Chapter 145 You Should Supplement Your Brain
"Fine, but not now!"
Bianca knew this was coming, so she wasn't surprised when she got Eli's call.
But she wasn't ready to just accept it. Emily was probably gloating behind her back; she had to do something.
Eli frowned but didn't scold her. He knew she had her own ideas, so she must have something in mind.
"Explain yourself!"
Bianca spoke frankly, "Dad, if I step forward now, I'll be embarrassed, the Johnson Group will be embarrassed, and Chase might not come out well either. It's not good for us. I think we should have Chase's side stall the partners until my competition is over. Don't forget, I have a design contest coming up."
In the past, Eli would have trusted Bianca without question. But lately, he found out that Bianca had been causing quite a stir.
Bianca's words made Eli silent.
Seeing he hadn't responded, Bianca started to get nervous, her palms sweating.
"Alright, I'll give you more time. Have Chase's side wait. When is your competition, and when will the results be out?"
Bianca sighed in relief, "The deadline for submissions is three days from now. The results should be out this week. After the preliminary round, I'll need to be present for the semi-finals."
"Okay!"
Eli hung up the phone.
Bianca thought for a moment and called Erik. "Erik, has Emily submitted her entry yet?"
"It looks like she just did!"
Erik replied, not suspecting anything. Although Emily's reputation had slightly improved after the last incident, Bianca's reputation in the class remained intact, so Erik treated her well.
Bianca seized the opportunity, "I wonder if I could take a look. Don't get me wrong, I've already submitted mine, so there's no issue of plagiarism. I'm just concerned about her. Emily's been really busy lately, and since she's participating, I worry she might not have put in enough effort. It would be embarrassing if the results turned into a joke."
She was adept at portraying herself as kind-hearted and considerate.
Erik thought she was too kind.
But, unfortunately, he couldn't help, "Too bad you're late. Since Emily switched majors, she's no longer under our management. She probably submitted directly to the responsible professor. Why don't you ask Emily directly? She might have misunderstood you before, but if you're sincere, I believe she'll feel your goodwill."
Erik suggested kindly.
"Alright, I will. Thanks, Erik!"
Even though Bianca felt bitter inside, she could only smile and agree.
After hanging up, her face turned cold.
She even took out Emily's photo, stuck it on a dartboard, and threw a dart, hitting Emily right between the eyes.
"Emily, we'll see about that!"
Her eyes were icy, filled with malice towards Emily.
Meanwhile, Emily was unaffected and received a call from Daniel.
Not long ago, Charles had pointed out the news about the Johnson family online.
"Chase, isn't that Emily's brother who lives next door to you? Do you think she'd help? I thought you had a thing for her. Want me to step in and help?"
Charles winked at Daniel, seemingly flirting.
Daniel rubbed his forehead in exasperation, looking like he couldn't bear to watch.
"Keep it up, and I'll have York throw you out," he said coolly.
Charles immediately mimed zipping his lips. "Fine, I won't say anything. But it's obvious you like Emily. She's grown up nicely, and she's pretty. But is she really worth all this fuss? If I'd known you liked this type, I'd have introduced you to someone better."
"She's special. No one compares," Daniel replied, practically confessing his feelings for Emily.
Seeing it was one thing, but hearing it so plainly still surprised Charles.
"You're serious?"
"When have I ever not been serious?" Daniel replied calmly.
Charles straightened up. "So, you're not going to do anything about the news online?"
Daniel reached out.
Charles understood immediately, pulling up the news on his phone and handing it over.
Daniel read it carefully. It was about Chase's plagiarism scandal.
He finished reading, looking unperturbed. "No need to intervene."
He had investigated Emily when he discovered she was the skilled doctor.
He knew about her life at the Johnson Villa, how much she had given to the Johnson family, and how they misunderstood and hurt her.
If Emily hadn't changed, started to fight back, he might have intervened earlier.
Now, he respected her decisions and didn't interfere unless she asked.
From what he understood, Bianca wasn't talented enough to create that song. He suspected Emily was behind it, which was why the Johnson family couldn't clear their name despite their denial.
Because Emily refused to provide evidence.
"I can't believe you've fallen for her. Love really is blind! Honestly, I think Emily is no match for that skilled doctor. Talented, unique, youthful voice, and a doctor knows how to take care of themselves. Her eyes were beautiful even behind a mask."
Charles paused, then continued, "Come to think of it, Emily's eyes look a lot like the doctor's. Maybe they're sisters? Maybe Emily isn't really from the Johnson family?"
The more he talked, the more he believed it.
After all, the Johnson family treated Emily terribly.
Daniel was speechless.
Suddenly, he wondered if he needed such a foolish friend.
Isn't it possible that Emily is the skilled doctor?
Charles never considered it because he had a preconceived notion that Emily, a pretty girl, couldn't have such high-level medical skills.
In short, he underestimated her.
"We should have some nuts tonight. Charles needs them!" Daniel suddenly said to the cook.
Charles glared, "Hey, why are you changing the subject? And when did I say I wanted nuts?"
York was the first to react, stifling a laugh as he translated, "Mr. Green, I believe Mr. Smith means you need to boost your brainpower!"
Charles finally caught on, annoyed, "Oh, Daniel, you're mocking me! I didn't say anything bad about Emily! You've forgotten your friends for a girl. And since when did you start joking?"
Actually, it was because Daniel now seemed more alive.
Daniel smirked, saying nothing.
He ignored Charles and went to his study.
Then he dialed Emily's number.
