FOREST OF FEAR
Sebastian's POV
“I’ll walk into the forest, Alpha. And I’ll return… as your Luna.” Her voice was so firm and steady.
My throat tightened as I looked at her—really looked at her.
The Luna trial is still something that she can barely manage to do but the Forest of Fear? Nah.
Did she even realize what she was saying?
Have she ever even heard about the Forest of Fear before?
I doubt that. Because if she had, she’d know that place is no child's play, especially for someone like her who doesn't have the blood of the true Luna—or even a wolf.
The Forest of Fear.
The mere name sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest warriors. It was a cursed place, thick with darkness—no day or night. A place where shadows, different creatures, ancient and strange beings with glowing eyes and elongated claws lurk around without a warning.
No one has entered the forest and returned—alive or dead. It was rumoured the forest was alive feasting on the fear and flesh of the lost.
And she wants to go there like it's a vacation trip or something?
“Leave. Us,” I growled, clenching my fists tightly.
The Elders exchanged uneasy glances , then started leaving one after the other.
The moment the last guard clicked the door shut behind him, I stepped closer to her.
“Evelyn, do you know what you're talking about?“ I asked, my voice tight with anger.
She opened her mouth to respond, but I didn't wait before quickly adding, “You're not going,” I said, my voice sharp and final—brooking no arguments. “I won't let you go.“
Thick silence stretched between us for a moment.
“Let me go, my Alpha,” she said calmly. “If I don't, the Elders and your mother will never stop. I honestly don't like that you're always protective of me —it causes misunderstandings between you and your people. I can take care of myself.“
“I know you can.“ I ran a hand through my hair as frustration swirled inside me. “But…..“ The words died in my mouth. I didn’t want to make her feel less of herself by saying she's wolfless and all that.
I sat on my throne chair. Reaching out, I took her hands in mine and squeezed them gently. “Trust me. I know what they are doing. This Forest of Fear, is no different from a death sentence.“
She managed a small smile. “Let me go, your majesty. If I die, then I die. It's better than being a coward. Sitting down here and letting them walk over me? Never.“
Right, she had a point. But still, I couldn't handle the fear of losing her. I'd rather protect and fight for her all my life than let her walk straight into her death.
“No, You can't—”
She shut me up with a single finger placed across my lips. Then she leaned in—her nose almost hitting mine. “Please, my Alpha,” she murmured, her breath warm against my lips.
The sensation of it sent a thrill down my spine
Our gaze was fixed.
I looked straight into her eyes. No fears. No doubts. Just pure determination and courage—that’s all I saw in her.
What kind of woman is Evelyn Darkmoors?
She looks like she’s stared death in the face, and now nothing scares her anymore.
She's so stubborn. And since I was left with no choice, I nodded slowly, But I knew I wouldn’t let her go.
A smile curled her lips as she mouthed, 'thank you.' Then she removed her hand.
I nodded slowly. “I trust that you will be fine.“
She stood, straightening. “Sure, I will be fine.“
Then I remembered Alpha Damian of the Bloodmoon Pack wedding I had promised to attend.
“I have an event coming up tomorrow. I want you to attend with me,” I said, then retrieved the sleek black card from my pockets. “Take this and get whatever you like. I want my Luna to look her best.“
“Ohh… I'm sorry, but I can't take this,” she said.
“Why?“ I asked, confused.
“You've given me too much already. More than I have hoped for,” she said, her voice appreciative— like I had just given her the whole world.
“I'm not complaining, am I?“ I asked.
“No… you are not. But I shouldn't inconvenience you anymore.“
I sighed, rolling my eyes. How stubborn can she be? She always has a reply to every question. Can someone give her an award for being the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met?
“Take it.“ My voice was sharper than intended. “It's your Alpha command.“
She hesitated and then took it. “I will keep it safe for you then,” she said with a small smile. “And anytime I choose to use it, just pray you don't go bankrupt.“
“Bankrupt?“ I repeated. “What does that mean? Have you forgotten who I am?“ My voice carried a hint of pride. “It's Alpha Sebastian Wolfe. The Alpha of the Northern province Clan.“
“Sure, sure, I know,” she said in a light voice, then her laugh echoed through the walls.
I smiled too. And that's strange. I’ve been smiling so often lately. Right, Evelyn radiate so much light that you can't stay mad for long when you're with her.
And I wonder why mother and the Elders can't seem to see it.
The laughter died down.
“I need a job. Can you help me get one?“
The smile on my face vanished into thin air. Was she kidding me?
I looked at her—really looked at her—hoping that she was just pulling my leg or something. But her expression gave nothing away. She was dead serious.
“No, you can't work, Evelyn. Your job is here at this pack. You're it's mother,” I said.
“But I want to get something—”
“No.“
I stood, straightening myself. Then I slung my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me—her breasts pressing against my chest and her delicious scent wrapping around me.
She stiffened, her cheeks flushed.
Fuck! She's so tempting.
I remembered our make out in the study earlier. If Ashen hadn't interrupted, I probably would have claimed her.
My eyes fell to the swell of her breasts and then to her rosy and succulent lips. I leaned forward and pressed my lips against them.
“Your job is here. Me. This pack,” I whispered, pulling back.
My fingers trailed along her smooth face, as if I wanted to memorize every curve.
Then I started walking out of the hall. “Don't ever talk about it again,“ I said, over my shoulders.
I half expected her to argue as usual but she didn't.
Good.
I smirked, stepping into the hallway.
“Alpha,” Ashen called behind me.
I stopped.
He closed the distance between us and stood beside me with a manila envelope in his hands.
His expression was unreadable as he said, “I found out something about Luna Evelyn.“
