Chapter 27

Her heart skipped a beat as she caught sight of Elijah. The happiness that surged through him was palpable, but little did she know that Elijah felt the complete opposite. In his mind, it was too late to mend their broken family, as he believed Bailey had reconciled with her ex-boyfriend, John. Frustration consumed him, causing him to toss the flower he had brought aside before stepping inside.

"Elijah?" John exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Daddy!" the young boy exclaimed, rushing towards him.

"It's been a month since you left and came back to Canada. Why are you here? Is it another business trip?" Bailey asked, her words stumbling over each other.

"Uhmm, yeah. I just happened to pass by and thought of visiting. I missed him too much," he lied.

Just then, John's phone rang, interrupting their conversation. It was his girlfriend calling. With a quick goodbye, John left, leaving Elijah surprised to learn about his father's new relationship. Their eyes met, and John smiled at him before departing from the mansion. Elijah couldn't contain the joy that washed over him, realizing that his assumptions may have been wrong. He approached her, their gazes locked, and a sweet smile graced his lips as he looked at the woman he loved.

"Why do your smiles feel so sweet?" she asked, a smile playing on her own lips.

"I thought you and John had gotten back together, but I was mistaken," he replied, his smile widening.

"What if we did get back together?"she inquired.

"Wait, so you two really did get back together?!" he asked, a hint of worry in his voice.

"Did I say that?" she teased, a smile dancing in her eyes.

He closed the distance between them, taking her hand in his. she felt a mix of curiosity and apprehension, unsure of what Elijah was about to say. She had long accepted that they were merely friends for the sake of their business and their son.

"I want to make things right, Bailey. I want to rebuild our family and ask for another chance," Tyler said emotionally.

Bailey couldn't believe what she was hearing. She knew that Elijah had another family and didn't want to ruin it.

"I don't want to destroy another family, Elijah. What about Mika and Dorm?" Bailey asked, tears streaming down her face.

Elijah revealed that he and Mika were divorced and that Dorm was not really his son. Elijah was shocked and couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"How did that happen?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Elijah explained that Mika had been deceiving him for a long time and that Dorm was not really his son. She was surprised and couldn't believe what she was hearing.

1 YEAR LATER...

They made the decision to return to Canada and build a life there, ensuring they could always be together. 

As they stepped into the mansion, memories flooded their minds. They both reminisced about the happy times spent with their parents.

The following day, they visited their daughter’s grave to commemorate her death anniversary. As they placed bouquets of flowers on his grave, Elijah proudly shared the company's achievements and how their father's dream of them getting along had finally come true.

Months later, Elijah decided to pursue his plan of proposing to Bailey and enlisted the help of his sister and Veronica's close friends. He even visited Bailey’s cousin and aunt from her former residence to surprise her.

It had been a year since they last saw each other, and Elijah updated them on the events in their lives. Despite the hardships, they were all happy to be together again and move forward as a family.

Despite the revelations they had uncovered, they made the decision to support Elijah's desire to marry Bailey once again.Elijah vowed to himself that he would not let anyone ruin their marriage again, firmly believing that time would only strengthen their bond. He had also made a promise to his aunt that he would never hurt Bailey again.

Mercy, fully in agreement with Elijah, eagerly joined him to witness his elaborate marriage proposal to Bailey. Meanwhile, Bailey remained completely oblivious, thinking that Elijah had gone on a business trip to Italy. Little did she know, Elijah had a surprise plan in store to make her incredibly happy.

Suddenly, Tyler called Veronica and she answered immediately, confessing how much she missed him. Tyler informed her about a Victory company event that would be taking place that Saturday at their hotel. Unfortunately, he sadly informed her that she couldn't come home and instead had to attend the event as a proxy, representing the CEO. Unbeknownst to her, Tyler was simply lying to surprise her. She had no idea what awaited her on that fateful Saturday.

Veronica couldn't help but question the suddenness of it all. "Why am I only finding out about this now?" she asked.

"Just come to the party, my love. I'll explain everything when I get home," Tyler reassured her.

Although Veronica felt confused and hesitant, she had no choice but to comply. She didn't want to embarrass Tyler, especially since it was for the sake of the company.

As she prepared for the party on Saturday evening, Veronica held her breath, eagerly anticipating Tyler's return. How many more days would she have to wait to be reunited with him?

Around 7pm, she was ready, dressed in a stunning rose gold gown that accentuated her figure. Brianna had helped her with her makeup, ensuring she looked even more radiant. Brianna couldn't help but smile, excited to see Veronica's reaction.

Moments later, Veronica finished her makeup and left the room, gracefully descending the stairs. She looked so captivating that everyone was in awe of her beauty that night.

Veronica stepped inside, her senses immediately alert to the unusual quietness and dim lighting. Doubt began to creep into her mind, causing her to consider retreating. However, before she could act on her instincts, Craig intervened, halting her in her tracks.

In an unexpected turn of events, the room suddenly burst into brightness, illuminating the faces of the most important people in Veronica's life. Overwhelmed with emotion, tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly approached them. The joy radiating from the faces of her friends and family was palpable, filling her heart with warmth.

Locked in a gaze, Tyler produced a small box from his pocket, slowly opening it as he remained on one knee. The weight of his words hung in the air as he earnestly asked, "Ms. Smith, can you be mine again? Can you be my wife again?"

The intensity of the moment overwhelmed them both. Veronica couldn't contain her tears as she stood before Tyler, uttering a resounding "Yes" to his heartfelt proposal.

Veronica, her tears still flowing, replied with a smile, "I still want you to be my husband again and again."
