Chapter 305 The Final Confrontation

Chapter 305 The Final Confrontation

The call ended abruptly, and Diana's expression darkened instantly.

Diana had already blocked all of Lachlan's escape routes,--yet somehow, he still managed to get away!

She turned to look at Nicholas, only to find he didn't show much emotion. Instead, he kept his head down, typing something on his phone.

A few minutes later, Clio's voice came through Diana's Bluetooth earpiece, "Boss, we've located the number from that call—it's at Meadow Hills Estate!"

"Meadow Hills Estate?" Diana froze for a moment. After she sold Meadow Hills Estate to Wendy, she'd heard it had been completely abandoned.

It was right next to a landfill—who would live there?

But then she remembered that Lachlan had been the real mastermind behind Wendy all along, Diana found it quite reasonable that he would hide there. After all, the place was remote, isolated and practically forgotten.

Diana looked up at Nicholas and discovered his phone was showing surveillance footage of Meadow Hills Estate.

"After Wendy disappeared, that place was abandoned, but I kept paying the electricity and internet bills." Nicholas handed his phone to Diana. "Since he's already there, there's no reason to let him escape, is there?"

"I'll take people over immediately and surround the place. Meadow Hills Estate isn't that big—we'll definitely catch him."

Nicholas was just about to step away when Diana grabbed his hand. "Nicholas..." Her voice trembled slightly. "Let's
bring your grandfather back together!"

Nicholas looked at her steadily, his gaze gradually softening. "Okay."

Dozens of cars sped towards Meadow Hills Estate in a powerful convoy. The landfill side was completely impassable—only the Meadow Hills Estate entrance was accessible.

As soon as they approached Meadow Hills Estate, Diana grabbed a tissue to cover her nose. The stench here was absolutely unbearable.

She was more convinced that abandoning this place back then was the right decision. If she hadn't abandoned this place, she would have been the fool.

Luke and Gemma led two teams quickly into Meadow Hills Estate. Nicholas also got out of the car, with Eric following beside him.

Diana quickly grabbed Nicholas. "Don't go in. They can handle it."

"Grandpa is naturally suspicious," Nicholas said calmly. "He may not be willing to come with anyone else." He pinched her cheek gently before removing her hand.. "He's not unconscious right now. It's safer if Eric and I go. Be good and wait here for me. Bruce will protect you."

Before Diana could say another word, Nicholas shut the car door.

Diana wanted to get out and chase after him, but Bruce had already stepped in front of her. "Ms. Windsor, Mr. Spencer can only feel at ease if you stay here. We've sent out hundreds of people—there's absolutely no problem."

As soon as he finished speaking, gunshots rang out from inside Meadow Hills Estate.

Diana immediately got out of the car, but Nicholas had already rushed in with his people.

Without hesitation, she called Clio. "Are the drones ready? Follow Nicholas and find Lachlan."

"Boss, the drones are in position. Taking off now!" As soon as Clio finished speaking, Diana heard the sound of drones launching into the air.

Hundreds of drones rapidly took to the air and immediately entered Meadow Hills Estate.

Earlier, to avoid alerting their target, Clio had only activated Meadow Hills Estate's surveillance system. But now that the shooting had started, there was nothing to worry about.

Diana held her breath, her eyes fixed on her phone screen. One drone was following Nicholas.

Nicholas tracked his target all the way but never saw Lachlan. There were only some mercenaries Lachlan had brought, engaged in a firefight with them.

Several drones were shot down, and Diana's breathing became rapid.

Clio's voice came through the earpiece again. "Boss, found him! Lachlan changed onto a janitor's clothes and is escaping from the landfill side with an old man!"

"Bruce, the landfill side—Lachlan is there!" Diana pulled open the car door. "Bruce, drive quickly!"

If they go around the outside of Meadow Hills Estate, they could get there in ten minutes at most by car.

But if they chased him from inside Meadow Hills Estate, it would take at least half an hour.

Nicholas was currently pinned down. That meant Diana had to stop Lachlan herself.

Bruce gritted his teeth as he listened to the gunfire erupting inside the Meadow Hills Estate. Then he quickly started the car.

"Everyone listen up" he barked into the comms. "leave one team to protect Mr. Spencer. Everyone else, follow me!"

"Contact the police and have them get in position immediately!"

Bruce's driving skills were excellent. Even on mountain roads, he could drive at top speed.

When they arrived at the landfill, sirens were already blaring. Dozens of police cars were waiting outside the landfill.

Bruce got out of the car, his usual gentleness replaced by an extremely serious expression. "Officer Dixon, your people take the left side, my people take the right. Lachlan has the chairman with him in this area. Immediately..."

Before he could finish, gunshots rang out from the opposite side.

Bruce shoved Diana back into the car. "Ms. Windsor, don't come out under any circumstances. Got it?"

"But..."

"No buts!" Bruce snapped. "Ms. Windsor, just listen to me this once."

Bruce seemed to realize he'd been too harsh. He put on a smile again. "Ms. Windsor, Mr. Spencer ordered a strawberry cake for you. I'll pick it up for you later."

After saying this, he took a handgun from the glove compartment and resolutely left.

Diana's car was surrounded by police cars. Sitting inside, she couldn't see anything—only hear gunshots and angry shouts.

The drones following Nicholas had all been shot down. She couldn't see Nicholas's situation either.

Finally, she could only clutch the sapphire pendant on her chest and pray silently.

If heaven could give her a chance to be reborn, could it let her and Nicholas just live a simple, ordinary life?

They'd already come this far—couldn't they just live simply?

She kept praying. After some unknown amount of time, the sapphire pendant in her hand suddenly grew hot, and Diana's consciousness was instantly pulled away.

When she opened her eyes again, Nicholas appeared before her. He was standing " in front of Lachlan, and Lachlan was pointing a gun at Sawyer's head.

"Nicholas," Lachlan sneered, his voice twisted with hatred. "Didn't you say you didn't care about your grandfather? What are you doing now?"

"You're just like your father—both hypocrites. You make me sick!"

"I'll trade places with him." Nicholas's voice carried no warmth. "You should know that the power of the Spencer Corporation has long since left his hands."

At the mention of this, Lachlan violently struck Sawyer's forehead with the gun barrel. "Yeah! Exactly! All the power has been transferred to you. He has nothing but the title of a chairman now!" His voice cracked with resentment. "Shit! All these years he kept lying to me, saying I was his only son. From beginning to end, the only one he cared about was you!"

"Since you're willing to trade places with him, then come over here. Put down your gun! Now! Quick!"

Diana kept shouting "No!" but no one could hear her.

She watched helplessly as Nicholas put down his gun. The next second, a gunshot rang out. Lachlan fired at Nicholas without hesitation.

"No!" Diana screamed and lunged toward Nicholas.

In an instant, she actually caught Nicholas in her arms, and her body radiated a pale blue light.
