The judge gave his final verdict.

“I hereby sentence Cynthia Malcolm to 30 years in prison for first-degree murder, attempted murder, and several other offenses.”

“Court rise.”

Everyone stood up as the judge walked out of the court. Aurora placed her hand on Marcel’s. Marcel looked at her.

They watched as Cynthia was taken out of court.

The case was popular nationwide. The Malcolms was the most searched word for weeks and months. A series of events had happened these past months involving the Malcolms. It was both tragic and shocking. The news of Cynthia Malcolm killing her own husband was a shock to everyone, but everyone was glad justice was served and felt pity for Marcel.

Veronica and her family had come over to spend time with Marcel at this difficult time. They could not come during Henry’s death, so this was the best time to come spend time with him.

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months into years.

Aurora tapped her foot impatiently and looked at her watch. She anxiously wanted the lecturer to be done teaching so she could leave school on time to meet up with Marcel’s inauguration.

“Aurora, you need to calm down,” Cindy whispered to her from behind.

It turned out that Cindy had transferred to her department because her father wanted her to do business studies instead of fashion that she wanted. And ever since, they have become close friends.

“I can’t. Today is Marcel’s inauguration,” Aurora whispered back.

Cindy nodded.

Aurora counted the time, and when the lecturer finally left, she was the first to immediately put her things in her bag and rush out of there. Cindy watched her as she ran out of the class and sighed.

Aurora looked at her phone as she ran to her department’s parking lot.

The bodyguards opened the door for her, and she immediately got in. “Take me to my stylist,” Aurora said to her chauffeur.

“Yes, ma’am,” the chauffeur said, and drove off.

Since what happened two years ago, Marcel and her father both agreed that she was not allowed to drive herself and would always have security around her.

When the SUV stopped at her stylist’s, she jumped out and ran inside the beauty store.

Her stylist was already waiting for her. “Welcome, ma’am,” her stylist said.

“Thank you, but we have to hurry. I do not want to be late for Marcel’s inauguration.”

Her stylist nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”

Aurora sat down, and they did her makeup and her hair. And after they put on the outfit.

It was a black suit and skirt. Today was the day Marcel got installed as chairman of Malcolm Group, so she had to look professional as the chairman’s girlfriend.

Aurora looked at herself in the mirror, and she looked so beautiful. She looked at the time and saw she had like 20 minutes left.

She left the beauty store and headed straight to the Malcolm headquarters.

On the way there, they were stuck in traffic.

“Oh no,” Aurora said. “If not for that lecturer’s class that is always compulsory in order to pass his exam, I would have skipped the class. That way I wouldn’t be late.” Aurora ranted to herself.

At the Malcolm headquarters, there were elevators and news media houses everywhere and every corner. It was packed.

For the past two years, Marcel Malcolm has been a popular figure in the business world. His own company had grown tremendously, and everyone in the business space had watched how he had been working behind the scenes to make sure the Malcolm Group went to the next level. The Malcolm Group has had three temporary chairmen these past two years, but none were able to do their job as chairman, so Marcel had to step forward to take care of things behind the scenes. He kept solving the Malcolm Group’s biggest problems, and the board had to beg him to take over as chairman even when he was not done with university and had his own company to run.

Marcel had agreed after a ton of thinking about it, and today he was stepping in as the permanent chairman of Malcolm Group at the age of 21.

The large auditorium was filled with shareholders, both big and small, CEOs, directors, managers, department heads, team leaders, and excellent staff of Malcolm Group who had contributed to the growth of the group.

“Let’s welcome our new chairman, Marcel Malcolm.” Marcel stood up and bowed, and everyone clapped.

In the crowd were also his family, friends, and business partners. Everyone came to support him. His aunt Veronica and her family were also present. A year ago, they had decided to move into the country and bought a house in the same estate as him, as they had planned before. He was happy to have them here.

Marcel scanned his eyes around and wondered why Aurora was not here yet. He looked at his bodyguard, who whispered that she was on the way and was stuck in traffic.

Marcel nodded, then walked to the microphone to give a speech.

“Thank you, everyone, for being here to support me. It means a lot that everyone greatly agrees that I take over as chairman. I’m dedicated to do what I need to do to take Malcolm's group to greater heights…”

Marcel stopped talking when he saw Aurora stepping inside the place from a distance.

Everyone turned to look in the direction he was looking at. As soon as Aurora sat down, she looked at Marcel and smiled.

Marcel smiled too before continuing his speech.

“This company isn’t just mine or my family’s, it’s everyone’s. Everyone who has contributed to the growth of this company owns a portion of it. So let’s all join hands to take it to the next level. Thank you.”

Everyone clapped and Aurora clapped more. She is a proud girlfriend.
