"Mr. Smith, what are you really up to, tricking Emily into being your girlfriend? Emily may be naive and not understand, but as a fellow man, you think I don't know what you're thinking?"

Aaron suddenly spoke up.

Daniel knew this was coming, though he hadn't expected Aaron to know even this much.

It seemed Emily really had a close relationship with Aaron - she trusted him enough to tell him these things.

Daniel looked directly into Aaron's questioning gaze without fear.

"Yes, I've had feelings for Emily for a long time. As for the acting arrangement, Emily was the one who suggested it. I didn't force her or use any tricks. I've never thought about deceiving or scheming against her, and without you having to say it, I will never do anything to hurt her."

If he didn't know this person was important to Emily, given Daniel's personality, he wouldn't waste his breath explaining so much.
