Chapter 260 Finally Seeing Someone
"Since I'm going to marry Yosef, I naturally need to understand these businesses. Don't you think so?"
Emily's presence was commanding. As soon as she spoke, these subordinates felt impressed.
"Yes, yes, yes, you're absolutely right. But they're still training the new ones inside. Why don't you wait a moment? I'll go tell the people inside to quiet down!"
As the man said this, his eyes darted around quickly.
Clearly, he was testing whether Emily had the guts.
But Emily smiled and said, "Sure, I just don't like the sound of women screaming - it's harsh on the ears. Go ahead, tell them to stop, then come out and let me know, and I'll go in!"
Emily went right along with what he said.
This immediately drew his scrutiny.
But Emily had such a strong presence and spoke with such composure that she actually managed to bluff him for the moment.
It seemed like Emily really just didn't like the noise.
So, of the two guards at the door, one stayed to keep Emily company while the other went in to make arrangements.
Emily took this opportunity to deal with the person at the door.
Then she ordered the person she had hypnotized to drag the body away and hide it first.
Emily continued waiting at the entrance.
One hand hung at her side, secretly gripping the dagger in her hand.
Her eyes stared intently at the entrance.
Soon, the person who went in came back out, accompanied by a man who must have been the one torturing women inside.
A flash of cold light passed through Emily's eyes.
The man was still puzzled about why Emily was alone now.
Emily smiled calmly and said, "I needed him to help me with something, so he left temporarily."
Since that person had left without monitoring Emily, he became even more certain of Emily's identity as Yosef's woman, and treated her even more respectfully.
"Then shall I have this man lead you inside now?"
"Sure, you keep watch at the door!"
Emily replied with a smile.
Then she followed the man who had just been torturing people inside.
The smell on that man - Emily immediately knew what he had been doing inside. She felt her stomach churning violently.
This kind of person, having just taken drugs, wasn't as respectful to Emily as the guard outside. She could even see from his eyes that he was probably still thinking about sex.
Emily moved closer to him.
He actually thought Emily was attracted to his strong physique and trying to seduce him.
So he let Emily approach without any suspicion.
Until!
Emily stuck a silver needle into a spot on his back.
His waist went soft, and his whole body collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud.
Since getting inside required passing through a corridor, no one else noticed.
Emily quickly made him fall unconscious. She kicked him to the edge of a corner where people wouldn't easily see him.
Only then did she continue forward.
Inside, there was only one person.
He was holding a whip, though he wasn't hitting anyone at the moment. But the woman lying on the ground was in tattered clothes, her back covered in whip marks, clearly having just suffered abuse.
Beside her were several cruel instruments.
Emily's eyes grew even colder at the sight.
She suppressed her anger and approached the man holding the whip.
"You must be Mr. Stevens' girlfriend, right? Didn't someone say they'd bring you in? Where are they?"
The man looked Emily up and down and asked.
The woman who had been beaten and was lying on the ground barely alive lifted her eyes to look at Emily when she heard the man's words.
Seeing it was a woman, her eyes showed surprise and confusion.
Her thoughts probably went in circles, then turned to resentment.
She had already decided Emily was in league with them.
As a fellow woman, Emily was working with these men to torture them - that's why her reaction was so strong.
"You'll die a horrible death!" She actually used up her strength to curse viciously at Emily.
Right after the woman cursed, the man beside her cracked his whip, cursing unconsciously, "You looking to die? How dare you curse Mr. Stevens' woman!"
But the next moment, his whip didn't land on the woman's body - Emily caught it firmly.
Emily then yanked it hard, "This is merchandise we need to make money from. If you damage it, will you pay for it?"
The man hadn't expected Emily to react so quickly and catch the whip, and with such strength too. When she yanked it away, he even stumbled.
But only this kind of woman could be Yosef's woman. She really was different from those weak women. No wonder Brother Zhi thought highly of her.
"Yes, yes, yes, you're right. But don't worry, I know what I'm doing. She's got surface wounds - won't actually kill her!"
"That's more like it. But try to be more subtle, use other methods that won't leave marks. At least that way she'll be worth more money!"
Emily wasn't unaware of the look in the eyes of the woman lying on the ground, but she kept her composure on the surface.
"Just this one woman? Where are the others being held? Are there any better ones? I need to see this batch of goods too!"
"If you want to see them, there's naturally more fresh merchandise. This way please, there are quite a few more locked up inside!"
As he spoke, he made an inviting gesture.
Emily followed, looking around while casually asking, "Are there more guards inside?"
"Well, there's a new assignment... Anyway, those people are all locked up, and there are guards at the door. Don't worry, they won't escape."
Emily had been worried there might be more people inside, which would make things more troublesome to deal with.
Now she was not only relieved there was no one inside, but had also gotten even more useful information.
She relaxed.
After going inside, once the man used his pupil scan and opened the door, Emily knocked him out directly.
The women who had been hiding in fear saw the man appear again and became even more frightened, curling up into balls, their eyes looking at the man in terror, their whole bodies trembling.
They didn't even dare look at Emily.
It wasn't until the door opened and Emily suddenly knocked the man out that those people looked at Emily in disbelief.
Finally, someone gathered the courage to ask, "You... you're not with them. You're here to rescue us, right? Are you with law enforcement? You came specifically to save us, didn't you?"
The other women also looked at Emily with hopeful eyes.
Emily couldn't bear to shatter their illusions.
She nodded, "I'm here to save people, but I can't do it alone. You also need to learn to save yourselves. Now, I've opened the door for you. You have two choices. One is to risk possibly being discovered, and I'll lead you up the mountain by another route."
Emily paused here.
She continued, "The other choice is you stay here, but you need to learn to save yourselves. If someone comes in later to take you away, you need to catch them off guard and knock them out. Don't say you can't do it - one person might not be able to, but you have so many people!"
The woman who had spoken first hesitated.
She exchanged glances with the others, seeming to discuss in low voices.
