CHAPTER 39
CHAPTER 39
"What did you say, Mr. Aguirre?" He frowned. If the man thinks he can intimidate him, then he is wrong. If it's true that a demon is his helper, then all the better because he won't hesitate to hurt him, or kill him.
Instead of answering his question, he laughed loudly. He could almost see his uvula because of the opening of his mouth. He was disgusted by the way he laughed, especially since it was obviously forced and teasing him.
"I'm not joking with you, Mr. Aguirre. If you think your joke is funny, you're wrong." His voice was low, but that voice was accompanied by a looming danger. He was like a volcano that would explode at any moment if the person in front of him continued his madness.
Michael stood up and exhaled. He felt like an invisible fist had punched him in the chest, so he coughed. His closed palm was focused on his chest while his eyes widened. He couldn't explain the painful feeling in his heart. It was like it was being squeezed, so he was gasping for breath.
He tried to fix his breathing, but it seemed like something was blocking the passage of air in his body, so he had a hard time moving.
"Ahhhhhhh!" he shouted as he knelt while clutching his chest where his heart was located. He was almost writhing in pain. If it weren't for his desire to live, he might have collapsed on the floor a long time ago and died for the second time.
"Does the pain so excruciating, Michael?" Jam asked him. His voice was different. Thick, deep, and full. It was contrary to the voice that was familiar to him when his friend spoke. The voice he was hearing now seemed to be coming from under the grave.
Scary.
Creepy.
Michael was not exaggerating things. That was the right meaning to give to the pain he was feeling at that time.
The hairs on his body were standing up even though it hadn't moved from where it was sitting.
D and Brent's hunch was right. He has a guide. And he thinks it's a demon like him. So he wouldn't be surprised if Jam was behind his murder if he was already killing him face to face now.
"W-who are y-you?!" He still managed to ask before he collapsed to the floor.
Meanwhile...
WHEN Brent entered his office, he was surprised. His office was dark, but so far he didn't feel anything strange around him. The air inside the room seemed fine to him.
He stepped towards the light switch, but before he could fully turn on the light, he was greeted by a not-so-loud bang. Along with that bang was the spread of light around. Inside his office, confetti from the party poppers was scattered, which caused the bang.
Brent smiled when he saw the faces of the ordinary workers in that company. Simple employees of the company that Michael loved before the accident happened to his friend. Janitors, security guards, and simple encoders, and those who follow the orders of other higher ups who act even better than Michael who is the CEO and founder of their workplace.
"Welcome back, boss!" they said in unison. He smiled. A warm welcome plastered on their faces and that was enough for a warm, invisible hand to caress his heart.
"Thank you," he said from the heart. He didn’t expect this kind of gestures from them especially since he saw them when he visited him in the hospital. And even though their salaries weren't that big, they still managed to bring fruit for him whenever they visited.
"We're happy that you're back, Sir," said an elderly woman who was almost in tears. "Since Sir Michael disappeared, you're the only one who has treated us as part of this company, so we're happy that you're okay."
He smiled again. "Don't worry because you won't have a hard time with the situation now, especially since there's a new CEO who will replace him again. That one is also kind, and I know that he will value you just like your Sir Michael did to you." He was sure of what he said, because Michael will also be the CEO. He came back again and even if there was something different about his friend, he saw that the goodness was still there in his heart.
And because the employees prepared a small party, they ate first. They didn't stay long especially since they needed to go back to their respective tasks.
When that party was over, they left. When there was no one left inside his office, he then took care of the papers that needed to be signed. But before he could even get past four papers, he heard a voice from somewhere.
"Michael is in danger at this time. You are the only one who can help him."
That wasn't the voice of his guide, so... "D?" he confirmed.
"It's me. Save him before it's too late." He sensed the desperation in his voice, so he shook his head. It was impossible to feel any emotion from the demon who was helping Michael. He is a demon, so the true meaning of helping is not in his mind. If he is helping Michael, it is because of the soul of his friend that he will also claim in the end.
Brent was about to speak, but he was attacked by intense anxiety, so he stood up. He called his guide and it appeared out of nowhere. He was the only one who could see it, so it could move freely according to its wishes.
He was about to go out the door when he felt the angel who was his guide touch him. The next thing he noticed was the wind touching his skin. They were outside the building and it was carrying him while flying!
Before he could even recover, they were already inside Michael's office and he saw his friend slumped while holding his chest. On his face, you could see the pain and terror before he lost consciousness.
"Michael, wake up!" he said to him while tapping his friend's cheek. He turned him over and he was just shocked when he saw smoke coming from his chest.
