Chapter 431 He Turns Out to Be Like This
"Where are you right now?"
After struggling with whether he was old or not, Daniel finally let it go.
He couldn't help but send Emily a message.
Emily had just finished meeting with a few tech experts and was about to head back.
Seeing Daniel's message, she thought for a moment and sent him her location. "Just met some old friends, about to head back."
It was almost time for Daniel to get off work.
He looked at the location Emily sent - it wasn't far from him at all.
"Wait there, I'll pick you up. I need to ask you a favor."
"What favor? Tell me."
Emily raised an eyebrow.
A bit curious.
Hearing Emily's tone, Daniel could almost picture her expression right now.
He found it kind of cute and playful.
"Charles and the others all think my wardrobe only has suits, too old-fashioned, so they suggested I get some casual, younger-looking clothes. I remember you studied design and have good taste, so could you come with me to buy a few outfits?"
Beneath Daniel's calm tone, there seemed to be a hint of carefulness.
He even felt this reason alone was a bit weak.
Daniel added, "Also, the engagement is tomorrow. Have you prepared your dress? If not, we can get you a nice fitted one while we're at it."
Emily naturally had a dress.
She could tell Daniel was just making excuses - he simply wanted her company.
Emily first replied playfully, "Don't forget, you once gave me a dress, an L design. I think it would be perfect for tomorrow. What do you think?"
Daniel's expression dimmed.
Was she rejecting him?
Did she really think he was too old?
Daniel opened his mouth, about to speak.
Emily spoke again, "However, being able to style you and change your usual rigid image for everyone to see would be my honor."
Daniel's previously dim eyes instantly lit up brilliantly.
"Then wait for me, I'll come get you right away. Let's go together." Daniel's deep voice carried a hint of urgency, as if afraid that once he finished speaking, Emily would change her mind.
Emily smiled mischievously, with the vitality and lightness of her age, "Okay, I'll wait for you."
Daniel hung up the phone, grabbed his coat and headed out. "York, get the car."
York quickly followed Daniel's retreating figure.
But he was puzzled inside.
From this morning until quitting time, Daniel had been looking miserable and full of hostility. How did his mood suddenly improve?
It wasn't until York drove to the address Daniel provided and picked up Emily waiting by the roadside that he understood why Daniel's mood had improved.
He had to admit, having someone Daniel liked was actually quite good for them as subordinates too.
At least when Daniel was in a bad mood, she could easily turn his mood from cloudy to sunny.
It also meant they didn't have to endure such high pressure.
"Ms. Johnson, please!"
York enthusiastically opened the car door, inviting Emily in.
As the door opened, Emily saw Daniel in his suit, his whole demeanor cool and composed.
Looking all serious.
It seemed to contrast with the tone he'd just used asking her to go shopping with him.
Emily's smile widened.
She quickly got in the car, looking at Daniel's perfect profile.
She suddenly felt a little playful urge to tease him.
"Daniel, how could York be so bold as to suddenly criticize your clothes? I didn't expect you to care about your appearance."
Emily asked with a curious expression.
York, who was seriously driving up front, was completely speechless.
He was scared to death.
He felt so wronged!
When did he ever criticize Daniel's clothes? Even with ten times the courage, he wouldn't dare!
York wanted to explain.
But Daniel, perhaps afraid York would say something wrong and expose his lie, had already taken over the conversation. "I think occasionally changing things up isn't bad."
Emily had actually said that deliberately while watching York's expression.
From York's reaction alone, she knew he absolutely didn't have the guts to criticize Daniel's clothes.
Hearing Daniel's words, it felt like he was covering up a lie.
But Emily didn't call him out.
She just responded, "That's great, very thoughtful."
Seeing Emily didn't pursue it further, Daniel breathed a sigh of relief.
He turned his head slightly. The evening sun was shining on the side of her face, and even her hair seemed to glow.
She looked clean and beautiful.
He couldn't bear to look away.
It seemed like with each passing day, he liked her a little more than the day before.
Emily noticed Daniel's gaze and suddenly turned her head.
Meeting Daniel's deep eyes, she tilted her head and smiled playfully, "Do I look good?"
Daniel's face remained calm, and he could answer quite seriously, "Yes."
Not a trace of embarrassment at being caught staring.
Emily was a bit disappointed by his reaction.
She thought he might be shy.
But just as she was about to look away, she caught a glimpse of Daniel's ears turning completely red.
Emily was laughing inside.
She found Daniel a bit... reserved on the outside but passionate inside.
So this is what kind of man you are.
Actually, Daniel was also a bit flustered inside, wondering if Emily was laughing at him right now.
Fortunately, the car stopped at the mall entrance.
"Ms. Johnson, Mr. Smith, we're here."
York parked the car and turned back to remind them.
This also brought Emily and Daniel, each lost in their own thoughts, back to reality.
The two walked into the mall side by side. The handsome man and beautiful woman were simply eye-catching, immediately drawing many people's attention.
Some busybodies even wanted to capture this moment and post it online, marveling at such a well-matched couple.
But when Daniel noticed their movement, his sharp gaze shot over coolly.
It gave off an invisible sense of oppression, making the person instinctively put away their phone.
When he realized what he'd done, he was shocked at how he'd backed down.
But that handsome guy's presence was just too powerful.
Not something ordinary people had.
He admitted defeat and didn't dare take photos anymore.
Emily and Daniel soon entered a store, and a sales clerk immediately came up to them.
Everyone wanted to look at a handsome guy, but Daniel was too unapproachable.
Fortunately, Emily was there.
"We'll look around first, I'll call you if we need anything."
Emily smiled and replied, then started looking for clothes suitable for Daniel.
Soon, she had put together two outfits she thought were quite good and held them up next to Daniel to compare.
"What do you think? Want to try them on?"
Daniel was enjoying this moment, with Emily picking out clothes for him like a wife would. The coldness around him instantly melted, and the corners of his lips curved into a barely noticeable arc. "Okay."
After Emily watched Daniel go in with the two outfits she'd put together, she continued browsing.
A sales clerk nearby couldn't help but approach to help recommend items, and couldn't resist saying, "Miss, you have such good taste, and your boyfriend has such a great figure - he's like a walking clothes hanger. I guarantee the outfits you picked will look amazing on him when he comes out."
Emily smiled, "Thank you!"
It was at this moment that Daniel, having changed into one of the outfits, walked out and heard this conversation.
His expression showed emotion.
He was overjoyed inside.
She didn't deny it.
Didn't that mean she was acknowledging it?
For a moment, he almost couldn't resist rushing up to hold her tightly, to merge her into his body.
