Chapter 249

Chapter 249
“…How bad is it?” she asked quietly.

The captain exchanged a quick glance with the guards at his side before answering: “It’s a full scale strike, Madam. Surveillance interception, supply line shutdowns, corporate asset freezes, and… field action.”

Field action.

Not paperwork.

Not threats.

Not business.

Lucien was out there.

In danger.

Hunting.

Destroying.

Serena’s breath trembled.

“Patch me through,” she said. “To whoever is with him. Now.”

“We can’t, Madam...”

“You can.”

Her voice sliced through the hall like ice.

“You can patch me through, and you will, or I swear I will walk into the middle of that operation myself.”

The guards paled.

The captain cursed under his breath.

Then.. “Understood.”

He lifted his comm device.

Serena waited, her heart pounding like thunder, her breath shallow, her fingers trembling violently though she tried to steady them.

Static crackled.

Then a voice answered: “This is Team Alpha, Lucien Feng is in proximity. We are in the middle of breaching...”

Serena’s heart stopped.

Breaching.

He was there.

In the danger.

In the violence.

She whispered, voice weak and terrified: “Lucien…”

The soldier paused.

Then... “Ma’am… with all due respect, he won’t step back. He’s… furious.”

The word hit her stomach like a stone.

Furious.

She knew what Lucien was like when he was angry. But when he was furious, when Serena was hurt, he became something else entirely.

A storm.

A weapon.

A man without mercy.

The guard continued: “He wants the Weng family ruined by sunrise. And he said… he’s not stopping until Arabelle Weng is dragged out by her throat.”

Serena’s blood ran cold.

Arabelle had invited this.

But Lucien… Lucien was going too far.

“Lucien…” she whispered again, voice cracking.

But he didn’t hear her.

He wouldn’t.

He was already in the fire.

Already destroying everything in his path.

Already turning the night into a battlefield.

And Serena, standing in their bedroom doorway, alone, trembling, realized this was only the beginning.

Tonight… Lucien Feng had declared war and she didn’t know if she could stop him.

The warehouse district reeked of saltwater, oil, and fear.

Lucien stood in the center of the abandoned cargo depot Arabelle used as her covert control hub, now a ruin of smashed screens, overturned desks, and unconscious guards. His men swept through every corridor, securing intel, binding surviving operatives, dragging out crates of falsified documents, hush money accounts, and medical files.

He didn’t lift a finger to help.

He didn’t need to.

Every person here was already dead, they just weren’t buried yet.

Lucien stalked through the chaos like he was made of smoke and wrath. His black shirt was rolled to the elbows, hands gloved, jaw clenched hard enough to crack teeth. His eyes were ice, deadly, merciless.

“Report,” he snapped.

His second in command approached, breath strained.

“Sir, we’ve shut down all of Weng’s backdoor networks. Offshore accounts frozen. Their private dock is secured. Personnel captured.”

“And Arabelle?”

“Still missing.”

Lucien’s eyes narrowed into something lethal.

“She was here,” he said quietly. “I can feel it.”

He kicked aside a fallen chair and walked deeper into the offices. He paused at a desk where a laptop still ran a program. Surveillance footage.

And there, paused on the screen, Serena.

Panicked.

Arabelle had been watching her break down.

Lucien felt something inside him turn cold. Colder than anger. Colder than hate.

“This ends tonight,” he murmured. “Find her.”

“Yes, sir.”

Lucien moved the laptop off the table, lifted his gun, and fired once.

The screen exploded in sparks.

He didn’t take his eyes off the shards.

No one touches Serena and breathes.

Serena felt the room spin as she processed the news. Her breathing came sharp and uneven, adrenaline racing through her veins.

Lucien was out there.

Going after Arabelle.

Going after a family with generational power and dangerous connections.

Alone.

She pressed a hand to her chest, trying to steady the suffocating fear. “Get the car,” she whispered.

But before the guard could move, her phone buzzed.

A message.

From an unknown number.

One sentence.

“If Lucien doesn’t back off, someone else you love will fall.”

Her blood turned to ice.

Serena froze in the silent hallway, her fingers tightening around the cold metal railing as the words she overheard echoed like thunder in her skull.

“…Young Master Feng is already en route to the main Weng estate, full strike protocol.”

“Madam Serena must not leave the premises. Orders.”

Her heartbeat slammed against her ribs.

Lucien.

“Lucien, please, just answer,” she whispered, pacing the room. “Don’t shut me out. Not now.”

Still nothing.

Again, voicemail.

Her hands shook. She tried his assistant. His security head. His driver.

Every line rang out.

Her throat burned. She had never felt this helpless, this on the outside, since the beginning of everything. And after finally being honest with each other, this distance pierced deeper than she expected.

She sank onto the edge of the bed, hugging herself as dread curled tight inside her chest.

He’s going to do something irreversible…

She rose abruptly, unable to sit still, pacing in frantic circles as her mind spun.

Lucien wasn’t furious anymore. He was beyond fury. He was done warning. Done tolerating. Done restraining himself out of respect for her.

Arabelle had crossed the final line.

The one line Lucien had sworn no one would ever cross without consequences: Touching Serena’s family. And now here was a threat. She was being threatened again. If she shows this to Lucien, it'll get even worser.

She didn't know what to do as she stared down at her phone...
