Chapter 131: Real or Fake Doctor, Emily Will Identify
"Hey, you okay now?"
Emily waited a moment, making sure Daniel's breathing had calmed down before she spoke.
Daniel's eyes were locked on hers.
If she hadn't said anything, he probably would've wanted her to stay on his lap until they landed. But he knew that was out of the question.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Daniel let go of her waist.
Emily quickly got up from his lap and took the seat next to him.
She tried to act like nothing happened, but the awkwardness hung in the air, making her feel a bit embarrassed. She stayed quiet.
Daniel noticed her discomfort and decided to keep quiet too.
Even with her sitting so close, he could still catch the faint scent of her perfume. He closed his eyes slightly, letting her fragrance linger in his senses.
Emily closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep, but her mind was racing.
She felt like Daniel was watching her.
Emily thought she'd stay tense until they reached Regal City, but she unexpectedly drifted off with her eyes closed.
She didn't realize she trusted Daniel enough to fall asleep without any guard up.
As she slept, time passed by.
---
At a hotel in Regal City.
Chase was by Aurora's side. Aurora lay on the bed, looking so frail it was heartbreaking.
"Aurora, don't worry. Bianca promised she'd bring a top-notch doctor. You'll be fine soon."
Chase glanced at his watch. "She said they'd be here by ten. It's almost time. I'll give her a call to check."
"Alright, I understand."
Aurora smiled at Chase, trying to reassure him.
She now knew Chase was from the Johnson Group, which had softened her attitude towards him. Plus, his genuine concern for her had made her warm up to him.
Aurora knew about Chase's identity thanks to Emily.
Emily wanted Aurora to make an informed decision, ensuring Chase wouldn't waver because of her uncertain attitude, potentially provoking Wren.
Aurora thought of Emily, who had asked about the skilled doctor.
She wondered if Emily would show up.
Chase stepped out to call Bianca.
Bianca saw the call and frowned slightly but answered warmly, "Hey, Chase. What's up?"
"Not much. You said you'd bring the skilled doctor by ten. It's almost time, so I wanted to check where you are."
James overheard and looked at Bianca, silently asking: What did Chase say?
Bianca suppressed her irritation and replied, "We're almost there, Chase. Don't worry. You can count on me."
"Of course I trust you. I'm just worried about any unexpected delays. Alright, Aurora and I will wait for you. She's looking worse."
Chase lowered his voice, emphasizing his concern.
"Got it, Chase."
Bianca knew Chase wanted to make sure the doctor was reliable.
After hanging up, Bianca explained to James, "Chase is just worried, so he called to check."
"Alright."
James responded coolly. He felt uneasy about impersonating the doctor, finding it somewhat unethical.
Bianca didn't notice James's mood and turned to the doctor. "Your skills are top-notch. You'll be the legendary doctor. If you cure Chase's friend, I'll make you famous. Sound good?"
Dr. Dwayne Larson smiled confidently, "Don't worry. I'll give it my best shot."
Bianca nodded, satisfied.
Soon, they arrived at the hotel. Bianca headed straight to the room Chase had mentioned.
"Bianca, you're here. Is this the doctor you were talking about?"
Chase's eyes fell on the unfamiliar Dwayne.
With his white hair and beard, Dwayne looked the part, easing Chase's doubts.
Bianca introduced him, "This is Dr. Larson. Let him take a look at your friend."
"Alright."
Chase was so worried about Aurora that he barely acknowledged James.
James stayed calm but felt a bit displeased.
As "Dwayne" examined Aurora, Emily and Daniel had landed. Emily mentioned she needed to pick up some people and parted ways with Daniel.
She then gathered several important individuals and headed to the hotel.
A knock on the door.
Bianca and James exchanged glances, their hearts racing, feeling an ominous premonition.
Chase frowned, "Who's that? Bianca, did you call someone?"
Bianca shook her head, "I thought you called someone, Chase."
Chase, worried it might be fans or reporters, told his assistant, "Check who it is. If it's fans or journalists, call security to get rid of them."
His tone was clearly annoyed.
Given the hotel's high privacy standards, any breach would warrant his complaints.
The assistant cracked the door open slightly, asking, "Who are you looking for?"
Just then, Aaron, beside Emily, kicked the door open.
The assistant stumbled from the force, stepping aside.
Regaining his balance, the assistant demanded, "Hey, who are you? Are you one of Chase's crazy fans? I'll call security to kick you out, along with the others..."
The assistant trailed off, noticing the imposing presence of the older individuals behind Emily, clearly not fans.
Emily's sharp gaze pinned the assistant, "This isn't your concern. Stay out of it."
Without giving the assistant time to react, Emily nodded to the important figures, whom she had briefed to wait outside until needed.
Emily and Aaron stepped inside, heading straight to the bedroom.
Chase, Bianca, and the others heard the approaching footsteps and looked up.
Seeing Emily, Chase's face darkened, his gaze icy, "What are you doing here? I've already found a doctor. Are you jealous of Bianca's capabilities?"
Bianca's eyes flickered with guilt upon seeing Emily.
But she steeled herself, knowing there was no turning back. As long as she didn't admit anything, Emily had no proof.
Bianca's gaze hardened, "Emily, I don't know how you found out about the doctor. Whether you're jealous or trying to sabotage Chase's happiness, you're not welcome here. Please leave."
Bianca's words were more direct than ever.
Emily ignored Bianca and Chase's nonsense, focusing on the supposed doctor.
"So, you claim to be the skilled doctor?" Emily asked calmly.
