Chapter 388 Reporting, She is Professional
"Ms. Johnson, did something happen?"
The bar manager saw Emily approaching, still breathing heavily, as if something urgent had occurred, and immediately asked with concern.
"Have your staff watch the surveillance. That private room on the second floor - once they leave, don't let the waiters go in to clean. Notify me right away."
Emily had a sharp nose. She wanted to confirm, without disturbing the scene, whether what they had just discussed might really be those drugs.
If so, following Zoey's lead, she might be able to dig up some of Axel's secrets.
She suspected that the Stevens family relative who was arrested back then might have some connection to the Stevens family in Emerald City. Looks like she guessed right.
Although the bar manager didn't know exactly what Emily was planning to do, since Knox had already given the word, he just needed to follow Emily's instructions.
"Don't worry, Ms. Johnson, I will. So now, should I arrange for someone to protect you and see you out, or should I arrange a lounge for you to rest in first, and notify you immediately when there's movement from the private room?"
The bar manager asked.
He thought of something and added, "Sterling and Wilder really won't give up. They're still waiting at the bar entrance right now, probably just waiting for you to come out so they can grab you!"
"Arrange a lounge. I need to keep an eye on this myself."
Emily still wasn't at ease. With this kind of thing, even the slightest suspicion couldn't be ignored.
After all, drug trafficking was no small matter.
"Alright, I'll arrange a lounge for you right away!"
After Emily was settled in the lounge, the bar manager left.
She first called Byron.
Actually, Byron and the others were extremely anxious. On one hand, they believed in Emily's abilities, but on the other hand, they still couldn't help worrying.
They had been hesitating about when would be the right time to call - what if Emily was at a critical moment!
Fortunately, they finally received Emily's call.
Kaia's head had been bandaged by now, and she looked in good spirits.
When she saw Emily's call on Byron's phone, she immediately silently reminded Byron to put it on speaker.
"Boss, how are you doing now? Did anyone bully you?"
As soon as Byron finished speaking, Sophia slapped him, making Byron cry out in pain.
Sophia glared at Byron. "Can't you speak properly? The boss is so capable, how could she possibly be bullied?"
Kaia couldn't help but nod, but since her head was still injured, nodding too quickly made her feel uncomfortable. She immediately switched to using her eyes to support Sophia's statement.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. Not only am I fine, I even won compensation money for Kaia - a million dollars. I'll transfer it directly to Kaia. Just don't blame me for playing favorites."
Emily knew they were worried about her, which is why she made this call - to let them know she was safe.
Hearing that Emily was fine and had even won a million dollars, everyone was naturally very happy. Their admiration for Emily was like an endless flowing river.
Byron couldn't help but say it out loud, earning eye rolls from the other two.
Emily chuckled softly.
Sophia got to the point: "So boss, where are you now? Still at the bar? What about Sterling and Wilder?"
"I still have something to take care of here, need to wait a bit longer. If Kaia is okay and the doctor says she can go home, I'll need you guys to take her home and look after her tonight. I'll pick her up tomorrow."
Emily had treated Kaia's injury and had a pretty good idea of the situation, so she wasn't too worried.
"Boss, don't worry. I'm not a child anymore, I know how to take care of myself. You go ahead and handle your business. And I'll be waiting for you to pick me up!"
She didn't forget to act cute at the end.
But it was so natural, not annoying at all.
For Sophia and Byron, this was a talent they couldn't learn.
However, Sophia and Byron still promised to take good care of Kaia.
This was a task Emily had assigned them - they definitely had to complete it perfectly.
How could they miss such a good opportunity to perform well?
Emily hung up the phone with peace of mind.
She then dialed Knox's number.
At this moment, Knox was on his way to the bar. Receiving another call from Emily in such a short time made his heart involuntarily tighten with worry.
"What's wrong? Did something happen? Where's the manager, what's he doing?"
Knox asked with concern in his voice.
Emily realized Knox had misunderstood.
After all, she didn't usually call Knox this frequently.
Emily told Knox everything she had heard in Zoey's private room, and then shared her suspicions.
"If something happens at your bar, when they investigate later, I'm afraid your bar will be implicated too and face suspension for rectification. So I want to go in and check after they leave."
Emily explained her plan.
"You don't need to worry about this anymore. Since I know about it now, I'll arrange for people to handle it. Just pretend you don't know. You can't get involved in this kind of thing - it's too dangerous."
If Emily's guess was correct, those people might be desperados.
How could he possibly let Emily fall into such a dangerous situation again?
This kind of thing was actually more suitable for someone like him who had already licked blood off knife edges.
"I'm afraid that won't work. I suspect they've only just started. Your people probably won't be able to find anything. Only someone with a nose like mine might be able to discover something."
Emily rejected Knox's suggestion.
She had been through even more dangerous situations than this. This little matter really didn't scare her.
Seeing he couldn't persuade Emily, Knox didn't insist further.
"Then rest for now."
After hanging up, he first called the bar manager and told him to report immediately if there was any development.
Then he ordered the driver, "Speed up!"
The reason he didn't stubbornly continue trying to persuade Emily was because as long as he got to the bar quickly, with him there, Emily could be well protected.
Emily didn't think much of it.
She was originally hesitating whether to tell Daniel, since it might involve Raina.
She had originally planned to leave Raina alone for now, but given the current situation, if Raina was really involved, Daniel should handle it immediately.
However, she thought that Daniel should have already arrived in Emerald City and was probably very busy right now.
Plus, she still needed to make a final confirmation on her end.
So Emily put down her phone.
But even though she didn't make this call, Daniel still found out about the trouble she encountered at the bar.
Because Kaia had contacted Gilbert.
"Although the boss handled it, I said I would protect the boss. How can I let her suffer even the slightest grievance? No way, I need to find Gilbert and have Gilbert help the boss get justice!"
When Kaia said this, Sophia and Byron also thought it made sense, and they each complained to their own families.
It was under these circumstances that Gilbert received Kaia's call.
