Rejection Two

Khalid POV

I know I said I don't care about seeing Sophia in the arms of others, but the truth is it hurts, but I shouldn't do anything about it, on the contrary… I must remain faithful to my words.

I have known since the first moment I realized I am in love with this woman, that the rest of my life would be an eternal torture. That I would never have her in my arms and would always see her in the arms of others.

I know that Azrik is paying attention to my actions, I couldn't hide the sad smile, but it lasted only a short time before I controlled myself, but I found it interesting that Hélios doesn't care about what I am doing.

His reaction is the calmest possible, he just looks at Sophia embracing Aquiles with a gentle and loving smile on his lips. I know he noticed my sad smile, but he didn't do anything about it.

Definitely, Hélios knows that I would never act in a way to hurt Sophia, I have done many things to protect her and it wouldn't be now that I would change my attitudes.

After a few minutes, Sophia and Aquiles separated and Shangō began the ritual. I could feel her aura expanding and the electric runes started to spin and grow larger.

“Enter the circle.” Shangō spoke.

Sophia looked at Aquiles one last time before entering the red circle on the floor. Ivar did the same, his attitude is strange, as he hadn't tried to fight Aquiles.

I don't know what happened, but I know Ivar is different, not as proud as before and I am curious to know the reasons for this change.

As soon as the two were inside the circle, they were enveloped in several electric threads, but it seems they didn't cause physical damage. The red thread appears on Sophia's and Ivar's wrists and it is perfectly visible that they are connected. The thread has several flaws, but it still exists. Its glow is not so intense, but it is definitely strong, because if it weren't, it would have already broken.

Sophia raised her hand and looked at the thread, her expression of surprise and enchantment. It was surely the first time she had experienced something like this, but then she turned to Aquiles and Perseus, who were standing side by side.

She lowered her gaze to Aquiles' wrist and saw the thread there, but very weak and none on Perseus' wrist, and her expression is of confusion, but the next second of understanding.

I wish I could read her mind and understand what is going through her head at this moment.

“It is time to pronounce the words.” Shangō announced.

Ivar looked at Sophia for several seconds before speaking.

"By the blood and the will of the Gods, I, Ivar Volkheim, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack, renounce and undo the bond that unites me to Sophia Turner, Luna of the Black Moon Pack. May the thread of fate that linked us break, may the connection between our souls dissipate like ashes in the wind. From this moment on, you are no longer mine, and I am no longer yours. May the Moon witness my decision and so it shall be, now and forever."

At the end of these words, we can see the red thread beginning to stretch, at the same time as the cracks in the thread increase more and more. But something is interfering with this, everyone can see a slight greenish mist enveloping Ivar's wrist, making the thread continue there, like a profane extension.

Shangō's power increases, as the electricity begins to attack the greenish mist, but I take a step forward, because I see blood starting to flow from Sophia's mouth and I am not the only one wanting to prevent Sophia from getting hurt.

“STOP!” Azrik ordered. “If you interrupt the ritual, the three of you will die! Shangō knows what she is doing.”

I took a deep breath and clenched my hands tightly, to control myself and honestly, I can't understand how Shara hasn't shown up yet. He is too calm, too calm.

‘What is happening?’ I asked my Daemon, but he didn't answer me.

I sighed and shook my head slightly, not understanding my Daemon.

“Sophia, you need to speak the ritual too.” Shangō explained.

I see the woman I love place her hand on her chest and her white dress begins to be stained with red and the smell of her blood becomes even stronger.

"By the blood and the will of the Gods, I, Sophia Turner, Luna of the Black Moon Pack, renounce and undo the bond that unites me to Ivar Volkheim, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack.” Sophia speaks with difficulty and falls to her knees. “May the thread of fate that linked us break, may the connection between our souls dissipate like ashes in the wind. From this moment on, you are no longer mine, and I am no longer yours. May the Moon witness my decision and so it shall be, now and forever." She finishes speaking and her face is very pale, I know she is about to faint.

The electric runes are spinning very quickly, enveloping the two in a bluish bubble, I can feel the hairs on my body standing up from the amount of static electricity being created.

We can see the red thread beginning to stretch, like an elastic trying to find the breaking point, it moves and writhes, making both Ivar and Sophia scream in pain.

The greenish mist is trying to keep the thread connected, but it is becoming increasingly difficult and in an explosion, the thread breaks. For a second everything became too bright for me to see something, I just saw the end that links Ivar ricochets and breaks into two parts.

Before I could understand what was happening, one of the ends wrapped around my wrist and the other around Hélios' wrist. The force of this makes me stagger, while I feel inside my chest as if three hearts were beating.

“Finally.” I heard Shara's voice.

Everything is spinning and I think I am going to fall with the force of this union, but I felt a hand place itself on my waist, while a woody smell, like pine, apple, and pines, mixed with something that reminded me of aged leather, invades my nose. I blinked a few times and found Hélios' face very close to mine.

“Did you know?” I asked, both to Hélios and to Shara.
