Chapter 198 Jealousy, Resorting to Tricks

Chapter 198 Jealousy, Resorting to Tricks

Violette ushered Daniel inside and called out, "Emily, Daniel's here to see you."

She was in a hurry because she didn't want Emily to keep Daniel waiting, fearing it might annoy him.

Emily was on the phone with Knox at the time.

"I'll send you a big gift another day, how about that?"

"What kind of gift? I already owe you plenty. You don't need to spend anything on me. You know I don't need anything right now!"

Emily was surprised by Knox's sudden offer.

Her immediate thought was that he wanted to give her something valuable.

Knox chuckled and said, "You might not need other things, but you'll definitely like this gift. It's connected to someone from the Johnson family."

"Are you talking about Hayden? There's no need for that. Even if I have to save him, it would be with the condition that the Johnson Group gives me twenty percent of their shares. Besides, I already have a plan to save him. You don't need to spend any resources or put yourself at risk."

Knox felt warmth in his heart hearing her concern.

Did this mean she had feelings for him?

Meanwhile, Daniel, who had been led to the study door by Violette, overheard the conversation.

His heart raced.

He needed to act fast to make Emily his.

Knox had his ways, but Daniel was determined that Emily belonged to him alone.

Emily was unaware that Daniel had arrived and overheard her conversation.

Knox laughed and said, "If I can make you care, then I'm willing to do something for you. But what's your plan? If you're really going to save someone, you must take me with you. Otherwise, I'll stop you, understand?"

Knox was worried that Emily might put herself in danger.

Saving someone in Zephyria was a life-or-death situation!

Because he cared about her safety, he didn't mention what the real gift was.

Emily was about to respond when Daniel lightly coughed at the door, interrupting her call with Knox.

He couldn't hear what Knox was saying, but he knew it was undoubtedly sweet talk to deceive Emily.

Daniel would never allow Emily to be easily deceived.

Emily looked up at the sound and met Daniel's gaze.

Daniel pushed the door open and said, "Emily, I need to talk to you."

His voice wasn't loud, but it was enough for Knox to hear that it was a man's voice.

Knox's face darkened.

He wondered who the man on the other end of the phone was. Emily had said she was at home, so why was there a man's voice?

Knox immediately asked, "Emily, are you hiding someone in a golden house?"

He used a teasing tone to probe.

Because he wasn't anyone special to her, he didn't even have the right to question her.

Emily didn't catch the jealousy in his voice and quickly said, "Just a friend. I have to go."

She didn't realize she had given priority to Daniel in her heart.

"Why are you here? Is something wrong?"

She thought that Daniel, who was always busy, must have something important to discuss if he came to see her in person.

Daniel didn't speak, but he glanced at Violette.

Violette immediately understood and said, "I'll leave you two to talk. I'm going to rest."

Once Violette left, only the two of them remained in the room.

The night was long, and the gentle breeze outside added a touch of intimacy.

Daniel spoke with a hint of apology, "Grandpa doesn't want to stay in the hospital. I also think it's not safe there, so I've brought him home."

Emily nodded, waiting for him to continue.

"I mentioned before that I wanted to ask you to move into the Smith Villa with me. On one hand, it would prevent him from being poisoned again. On the other hand, I need your help to treat him and find out who the real culprit is."

Daniel wanted to make it hard for Emily to refuse.

After speaking, he bowed slightly, "Thank you!"

Emily had already agreed to the act, and now that he was asking so humbly, she couldn't say no.

"Okay!"

Emily nodded.

Daniel smiled, "Thank you!"

He rarely smiled, and Emily thought it was just his personality.

When he smiled, it was as if the world lost its color, making it easy for people to lose themselves.

Emily thought he should smile less. He already had many admirers, and if he smiled more, who knows how many more women would fall for him.

"Let's go then!"

While Emily was lost in thought, Daniel walked over, took her hand, and started leading her outside.

Emily was startled, "Wait, today?"

Although she had agreed, it didn't seem that urgent.

Daniel realized she had misunderstood and stopped.

But he didn't let go of her hand.

Her hand was small and soft, and holding it gave him a sense of satisfaction.

"Sorry for the misunderstanding. I plan to go tomorrow, but since it's urgent and my fault, I thought I'd help you pack the things you'll need for the Smith Villa."

Daniel's attitude was sincere, and Emily realized she had overthought it.

She quickly waved her hand, noticing that he was still holding hers.

Emily felt even more embarrassed.

Daniel noticed her discomfort and discreetly let go of her hand.

Emily smiled, "You don't need to help me pack. I don't have many things. I'll just grab a few items quickly."

Daniel saw her insistence and nodded, "Alright. You don't need to bring much. I'll have everything prepared at the villa. It's late, so get some rest. I'll pick you up in the morning."

In reality, he didn't need to rush.

But Knox's presence made him feel a strong sense of urgency. He thought the sooner they left, the better, before Knox could find Emily.

Emily had no idea that Daniel was already feeling competitive with Knox.

After seeing Daniel off, she packed her laptop and a few changes of clothes.

She only brought a homemade face cream, as her natural beauty required little maintenance.

The next morning, Emily informed Violette, Atticus, and Liam that she'd be away for a few days.

Liam clung to her leg, "Emily, I'll miss you."

Emily knew Liam felt insecure and was about to comfort him when Daniel arrived.

Daniel, who Liam liked, saw the boy's reluctance and suggested, "How about Liam comes to the Smith Villa for a few days?"

With Liam there, it might even bring them closer.

Emily didn't realize Daniel's ulterior motive and thought he was being considerate.

Having someone unconditionally support you was something Emily rarely experienced in her past life, and it touched her.

"I'll check the villa first. If it's okay, I'll come back for him," Emily said, aware of potential dangers at the Smith Villa.

Daniel understood her concern and admitted, "Sorry, I didn't consider that. We'll wait a few days."

He patted Liam's head, "Liam, wait a few days. Then I'll come get you and Emily."

Liam, though reluctant, nodded obediently.

Daniel's caution was wise.

Shortly after he and Emily left, Knox arrived.
