The Sweetest Revenge

Sophia POV

Despite his charged and imposing aura, I did not bow, for doing so would mean being afraid… I did just the opposite, I looked into his yellow, almost golden eyes, and whatever happens from now on, I cannot be afraid, for that could bring agony and reveal many secrets.

“My name is Azrik Ragnharsen, I am the Elder of the Dragons and Judge of the Council of Races.” The voice of this man is hoarse, low, and has a different timbre than I have ever heard, it even has a strange sophisticated touch. “And you, despite your appearance, you don't seem like an innocent and fearful girl, as I was led to believe.”

“That girl was called Naomi Blanchet… I am Sophia Turner, the head nurse at Gillian's Memorial… The Beta of the Moon Warriors pack and the woman who killed some of her enemies point-blank.” I spoke with determination, still holding my head high.

It is difficult to identify the emotions on that man's face, but I managed to perceive a slight expression of pride.

“Are you in your right mind? Do you know what is happening?” Azrik asked.

“I know I was in the hospital… Because of…” I stopped speaking and sighed.

The situation was complicated, I still don't know why Perseus attacked me, but I know how much it hurts me. I brought my hand to my chest, feeling the prominent scars from the wounds.

“Perseus attacked me…” I whispered, and saying these words hurt me as much as the physical wound, if not more.

“Exactly, the Alpha of the Moon Warriors pack attacked you.” Azrik confirmed, paying attention to my reactions.

“Then I lost consciousness and when I woke up I was in Ivar's arms, in the middle of a hospital room, I tried to get away from him, but I was too weak to do so. I heard Khalid's voice and another person…” I calmly replied and smiled. “No, not another person, but Hélios, but when I looked to see if it was him, I found Khalid's face and was swallowed by a portal. After that, everything became confusing.”

“You wanted to come with me!” Ivar shouted, trying to get closer to me.

Shangō stepped in his way, preventing him from touching me.

“I believe Gáta cast some spell to try to confuse Miss Sophia's memory.” Shangō spoke, and I saw Ivar shrink.

“I understand, the crime of these two has gone too far.” Azrik spoke, his voice dropping a tone, becoming even more dangerous.

“Can I kill him?” I asked, somewhat excited, already able to feel Ivar's blood running through my fingers. “It will be easy to tear out his heart… I already broke his ribs.”

Shangō and Azrik looked at me baffled, as they didn't expect me to react that way.

“If a mate kills their other half, they carry a black mark for the rest of their life.” Shangō explained.

“Ah!” I looked at Ivar and realized something, there was a slight greenish energy around him.

I took a deep breath, understanding that this feeling, of wanting to kill him, was not mine, so to speak. I wanted to do it, but not in such a quick and hateful way. Certainly, if I had killed Ivar, the curse would be one step closer to exploding and releasing the Mother of Monsters.

“That's why we will perform the rejection ritual today.” Shangō informed.

“I won't accept it!” Ivar shouted in defiance, his voice filled with fury and despair. His eyes burned with an insane glow, and his expression distorted into something that bordered on madness, like a cornered animal about to attack.

That's exactly how I described to my players, on RPG, when someone lost themselves to madness, and I realized that Ivar's end would be as horrible as the end I saw for the players. I can't say I felt sorry for him, because Ivar deserved it.

Azrik turned to me.

“We can't force him to accept the rejection, the other solution would be for me to kill him, but that will hurt you and hurt Achilles.” Azrik informed. “But the bond between you needs to be cut.”

I gave a low laugh.

“Ivar will accept the rejection. I guarantee it.” I looked at Ivar who raised his eyebrows. “Just give me a few minutes alone with him, and he will change his mind.”

“Are you sure about this? Will you be able to control yourself?” Azrik asked.

“Yes, don't worry… If Ivar tries to attack me, I can protect myself, the balance between me and Achilles is almost at the end, I can control his aura very well.” I explained and saw Ivar shift his weight, becoming uncomfortable.

Shangō gestured to Azrik and the two left the room. Ivar knew he couldn't hurt me, otherwise, the two Elders would dismantle him.

“Think well, Ivar… If you accept the rejection, you can still live.” I spoke with controlled calm. “Otherwise, your life will end in a few seconds.”

“What's the point of living if I won't have anything?” Ivar replied, the mask of madness had disappeared.

“All right… You can keep the bond, but know… You will see me in Achilles' arms, kissing him, making love to him and you will never be able to touch me.” I explained and Ivar tried to launch at me, but I just dodged. “Your time with me is over, you have no more control over me.”

I smiled sadistically at Ivar.

“And I will love to torture you this way, because I know that the thing you hate the most is for others to see me… Your jealousy was what ended our bond.” I looked at Ivar, without any fear. “I loved you, it was pure, it was innocent, it was everything it should have been… You know, at first, you loved me too, because you were attentive, kind, a man.”

I sighed, somewhat tired of so much discussion.

“But the man turned into a monster, someone who let himself be carried away by hate, jealousy, the insatiable need for possession. You didn't want love, you wanted a trophy. Something to control, something that belonged only to you.” I moved away from Ivar and ran my hand through my hair, seeing the platinum strands and remembering how much I hate them.

“So, for you, seeing others around me will be your worst torture, because Achilles will never let you get close… Your prison will be even worse than just rejecting me.” I looked into Ivar's eyes and saw him waver. “Is that what you want?”

“You are MINE!” Ivar shouted, but he didn't try to advance, his voice didn't show as much confidence as before.

“No, Ivar, I never was and never will be.” I replied and walked up to him, this time letting Achilles' aura expand and the air around us start to get colder, to the point of small white snowflakes appearing. “Don't test my strength, or Achilles', you will never compare to him.”

I am almost sure that Gáta must have not told about my bond with Perseus, but if neither Azrik nor Shangō mentioned it, it means they don't know and that's why I didn't pull Hélios' energy, only Achilles' and Boreas'.

Ivar began to shrink with cold and fear appeared in his eyes.

“I will accept the rejection.” Ivar agreed.

I lowered my aura and then walked to the door and opened it.

“The ritual will happen.” I spoke to Azrik and Shangō who were waiting outside.
