Chapter 108: Present the Evidence
"Violette, slow down!"
Normally, if Violette wanted to blow off some steam, Emily wouldn't hold her back.
But this was a live stream. Every move Violette made was under a microscope. We had the facts on our side, but we couldn't afford to lose the upper hand because of one impulsive action.
There would be plenty of chances to deal with Rhett later.
Emily's eyes darkened as she glared at Rhett.
Rhett felt a surge of triumph when he saw Emily and the others arrive.
The advice from his behind-the-scenes allies had paid off. They managed to force them out.
This time, he didn't rush forward to hit Violette. Instead, he put on a pained and emotional expression.
He hurried forward and tried to grab Violette's hand. "Violette, you're finally here! We're husband and wife. I love you so much. Please don't leave me and take the kids. Don't let Emily influence you. She's miserable and wants you to be miserable too. Can't you see that?"
"Shut up, Rhett! How can you be so shameless? You cheated on me and the kids first, and now you're trying to twist things around!"
Violette was furious at Rhett's audacity and couldn't help but yell at him.
Rhett pretended to be hurt. "Did Emily tell you I cheated? She's just trying to wreck our relationship because she's jealous. Do you know why the Johnson family doesn't like her? It's because she always bullies Bianca. How can you believe she's a good person when her own family doesn't like her?"
Rhett's words started swaying the online viewers.
"If the whole family doesn't like her, there must be something off."
"There's a saying, 'Pity those who are pitiful because they must have done something terrible.' She might be pretty, but she looks so cold. She must be tough!"
Occasionally, someone would say, "Let's not jump to conclusions. Let's see how things unfold."
Immediately, that person would be attacked.
"Are you one of Emily's paid supporters? Look at her uncle and his mother, they look so worn out and pitiful. How can she be so indifferent? I'm siding with the uncle."
Emily didn't care how the online viewers perceived her at the moment.
She coldly shouted, "Shut up!"
Then she turned and handed the USB drive to the security guard. "Please, play this."
After doing this, Emily looked at Rhett with a cold and indifferent expression.
"You've gotten a bit smarter than before, but the people behind you aren't very bright either. So, even as a fool, you can't accomplish much. Do you think pretending to be pitiful will make the viewers lose their judgment? Unfortunately, lies can't become the truth, and the truth can't be disguised as a lie. Violette wants to divorce you, and pretending to be ignorant won't help."
Emily felt like she was wasting her breath.
She didn't care about the online opinions herself.
But Violette couldn't handle it. Her mental strength was fragile, and Atticus's future job would involve interacting with many people. Sofia was still in school.
For children who hadn't experienced many major changes, this kind of public scrutiny could be overwhelming.
Emily had lived another life, and the hardships she had endured made her forget that she was only eighteen, still a person who needed her family's protection.
"You wicked woman, what nonsense are you talking about? If it weren't for you, would Violette divorce Rhett? You've caused chaos in the Johnson family, bullied Bianca because she's weak, and now you're harming Violette."
Rhett seized the moment to speak, "Violette, come on. Have you forgotten the good times we had? Remember when you were pregnant and craving fruit on that stormy night? I went out searching all over just to find some for you. Think about all the effort we put into being together."
Rhett was trying to play the emotional card.
But Violette was no longer the naive person she used to be. Recently, besides working at the villa, she had been reading a lot. They say reading makes you wise.
Now she was no longer the fool she once was.
Especially when Rhett mentioned their past happiness, she couldn't help but think of the scenes of him being intimate with his mistress, which made her feel sick.
"How dare you talk about our happiness. You were the one who betrayed me. You not only secretly found a mistress but also tried to scheme against me and Sofia, planning to sell us. Why didn't you talk about our bond then?"
Violette's eyes turned red, and her gaze grew more resentful.
As soon as she said this, the online viewers began a heated discussion.
"No way! He cheated? What a scumbag! And in this day and age, selling his wife and daughter? Hey, man, explain yourself. That's illegal!"
"I told you not to jump to conclusions. A woman who has given birth to his children for over a decade wouldn't just divorce for no reason. The man must have done something."
Rhett saw the comments and was momentarily speechless. He quickly found his voice again.
"I didn't. Emily lied to deceive you. Besides, you don't have any evidence. How can you accuse me without proof? Violette, I just want you to come back with me."
"Get lost! I'm not going back. Don't forget we've already signed the divorce agreement."
Violette avoided Rhett's hand and protested.
Hearing that they had already divorced, some viewers felt that even if there were various reasons, since they had divorced, they should part amicably and stop entangling.
But some echoed Rhett's words, "You accused him of cheating. Where's the evidence?"
Immediately, many viewers agreed, "If you say your husband cheated, where's the proof? He said it was just a misunderstanding."
Rhett felt a surge of joy, "We haven't gotten the divorce certificate yet, so we're still married."
Violette's expression froze.
The thirty-day cooling-off period meant they hadn't gotten the divorce certificate.
She felt a bit panicked, her face looking very bad.
Emily placed her hand on Violette's shoulder, giving her strength. "Don't worry. It's a small matter. I'll handle it."
Then she nodded to the person operating the projector.
Soon, the screen began to display images.
Emily sneered, "You lied and accused without evidence. But I have proof."
Rhett's face changed.
But it was too late. The first image on the screen was of him having sex with a woman.
Emily knew it was a live stream, so she had "kindly" pixelated the image.
"Oh my God, he really did cheat. Why pretend to be a good man and deceive us? Scumbags should die."
"Trash, get lost!"
The viewers felt deceived and angrily cursed.
Rhett's face twisted with rage. He couldn't care less and rushed to stop it. "Bitch, turn it off! It's fake! All fake!"
But in the next moment, Emily flicked a silver needle.
Rhett felt his leg give way and fell to his knees.
Rhett's face contorted in pain.
Emily mocked, "Even if you kneel, Violette will never forgive you!"
Fallon, seeing Rhett suddenly kneel and the images on the screen, immediately cried out, "Turn it off! Violette, you bitch! That's your husband. You couldn't control your man, so how can you blame Rhett?"
