A New Form
A New Form
Sophia's POV
I parted my lips and felt air rushing into my lungs, and it was like breathing for the first time. My skin tingled, every nerve seeming to wake from a deep sleep, as if it had been imprisoned for ages. My chest rose and fell slowly, heavily, but filled with a warmth I didn’t recognize, it wasn’t the heat of fever or exertion... It was different, exotic, and complex...
I opened my eyes and blinked several times as the light hurt them. Colors and shapes began to form in front of me as I raised my hands to shield some of the brightness. I felt my muscles stretch; the sensation was strange, not painful, not tingling, something entirely new. My whole body was lying against the marble floor.
But I could understand: everything was new because this body had just been born, and I would need to get used to it. I saw my hand in front of my eyes, and the first thing I noticed was that my skin tone hadn’t changed, I was still fair-skinned. My fingers were slightly longer.
In the background, I began to hear a noise, something I hadn’t perceived before, the sound of people breathing around me, and it was loud. From that sound alone, I knew there were five people here.
I closed my eyes again and focused on the scents, realizing my mate's scents hadn't changed. Perseus still smelled like a living, vibrant forest, with intense notes of wild pine, apple trees, and resin, all touched with aged leather soaked in amber and oak moss.
Achilles carried the scent of oak moss, blended with orange blossom, and in the background came a trace of sandalwood. But when I breathed deeper, I caught something different, something sour, unpleasant, and I sighed, understanding why: the curse was on him. I just didn’t know exactly how yet.
As for Khalid, his scent remained as complex as ever: like black amber and myrrh, mixed with the dry warmth of a desert at sunset, where the sand still held the sun’s heat, but the air was cooling. There was also the subtle scent of dried earth after rare, sacred rain, mingled with the discreet perfume of dried roses, like a lost garden buried under the sands.
Finally, I opened my eyes again, and this time the light no longer hurt. I sat up, naked, and glanced down. My hair fell into my field of vision: it was a vivid, intense red, like living fire, moving as if it were made of flames. The cut reached my shoulders, something like a channel cut, I imagined.
My breasts weren’t very large, just the size I liked, enough to fit into my mates' hands without excess. My waist was a bit more defined, and I noticed I had pubic hair matching the fiery shade of my head. My thighs weren’t thick, but they were well-shaped.
‘It's perfect!’ I thought to myself.
I smiled, feeling through the bond that my mates agreed with my thoughts. I lifted my face and saw Nina’s, noting a small, proud smile on her lips.
She extended her hand, and I took it. She helped me up, and for a moment, I staggered, unable to fully support my own weight, it was simply that I needed to learn to walk anew.
Knowledge rushed through my mind so fast it made me dizzy, but Nina didn’t let go; she simply waited patiently for me to adjust.
"You'll remember little by little." Nina explained.
"I... I'm not human anymore." I said, and my voice sounded strange to my own ears, slightly softer, more delicate.
"No, you’re not..." Nina replied.
"But I haven’t lost my human ability." I said, smiling and placing my hand over my heart, remembering the many doors, one of which had been wounded but not completely broken.
"Exactly..." Nina smiled a little wider. "A very important step to keeping the Curse where it belongs."
"But I saw so many lost creatures..." My voice betrayed my sadness.
"We'll fight so that no more are lost." Khalid was the first to speak.
I turned to look at my mates. Achilles stood in the middle; I could see a soft aura around his body, a whitish hue, like he was standing in a snowstorm and his body heat melted the snowflakes around him. But I noticed his wolf spirit was distant, and that saddened me. Achilles’ expression was one of adoration, a silly smile on his lips.
Khalid stood to his left, a little further back. I could see his aura was yellowish, like sand constantly falling around him, and his Daemon was smiling. Khalid's expression was more composed, but his eyes burned with passion and love.
I shifted my gaze and found Perseus to Achilles’ right. There was an aura around him, like a shimmering heatwave blurring everything nearby. Helios shone like the sun at sunset. Perseus’ expression was joyful, but I could see the glint of fear in his eyes.
I no longer carried the same fears the old Sophia once bore, and I smiled at him.
"Don't worry, Perseus..." I said, my tone soft and gentle. "I understand what happened before, that it wasn’t your fault. It's okay. I forgive you for what happened."
Relief immediately washed over his face, as it did over Achilles’. Khalid showed no additional reaction regarding the subject.
"Soph!" Perseus said as he approached, wrapping me in his arms, and I could feel the warmth of his wolf spirit along with him. "I mean... Do you still want to be called Sophia?"
"Perseus..." I whispered, my eyes finding his brilliant blue ones, and I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck. I noticed I was a little shorter now, by maybe two centimeters. "Yes, my name will still be Sophia Turner. It'll be easier that way."
Perseus’ hands trembled against my back as he pulled me closer, overwhelmed by a feeling of freedom at my words, and tears started to fall down his face.
"Don’t cry, my love." I pleaded, cupping his face and wiping his tears away with my thumb.
Perseus only sighed, closed his eyes, and pressed his forehead against mine. We stayed like that for several minutes until my Alpha finally seemed satisfied and the tears stopped. In the end, I sealed my return and my forgiveness with a soft, tender kiss, just the lightest touch of my lips on his, not sexual, just a gesture of pure affection.
