The assistant immediately fell silent and lowered his head, which made Nydia very puzzled. The assistant had been with Jesse for many years and knew his temper well. How could he have angered him?
"What happened?" Nydia asked.
"It's my fault. You should go rest, I will wait for Boss' punishment," the assistant replied.
Nydia knew the assistant didn't want to tell her the truth. He didn't trust her and was worried that she would harm Jesse.
"Is it about the leg incident?" Nydia asked.
The assistant's expression changed, but he immediately lowered his head. "Please go rest, I will handle it."
Nydia couldn't help but laugh. "Come with me," she said in a serious tone, not asking for the assistant's opinion.
The assistant hesitated. "What? You don't want to listen to me?" Nydia's face darkened, and her gaze became sharp.
"Madam, what are your orders?" The assistant took a few steps to the side.
"We all know that Mr. Jesse's leg is his heartache, and his leg injury is not completely incurable. He gave up on himself, and we have to help him regain his confidence," Nydia said.
The assistant was taken aback. He didn't expect Nydia to say this. In his impression, Nydia wanted Mr. Jesse's leg to never recover.
"He is a person who demands a lot from himself and strives for perfection in everything. His leg injury has had a huge impact on him," Nydia continued.
"Yes, Mr. Jesse was a very strong-willed person, but now..." The assistant realized that he had inadvertently revealed too much while following Nydia's words and shut his mouth.
He didn't know what Nydia's purpose was, and he was afraid that she was trying to trick him into revealing something.
"I know he can stand up and walk again, so there is still hope," Nydia said.
The assistant stared at her in shock. This was supposed to be a secret that only close people knew.
"Can you tell me what happened just now?" Nydia asked.
The assistant opened his mouth but then closed it again.
Nydia was really angry now, but she couldn't blame anyone. She took a deep breath and glared at the assistant. "Fine, whatever. You can go."
After saying that, she walked away.
Back in her room, Nydia was really angry. She rolled around on the bed, pounded on it, stood up and jumped a few times, and it took her a while to calm down.
She was angry with herself, which made her even angrier.
Using medical skills to force oneself to calm down, Jesse specialized in studying leg injuries.
In fact, it's not just the leg injury that Jesse is dealing with, but also psychological issues, so she needs to read books on psychology.
She stayed up until past 2 a. m. and only went to bed after organizing many notes.
She woke up after 10 a. m. and looked at the bite marks on her neck, which had already scabbed over but were itchy.
What if it left a scar?
It would look strange to have scars from two rows of teeth on her neck, so she needs to get some scar removal products.
During the day, she stayed at home and studied the latest economic trends and current affairs. She remembered that the stock market wasn't doing well at this time, but there would be a very good upward trend in the second half of the year approaching the end of the year. She planned to start investing her money in stocks and funds soon.
Money won't generate any benefits if it's just sitting there doing nothing, money that makes money is the way to go.
In the evening, Jesse came back and had dinner before going to the study. Nydia went back to the bedroom to continue researching her path to wealth.
"Hello." The phone rang.
"Nydia, it's me," came Barclay's drunken voice from the receiver.
"Brother-in-law, what's wrong with you?"
"I feel terrible. How could Willette misunderstand me like this? I really didn't do it, Nydia. You know my feelings for her, even if others don't."
Nydia suddenly had a suspicion in her mind.
"Brother-in-law, what's going on between you two? Is there a misunderstanding? How much have you been drinking?"
"She doesn't believe me. No matter how I explain it to her, she doesn't believe me. I don't know what to do. She even wants to call off our engagement."
"That's serious." Nydia pretended to be concerned.
Then she heard the sound of vomiting from the receiver.
"Are you okay? Let me call my sister to come pick you up."
"She won't come. She's blocked me. Nydia, can you come and have a drink with me? I'm so upset, and I don't know who to talk to about this."
"Uh, that's not very convenient, is it? My sister already blamed me for being too close to you. If I go to see you, she will be angry."
After a moment of silence, Barclay said, "She's not talking to me now. If you're worried, forget it. I won't bother you anymore. Sorry for causing you trouble."
Was he using reverse psychology?
"Where are you? Send me your location."
