Yes, yes, don't worry. I'll make sure to educate her properly."
Bianca also chimed in, "Mr. Reyes, it's my fault for not teaching my sister well. I'll make sure to keep her in line from now on."
Isaac nodded. "Very well. Since Emily is from the Johnson family, her mistake requires compensation from the Johnson family, right?"
Eli's heart sank.
He realized he had been tricked.
Isaac wasn't as easygoing as he seemed; he was waiting for this moment.
But now was not the time to refuse.
"Of course, Isaac. Whatever conditions you have, just say it. We should compensate, and I won't delay."
Suppressing his resentment, Eli replied with a smile.
But in his heart, he thought, Emily has caused such a loss for the Johnson Group. She has no other use; it seems marriage is the only option left.
James should be paired with Bianca, so he needed to find another beneficial match for Emily.
Emily had no idea Eli was planning to sell her off.
"Alright, I think we should adjust the terms of our current project. How about an additional five percent?" Isaac immediately suggested with a smile.
Five percent was too high.
Eli hesitated, and after some bargaining, they settled on three percent.
Bianca, though not well-versed in business, understood the basic figures.
She took the opportunity to lecture Emily. "Emily, because of your recklessness, the Johnson Group will lose at least tens of millions of dollars. And Dad, for your sake, is willing to concede such a significant benefit. Don't ever say he's biased again, and stop acting out. Come home and behave, alright?"
Go home and continue to be her shadow?
Emily remained indifferent. "If Dad could resolve it this easily, why wait until now?"
Because this loss was nothing significant for the Johnson Group.
Bianca looked at Emily with a pained expression. "Emily, why are you still so thoughtless? And do you think this is over? You still need to apologize to Byron and earn his forgiveness for this to be truly settled."
Emily indeed needed to see Byron.
But she didn't expect Bianca to be so eager to see her humiliated.
"Mr. Reyes, how is Byron doing? Emily came today to earn his forgiveness. How about I take her upstairs to see him?"
Eli, having lost out on the deal, was in a foul mood.
He didn't expect Bianca to make such a request.
He looked at Bianca with confusion and displeasure, whispering in her ear, "Isn't it over? Why bring this up?"
Bianca replied, feeling wronged, "Dad, you don't think Mr. Reyes is done, do you? He truly cares about Byron. We need to show the right attitude, and it's rare for Emily to cooperate and come to the Reyes Villa."
Eli was convinced and agreed, "Having Emily apologize to Byron in person could help him calm down and recover faster."
Isaac glanced at Emily, getting her nod of approval, and then said, "Alright."
He led them to Byron's room.
"What happened?" Bianca couldn't help but exclaim upon seeing the person in the bed!
